It was night time, the day before the envoys of the Hillan Imperium arrived for the peace talks and determining their course of action towards the aggressive Dynasties. It was common knowledge now that the 4 Dynasties, Heiheli, Niksia, Guyun and Hagz were preparing for an all-out war. The leaders of these states were siblings so their cooperation needn't be discussed. The people of the Dynasties were all born warriors so their combat power was a lot as well. Their only disadvantage was their poor soil. They could hardly make farms and they were mostly fishing, hunting and gathering. The north of the Dynasties, coastline of Hagz and Niksia was a cold desert with nothing but glaciers and ice formations so they could not rely heavily on sea either. Their purpose for this war was to reach more temperate lands and more fertile soil. But with Hillan Imperium on their west and Herron Kingdom on their south, they can only try their luck with force. Their sea faring technology is not that advanced as well, unlike the Kingdom and the Imperium so that is not a viable option.

Thus the Imperium and the Kingdom decided to take precautions against this. The offer came from the Imperium, saying they would send envoys to the Kingdom and the Kingdom gladly accepted. The servants were currently hurrying around, making preparations for the upcoming guests. The rooms were being cleaned all over again, this was their fourth cleaning session this week, and the chefs were taking care of the arrangement of the banquet. Everything had to be perfect, or heads would fly.

Outside the castle were the soldiers. They were in formation and were currently undergoing a live practice. There were patrols everywhere around the castle and capital city. Various trading carts were still making their way towards the castle in order to drop their shipment of foodstuffs, weapons and armor and other necessary goods.

The capita was lively as well. There was a festival like atmosphere with food stalls, game stalls and parades going on. The local circus was making a show around the town, advertising the free show they were making the day after and the bards were active as well, touring the city while dancing, singing and playing their instruments.

The Academy of Arcane Arts was also in charge of security so there were currently mages form the Academy, be it students or teachers, installing barriers around the city and the castle. These barriers would inform the mages and the soldier who was standing guard at that place of any unwanted guests.

While all these preparations were being made, King Herron was receiving reports from his officials in the conference room.

"In total there are 581 guards are stationed around the castle, with 100 on constant surveillance and patrols. There are platoons patrolling the city and there are also guards keeping watch on the walls all day and night long your majesty." (Captain Kaller, Armed Forces)

"Very well. Any news on the envoys?" (King Thelia Herron III)

"I have received reports that the envoys have met with our platoon of soldiers and are being escorted to the capital. They are saying that they will arrive tomorrow at noon if nothing happens." (Captain Kaller)

"Good. Dismissed."

"It is good that they are coming isn't it, Your Majesty?" (Vizier and Right Arm of the King, Gregory Hass)

"You are right, this'll take a huge load off of my shoulders. With the Dynasties moving more and more aggressively, we need allies. I glad that the Imperium is on the same page with us." (King)

"It is as you say, Your Majesty."

"I just wish from the Gods that everything goes smoothly."

After speaking with his best friend and his right arm, the King continued receiving reports from various departments. The city was going through its preparations as well, waiting for the envoys. Everything was going according to plan.

The envoys have met with their escorts, 14 royal guards. They received their arrival from a scout and decided to wait for them while having a small camp.

"Those bloody idiots. To think they finally made a move!" (Ambassador Karl from Hillon Imperium)

"It was kind of obvious though no? They were never happy with their lands up north." (Ambassador Ben from Hillon Imperium)

"I know. *sigh* I just don't like to travel too long of a distance." (Ambassador Karl)

"Then you picked the wrong carrier my friend. You should have become an official or something." (Knight Captain Damian of the Third Knight Order of the Imperium)

The knight captain spoke with his heavy accent. Normally, a knight captain would be punished after speaking to an ambassador. But Knight Captain Damian was special. He was a former war hero and had such accomplishments that even a general would look with wide eyes. He was offered the position of the 2nd General but he refused saying: "I'm a soldier, and a soldier belongs to the frontlines. Unlike a general who has to live and command." But the Imperium still gave him this position as they thought that Damian's accomplishments had to be rewarded somehow.

Ambassador Karl was of course, thinking him as a normal knight captain and was unaware of Damian's identity. Just as he was about to start yelling, they heard the sound of galloping. When they looked, their escorts were arriving.

"Took them long enough. Hey ladies! Liven up! Playtime's over!" (Knight Captain Damian)

"This is Sir Terry Pharlight from the Royal Guards."

"You are finally here aren't you!? The scout said you'd arrive an hour ago!" (Knight Captain Damian)

"We apologize for the delay but there were some pests on the way. My Royal Guards are cleaning the road for your convenience as we speak." (Sir Terry)

"Now that you mention it the scout did say there were 14 men. You sure 5 men are enough?"

"I request that you don't look down on our forces Sir!"

"I like your enthusiasm! I'm Knight Captain Damian of the Third Knight Order!"

"Did you hear? He said…" (Soldier)

"Shut up back there!"

Sir Terry de-mounted his horse and gave a knight salute to Damian with a lowered head. His respect and reverence could be heard in his voice

"It is an honor to see the Dire Wolf with my own eyes!" (Sir Terry)

"Cut the crap. I want to exit this forest before sunset."

"As you wish! You heard him! Men! To your positions! We are moving!"

With a hearty shout, the Royal Guards of the Kingdom of Herron positioned themselves around the envoys and the knights under the command of Damian like a shell. Once the envoys were on their cart, they talked among themselves.

"I cannot believe I was just about to reprimand THE Dire Wolf!" (Am. Karl)

"Hahahaha! I know! Man it would be sooo funny!"

"You knew!?"

"Of course! Hahaha! Who wouldn't want to know his bodyguard right!?"

"Shut up!"

After about half an hour of journey, they came to the place where the remaining 5 Royal Guards were 'cleaning'. The blood splatters were still fresh and under the sands, as if they wanted to hide the evidence. Once they saw Sir Terry and the Imperium Knights, the 5 Royal Guards tensed up and tried to avoid eye contact.

"Relax men! Good job on 'cleaning'. The pests are reproducing uncontrollably." (Sir Terry)

"You're right. The occasional sweeping would be nice. They are literally everywhere." (Damian)

"Looks like we will not be able to leave the forest today."

"What do you mean?"

"There is still a lot of ground left to cover until the end of the forest. We will of course keep moving but it is impossible to leave with our pace. I predicted that we would reach the capital around noon tomorrow and it checks out."

"I see. It is a shame then. We shall continue to the best of our abilities then."

"As you wish. You three, stay in front of us. Find a suitable camping place along the road."

Sir Terry pointed at the three men that were waiting for them. They hurriedly nodded and left with their horses. The remaining two joined the formation and they continued on their road without knowing.

But that was a knowledge only some people were aware of. A wave would come crashing down to the Imperium and the Kingdom, marking a new era. The Dynasties were finally on the move with their full power!
