Long Aotian understood. The chosen girl was left behind while the others quietly withdrew.

The girl walked up to her timidly. Joyce stared at her smooth neck. She felt tenser than ever before. It was obvious that the girl was the weak one, and not her, the vampire.

She carefully came closer, opening her mouth like any other vampire.

Knock!

Just when she hesitated and didn’t know where she should bite, a knock on the door suddenly interrupted her thoughts. She turned her head and looked at the door with slight panic.

Sean, who she had been avoiding for days, was standing outside the door.

Joyce swallowed her saliva.

“What can I do for you?”

“Nothing,” Sean said as he leaned against the door as if he had no intention of leaving, waiting to see what she would do. “You can go on.”

Even if he was doing nothing, the faint fragrance of his blood still reached her.

Discouraged, Joyce didn’t look at him.

Just keep going. It’s not like I can’t live without his blood.

With this in mind, Joyce was contemplating again as she got closer to the girl. She braced herself, opened her mouth and bit down cautiously.

The insertion resulted in a strong smell of blood. Unexpectedly, she choked after a moment, and rushed to push the girl away from the bed as she coughed violently.

If Sean’s blood was sweet in the past, then the blood she had just put her mouth on was like the one she had tasted before she became a vampire—a taste that was not like food. And her body naturally rejected it.

It was clear that she couldn’t taste anything when she ate food, but she could still distinguish the taste of blood.

Joyce coughed and her eyes welled up with tears. I’m giving up, she thought.

The girl was a little bewildered to see her like this, she stood rooted to her spot not knowing what to do.

Sean walked up to them and waved his hand coldly. The girl quickly left the room in fear.

Joyce recovered from her coughing fit, and the first thing that her mind went to was the strong sweet aroma around her. Her fingers, cheeks, clothes and sheets were stained with blood. The sheets on her side sank, and the man sat down by her side as if he hadn’t seen anything.

Joyce held her breath in shock, but the sweet smell shattered her fragile willpower at every opportunity. ·̩̩̥͙**•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚ ꜱᴜᴘᴘᴏʀᴛ ᴛʜᴇ ᴛʀᴀɴꜱʟᴀᴛᴏʀ ᴀɴᴅ ʀᴇᴀᴅ ᴏɴ ꜰᴏxᴀʜᴏʟɪᴄ.ᴄᴏᴍ ˚*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚*·̩̩̥͙

Sean did not speak. He seemed to be waiting for her response and sat quietly beside her.

She felt very dejected.

She really wanted to prove to Sean that she didn’t like him because of his blood, but now she was in such a mess.

Sean saw that she was silent for a long time and slightly leaned closer. “Does her blood taste good?”

“…” Joyce did not dare to answer. She stiffened again because he was leaning towards her.

“Is it…” His voice was faint near her ear. It was low and slow but had a slight change that was extremely hard to detect. “Better than mine?”

Joyce did not know if it was her own delusion, but she turned her head and looked at him as he spoke. Once she heard the second part of his words, Joyce froze in place again.

She couldn’t stop herself as his words made her gaze land on his neck.

She knew that under the fair skin was an extremely familiar and rich blood. Unlike the fishy blood that was hard to swallow, it was pure and had a captivating flavor.

Joyce gulped yet again. Her eyes were fixed on that spot, and she could no longer move for a while.

Sean slowly took out a handkerchief and carefully wiped the blood between her fingers and lips.

His movements were serious but slow as if he was really cleaning her carefully. Her eyes became more and more grave. After several days of hunger, delicious food was so close…

But if she took a bite, all her efforts in the past few days would be in vain.

“Why didn’t you come to me?” He wiped the blood on her lips, and accidentally scratched a corner. He repeated in a low voice, “If you want blood, why didn’t you come to me?”

Joyce came back to her senses. She brushed away his hands, and stood up in a flurry.

“It’s not… it’s not because of your blood that… that I like you.”

Sean’s hands were fixed in place because of her words. After a while, he retracted his hands and looked up. His eyes were on her again.

“Then…” He stood up. “What do you like about me?”

Joyce covered her lips and did not want to discuss such a matter with him at this time. However, no matter how much she dodged him, he always stood behind her as if he was waiting for an answer.

“You have… many good points,” she buried her head low and muttered. “For example, you are a righteous knight and you can do magic… It seems li-like you have a lot of money, so you have a lot of good points. Don’t feel inferior!”

Once done, she covered her mouth, while making a gesture to pat the stiff figure behind her on the shoulder.

She wanted to hold on a little longer and keep Sean away from her. However, the man behind her did not talk for a long time, which puzzled Joyce. She created a little more distance, and then looked back at the person behind her.

Sean’s face was pitch black.

Joyce froze. She clearly listed so many of Sean’s good points, so why did he seem to be… unhappier?

Her breathing gradually stabilized, and she slowly broke away from the desire for blood. After having calmed for a while, she hesitated and reassured him, “Truthfully, you also have many other good points, such as…”

But before she could finish speaking, Long Aotian suddenly barged in—

“Your Highness Joyce! Princess Elizabeth is back after sending the message for us!” When he saw Sean in the room, his face became cautious. “She said…. she’s here to save her knight.”
