The Chronicles Of Rhaxtyx

Chapter 3 - To Peasant From God, Maybe?

"Behold my power as I shatter this Stone!"

Rhaxtyx put his hand on the crystal and started to move his mana towards it. As he closed his eyes to let the mana flow, he noticed he couldn't move his mana! He could feel it but it refused to move. Like a scared cat, it didn't move anywhere.

'What is happening? Why it refuses to obey me?! Why can't I channel my mana into it?!'

After about a minute the crystal showed no signs of color. Angeline smirked while Rhaxtyx looked bewildered. Angeline spoke as she returned the crystal to her bag.

"Looks like I won."

"There's something wrong. I can't move my mana!"

"Yeah yeah. Whatever. So, mister 'God', you will keep your word I presume?"

"Yes, you will show me how to cast a spell, and I will go on a journey."

"This is not what we agreed upon!"

"I will not serve you, I do not know you. Why should I accompany you? You have nothing to give me."

"You can't use magic."

"I'm The God of Magic! Do you think it will take a long time for me to figure it out?"

"By the ancient contract-"

"STOP! STOP STOP STOP!"

Angeline chanted a spell while holding the grimoire. The circle Rhaxtyx was on started shining and he frantically screamed at Angeline to stop. Rhaxtyx knew that in his current condition, he had no means of protection. He didn't know what spell it was but it looked like it would send him back. Even though he had experiments, this world was much more alluring to him.

"So do you accept?"

" *Sigh* Looks like I have no other choice. But remember, I do not serve mortals. And you will show me the world. You and I shall accompany each other as equals."

"Works with me. What is your name?"

"Rhaxtyx."

"Raxix? Riktis? What is that?"

"Rhaxtyx!"

"Too long and weird. I shall name you Rex!"

"AM I A DOG?!"

As she made a triumphant pose, Rhaxtyx sighed heavily. As he contemplated how to approach this situation, he had high hopes for the oncoming journey. This was a different situation for sure. Some laws of magic were different as well. As he sank in thought he felt Angeline touch his shoulder. When he looked at her, he saw her extending her hand to shake hands, with a cute smile.

He looked at her soft hand. When he noticed a cut on her wrist, he furrowed his brows and thought.

'This woman really risked her life for this? There is something else, I'm sure. A reason to be this stubborn. Let's see how deep the rabbit hole goes.'

He grasped her cream white hand. A skin as soft as silk. She smiled as she looked him in the eye. When he looked back, he noticed her seriousness, her determination. Those dark blue eyes were burning with it. He was taken aback from this. Then he smiled and took her hand.

"So, does this suffice? Or should I dance or something?"

"This is enough. My name is Angeline. It is nice to meet you, Rex."

"Again, my name is Rhaxtyx. *Sigh* Whatever. It is nice to meet you also."

And with that, they completed their contract. From now on, these two souls would stay together for a long time. Rhaxtyx smiled involuntarily and firmly shook the soft hand he was holding. His red eyes shined brightly as he expected to learn great things from this journey.

"So, Rex. Now that we've made our contract, we have to leave soon."

"Leave? Weren't you supposed to show me some spells?"

"I will keep my promise but I have some urgent matters to attend to."

"So where is our destination?"

"There's a small village north from here. It will take us a week on foot as I don't have a means of transport."

"Cool. Let's go then."

"Wait. I have some stuff to take from the village that's nearby."

"Really?"

"What, did you think I didn't have any luggage and only had what I have on me right now?"

"Wow, you have a trauma don't you? Oh well, do what you have to do. I'll wait here."

"It won't take long."

They were situated at a wooden hut that is just outside a village called Kalden. This was a small farming village with the population of 183. The people here were trying to get by, as the lord of this territory demanded astronomical taxes. That was why people here were so poor and hated the local lord. They would do anything to rise up.

Angeline lived in this small village for almost 2 months now. She had a little bit of magic aptitude so she looked at the sick and injured. She was loved by the people here. Especially because she did not demand anything for these checkups.

'I wonder what they would think if they knew.'

As she was deep in thought she was walking to her residence. She would gather her belongings and leave this village. It was like this for the past 6 months. Always on the move, never staying too long. A travelling medic was a good cover for that.

"Ah. Sorry. Wasn't looking where I was going."

"It's okay, miss. Good day"

"Good day."

She bumped into someone while lost in her thoughts. And soon after that, she was in front of her residence and clinic. It was a humble place. It did not let patients stay for too long but there was a separate room for patients that had to stay for a while.

The interior was wide and it had enough space for a couple of people. That's why this room was designated as the waiting room. Fresh flowers that are picked from the woods nearby gave a refreshing feeling to the room and made it seem alive and colorful. She would water them every morning but she couldn't for the past week as she was waiting for Rex.

'And he said he was powerful! The crystal did not even respond to him!'

She was upset about him and the spell. It said in the book that if it takes longer than 2 days to summon, chances are you summoned an Arch Spirit. But he looked like none! He looked exactly like a standard low leveled demon.

'Well, no use worrying over it right now. What happened has already happened. I will gain nothing by it.'

She continued to pack her luggage to a small satchel and threw it over her shoulder. As she was getting ready to leave once and for all she stopped.

"Huh?"
