The Commoner Consort: The Country's Respected Empress

The man's face turned viscous and spat "Queen?! You?! You think A filthy pauper can marry The Crown Prince and rule us?!".

Maya wonders "Does any rule in your country say otherwise? Can I not be?".

Sarah opens her eyes stunned and blurts out hurriedly  "No! There is no such rule!".

Maya almost laughed at Sarah's sudden comment.

'This girl knows quite a lot, doesn't she? I should keep her with me for assistance everywhere! She will be very useful when I want to know about the rules of this country!'.

The man's face turned even uglier and hisses glaring Sarah "Drag this trash out of my sight!".

Sarah gets scared as the man was staring at her harshly. She gulps and about to look at Maya seeing some men approaching towards her.

But Maya drags Sarah beside her in a single pull "What is the matter Sir? Did she mention anything wrong? If so, only I can punish her".

The man yells "Step aside and save your life instead! You won't be alive everytime! It's very fortunate that you have got saved twice! Do you think you could be saved by someone again?!".

Maya smirks "Could be saved? By whom Sir? I don't remember any of you saved me even once! Don't praise yourself so much when you .. do not deserve to be praised.. And for saving me twice.. You should be ashamed of showing your face for not investigating anything in a proper way!".

The man yells "How dare you!".

Maya laughs lightly "How dare I? I fear I would not dare to disobey Your Emperor but You would do!".

The man grits his teeth "I don't want to talk to a beggar anymore! Step aside and let me do my duty!".

Maya smirks "Then how can I allow a thief to enter into My place?!".

The crowd gasps in disbelief.

"Thief?!"

GASP!!

"Did she call our Official a thief?!".

The man's face turns red in anger and roars "A thief?! You filthy-!".

Maya answers innocently "If someone enters my place without my permission, how could I call them? A Guest? An Official from The Imperial Court? Is this what your Imperial Court's etiquette? Roaming around everywhere where you aren't even welcomed?".

The man strides towards Maya harshly. He swears under his breath while he stomped his foot hard during the walk.

Sarah grabs Maya's arm scared "Maya! Let's leave from this place-".

Maya creases her eyebrows to think of a way to handle the situation. But everyone freezes by hearing something.

HORSE NEIGHS

Maya opened to rebuke but stops hearing the sound. Her mouth involuntarily whispered only one word. 

"Charles!" 

Obviously, she could recognize anyone whom she met just by their sound. Not to mention her favourite first horse Charles!.

"Prince Xavier has arrived!".

Maya blinks and frowns hearing the announcement 'Charles and Prince? How could- May be The Strangerman is accompanying the Prince?! What if he sees me here-".

Maya was so absorbed in her thoughts, she didn't notice Xavier has already entered the Entrance.

As soon as she looked a single man, with hard footsteps walked parting the crowd, as if they are intended to show his authority over the country and especially at the current situation. 

Everyone watched his arrival in shock.

The man who was intending to hurt Maya stands frozen as if he saw someone with two heads.

Poor man! He would have fooled by the trap set by Xavier. Xavier purposely informed the Palace that he would not be in the country for few days to find the people who makes a move against the Emperor!.

As soon as he watched the Carriage and horses marching towards the Countryside Pavilion, he decided to pay a visit. But he didn't expect any of these incidents to happen this way. When he heard the last line of the man, he lost his patience and rode in hastily.

Poor Xavier didn't realize whom he is going to save. He couldn't even recognize Maya's voice as his mind didn't even think of her voice as he didn't expect any of this completely. He was just focusing on the Officials harsh tone and his disdained words.

When he finally reached the spot by splitting the crowd, he was surprised at first. But instantly  his heart freezes realizing that Maya was about to be attacked by the man. His mind is not that absurd to not understand and untangle the situation.  

'My Lady... is...Lady Maya?!'.

Seeing her standing with her held high facing the man almost attaching her, made Xavier to go speechless. She stood as if no one can harm her. Xavier has bunch of feelings flooding his heart and making him to suffocate. He forgot everything and just stared her.

Everyone was watching the two person who silently stared at each other as if they have seen something unimaginable. If any stranger saw them, they would have definitely misunderstood their stare but here no. No one would even dare to speak out them in words. At least not in Prince's presence.

THUD!

"Long Live Prince Xavier!".

"Long Live Prince of The Northern Country! ".

The greetings from the crowd made the two stunned people to get out from their shock.

Maya couldn't believe her own eyes seeing the man kneeling before Xavier as if he is the most obedient servant in the whole nation!.

'Don't believe if someone says the presence of rich people doesn't change anything. It does! It does everything to everyone! This ugly man! Look at his obedient face which is making me to disgust him even more! Such a boot licker!'.

Everyone was waiting for Xavier's single word 'Raise'. But he is so engrossed in this strange situation. 

The Official clears his throat "Your Highness?". As Xavier completely forgot to tell them to raise, he had no other way than reminding him himself. 

Xavier speaks staring at Maya who was busy loathing the Official "No one is allowed to move from this place. Wait for your Queen's order as This Territory belongs to Her Highness!".

Maya ".." Queen's order?! My territory?!

Xavier didn't wait for even a mere second before he started walking out of the place hurriedly.
