The CEO's Rented Wife

Chapter 122 - Really Gross!

As Tina handled the cooking tasks, Lina started to work on arranging for the ingredients, according to the required quantities.

"Tina, I am not sure about this! Every recipe has been given for different number of people. I am not sure, if I need to double the ingredients or triple them? Or shall I just add a bit extra of everything?" Lina was confused.

"I don't know, Lina. Just do what you think is best," Tina was already engrossed in rest of the cooking preparations.

"That's a very non-committal response. And, I have no doubt that when everything gets spoiled, I am going to get the full blame," sighed Lina and continued with the work.

Lina picked up the flour and poured it into a large purple mixing bowl. The splash back went up her nose, causing her to sneeze and throw the remaining flour all over herself.

This was not a good start and Lina was filled with an ominous feeling.

"Stop making so many messes you! I'm watching you!" Tina chided, as she gave a side glance towards Lina.

Lina spun on her heel to tell Tina to leave her alone, but she was not even looking at her. 'How does she do that? She knows that I'm making a mess, and she's still working without even giving a glance in my direction,' Lina thought and was surprised at Tina's concentration.

"Don't wait for me to turn around. I knew this would happen. You're that predictable, Lina. Now concentrate!"

'Wow! she can read my mind!' Lina thought and continued to work.

Both of them worked till late at night. All the baking and the cleaning up got finished at 1 A.M., and both of them were too tired to even taste their own cooked items. Lina called her grandma and told her that she was going to sleep at Tina's house.

Next morning, at Wang Fashion House..

Lina was bang on time. She had to get up early in the morning, pack all the stuff that was cooked yesterday night, and rush to her house to get ready for the office.

Lina wore a hat again. As soon as she reached the headoffice, she headed, straightway, to the meeting room. Everyone was to gather there to discuss on some important issues. And Wang, will be there as well.

"I have treats for you all!" Lina practically sang this, as she walked into the meeting room, having a look at all those who had already gathered for the meeting. She was excited to see her colleague's reaction to the lovely sweet things that she, and Tina, took half the night to bake.

Lina could not see Wang, yet. She felt a little guilty as she walked past the other teams in the large building. She didn't really know anyone else, so she didn't think to get them anything.

"Ooh yummy! Let's see what you've got then," Smith appeared to be practically salivating at the sight of Lina's carrier bags, filled with cake tins.

Lina looked mighty excited, and did look a little greedy, at this moment, with four tins full to bursting point. She opened the tins and showed them to Smith. Within moments, Smith's desk was swarming with people trying to get their hands on something sweet.

Lina was loving seeing everyone's happy faces. She just wished that she had a chance to try some of the sweets last night, but by the time Lina and Tina had finished baking and cleared up everything, it was almost 1 A.M. and they both were exhausted.

"You also have it, Lina," Smith smiled.

Lina started to think of what she was going to eat. 'What shall I try now? I think I'll go for a cookie and a muffin. I should probably choose something that I made myself, but, I'm not in the mood for tiffin or lemon cake and we have loads of both left at home!' Lina thought.

Lina grabbed her chosen sweets and took her seat at her desk.

Just as Lina sat down, she saw Wang enter the meeting room. Lina got nervous all of a sudden. Wang walked towards Lina, and had a look at his personal assistant, sitting in the meeting hall, wearing a hat. Smith had already explained everything to Wang, earlier today, and so Wang wasn't surprised. He wanted to say something to Lina, but preferred to stay quite.

"Err.. Mr. Wang, please try these sweets. I baked them, along with a friend of mine," Lina hesistated.

Wang saw that there are goodies on Smith's desk. Lina wanted Wang to try some quickly before they get snapped up. Afterall, it was Wang, that Lina had brought these sweet snacks for.

"Lina, you baked them? This all looks very delicious," Wang smiled a little at Lina, ignoring her new looks for now. "I'm starting with the lemon cake, but I think I'll have to work my way through them all by lunch time," Wang winked, had a look at Lina before lifting the cake to his mouth.

"That's fine, Mr. Wang, I made enough of them all. So, help yourself," Lina smiled back.

Lina watched Wang, tuck into the lemon cake and saw his face change, from one of p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e, to one of utter disgust, as he spat out the mouthful of cake.

At that exact moment Lina's phone buzzed with a text from Tina; "Don't eat lemon cake, you f.u.c.k.e.d up! Really gross! X"

Lina grabbed Wang's cake and took a bite, it was disgusting. The lemon was really strong and bitter and it tasted like she had put salt in it, instead of sugar. Lina couldn't even swallow it. It was so sour she had to spit it out too.

"Don't eat the lemon cake.. something's wrong with it!" Lina shouted as she jumped up from her desk to warn people. Luckily, it doesn't look like anyone else has started theirs yet. Wang was the only one. 'Why oh! why.. did it have to be Wang who tried it first? The one person I'm trying to impress is the only one that actually put that sour, salty, stodgy thing in his mouth,' Lina thought as she cursed her bad luck.
