The CEO's Rented Wife

Chapter 124 - Getting Ready For Payday Party!

After having a talk with Chunhua, Wang shifted his attention towards Lina. "Chunhua said that you tried to poison her with your lemon cakes! Haha! She's such a drama queen!," Wang laughed.

Lina heaved a sigh of relief. Wang did not take any of this seriously.

Smith walked over to Wang's desk and Lina sneaked a peek at what he picked up. Smith picked up some some tiffin. Lina heaved a sigh of relief again.

Smith was in much jolly mood. "So, trying to poison Chunhua early in the morning eh? You have some guts, Lina," Smith giggled.

Wang decided to defend his personal assistant. "Nah! That's certainly not the case. Chunhua is such a drama queen! And, Lina.. The tiffin is great, top job!'

"Yes, Wang is right! Lina, you've got some skills. I would love to marry a girl like you, and eat these delicious sweets for the rest of my life," Smith winked.

Lina looked at Smith, and immediately understood, that he was trying to make Wang feel jealous. Lina reminded herself of Tina's words, and decided to be a part of this trick. "Err.. Thank you, Mr. Smith. I'm sure, the girl who would marry you would be the luckiest, and she would happily make you lots of such sweet snacks," Lina smiled back.

Wang looked at Lina's face, and then turned his attention towards Smith. Both of them were looking towards each other. "If you two are done with all this flirting, can we start with our discussions? Smith, do you even remember that today is the payday?" Wang interrupted.

"Ofcourse, I do," Smith replied.

"Do you, Lina?" Wang turned his attention towards Lina.

"Err.. No?" Lina stammered.

Smith decided to explain it to Lina. "Lina, today is the payday. And company's tradition is to go out as a team for a bonding experience with lots of drinks and snacks," Smith smiled.

"Oh! that sounds great, Mr. Smith. Who all, from the company, go out?" Lina asked.

Wang replied all of a sudden. 'Everyone from the management, except the staff members, who waste time flirting during the work time." Wang interjected and it was quite obvious that there was a hint of jealousy in his voice.

Lina blushed. She knew that it was her conversation with Smith, that Wang was pointing out to. "I'll write this in my diary, Mr. Wang. And, I would love to go out on the payday. This would be an amazing chance for me to mingle with the rest of the management of the company," Lina replied in a very formal tone.

Smith giggled. "Great! We go straight from work, and so, you can freshen up a bit, later. All the girls have to change and do out hair and makeup in the toilets after work. There are other girls of our team, who would help you with everything. I'm sure that Wang might have already introduced you to everyone," Smith winked at Lina.

"That's not my job, as Lina's trainer. Someone from human resource department should be doing this," Wang rebuked, almost immeditaly.

Lina agreed. Mr. Wang had a point. One of the employees, from human resource department, should have made all the introductions. Lina had been here, in the company, from many days now, and she still don't the know names of people who were sitting in the meeting room.

"Payday drinks will be the perfect opportunity to meet everyone properly, then," Smith smiled.

"Sounds good to me!" Lina agreed.

The meeting started and everything was back on track in the company.

Lina had secretly messaged her friend, Tina, to bring her a new outfit that she had purchased recently, while shopping with Tina. She could not wait to impress Wang, at the payday party.

****

A few hours later, it was time for everyone to get ready and head for payday party.

Lina was in washroom, with many other girls, getting ready for what was about to come.

"I love that lipstick, Lina. Can I borrow some?" Company's receptionist, who was also getting ready in the same washroom, requested Lina.

Lina hesitated. She was not usually the one to share her makeup, For her, it was a bit unhygienic and a bit skanky, but she was trying to make as many friends as possible, in the company. So on this occasion, she shared her lipstick with the receptionist. She drew the line on mascara though; She was not sharing eyelash mites with anyone.

"Sure, here you go." Lina, reluctantly, handed over her brand new and ridiculously expensive lipstick and watched the receptionist plaster it on.

The girls were meant to meet the boys twenty minutes ago, but the women, in the washroom, took forever to get ready. Lina changed and reapplied her make up quickly and was now just hanging out in the toilets, waiting for everyone to finish up.

"Oh! I've left my purse at my desk, I'll be back in a few minutes," Lina said to the other girls, busy with their makeups in the washroom.

Lina had not actually left it, but she just felt stifled in the tiny room, with its bright lights, smell of air fresheners and mixture of perfumes. There were just too many women squeezed in such a small space, all peac.o.c.king in front of the mirror.

Lina always felt that the women who worked at the company, were extremely well groomed and sophisticated.  And, so she assumed that no matter how many layers of makeup she would plaster on,  she won't ever be a called a 'sophisticated lady'.

Lina headed for the tranquility of the empty finance office and took a seat, just inside the door. Some had gone home, and some were at the company's guest houses, and all the lady staff members were in washrooms to freshen up. No one was there to see Lina, and so she put her feet up on the desk in front of her and leaned back, closing her eyes to make the most of her relaxation.

Lina's state of relaxation was suddenly interrupted by someone's voice. "I thought you were getting ready.. in the washroom."

Lina was surprised. It was Wang.
