The Commoner Consort: The Country's Respected Empress

Maya sighs giving him the Bow back "I cannot do this...".

'Seems...I am used to be a mere commoner...'.

She gasps nervously and turns back in defeat 'Am I used to be an illiterate already? Why am I suddenly scared? What if I cannot learn anymore? What if I fail in learning? I could not even remember few new names these days. I think...I should let it be..but..No...I want to learn Archery..but why am I suddenly scared of learning?'.

She is in the stage of her life in which she is already used to being a mere commoner. She is scared of her sudden freedom of learning as she is not accustomed to it for now.

She feels like a prisoner who had lived her entire life in prison and suddenly thrown out of the prison.

Just like how a fish struggles when it has been thrown on the land! This whole new world is not a very comfortable circ.u.mstance for her. At least not for now.

Poor did she know...What all she would be learning further in her life. She is still unaware of the greatest lessons which are waiting for her ahead in her path.

Maya frowns feeling something and realizes that she was still standing next to Xavier.

Her frown fades and her eyebrows relaxed seeing Xavier held her hand without letting the Bow go from her hand.

She mocks "You won in the challenge, didn't you Sir? Let me go, will you?".

Xavier smirks equally "I don't like winning a challenge without a potential opponent. How can I win when you didn't even shot a single arrow? Wouldn't that be unfair for my opponent? This Prince would never allow any injustice to happen, would he? Not even for my enemies".

Maya rolls her eyes "But I don't want to learn anymore".

She tries to free herself from his grip but Xavier is equally stubborn enough to not let her go from his hands.

Maya closes her eyes 'I am tolerating only because I do not want to hurt him. But he is asking for it now'.

Xavier states proudly "A Royal never backs out from his challenge, My Lady".

Maya frowns "But I am not a Royal. And I do not need any of those burdens of honours to carry".

'I have enough on my shoulders already'.

 Xavier speaks while she turned to leave "Whether you accept it or not, this is your destiny. One can divert from their right path temporarily. But they can't escape from their destination. One way or other way, you should reach to that destiny someday".

Maya stops at his sentences and turns to see him.

' Is he warning me? '.

Xavier shrugs "A Royal can't be scared to face any danger in front of him. It looks like your really afraid to live a Royal's life".

Maya rebukes with a serious frown "I am not scared".

' Even if I am, why should I agree to him?'.

Xavier chuckles at her confidence. He walks towards her with his bow and mocks her "You are afraid to even shoot an arrow. Seems, you just deserve to be a commoner. A simple … scared commoner".

Those humiliating words were enough to trigger Maya and her anger.

She states sternly "I am a commoner. Yes! And I am not ashamed of being a normal person!".

She walks towards him further and blames him on his face "You might be so proud of being just born in Royalty and getting your invincible status but I am not. I neither resent being a commoner nor fantasize to become a Cold hearted Royal Queen!".

Poor did she know? She would eventually become one?

Xavier blinks after she stopped speaking.

'Her audacity will make her to pay some dire consequences in future. I can see it'.

Maya is already breathing heavily while ending the sentence. She didn't even think of the consequences of her words.

She just humiliated A Prince at his face! I wonder what Kalki would have done to her as a punishment, if he heard her talking to Xavier in the way she talked just before!

Xavier tilts his head and bends towards her till he takes a close look at her face. He smirks "Why are you angry? Did I point your cowardice?".

Mata fumes "I am not a coward!".

Xavier rebukes as if he was waiting for this particular reply from her "Yes! You are! You can't do anything-".

Maya rebukes instantly "I can do anything!".

Xavier shrugs "You told me you can't shoot an arrow just before! You also told before that you never lie, didn't you?".

Maya "…" He is trying to corner me with my own words!

She also recalls herself saying that she never lies to a person that she doesn't care!

Xavier raises his eyebrow and gives her a devilish smile, which almost made Maya shiver.

She doesn't know whether it was frightening or not. But she immediately avoids his eyes. She couldn't able to afford looking his eyes further.

She just stutters "I-I can-".

Xavier laughs lightly and stuffs the Bow in her hand in next moment "Then prove it!".

Maya is taken aback by his sudden move ".." Did he just trick me?! Honestly?! Was I too naive to not see this coming? How is he doing this to me?!

She looks at the Bow in her hand and stares Xavier with a fretful hump.

' He deliberately provoked me, didn't he?! Now I have to shoot the arrow! Maya! Can you not control your temper?! Now look what you have gotten yourself into!'.

She stomps her foot displeased and outstares him in anger.

Xavier only took an arrow from his quiver and handed her purposefully ignoring her 'fear me' stare which she was doing to scare him.

' Poor Lady! She bought it and become a victim of her own anger'.

Maya purses her lips and swats Xavier's hand away and grabs the arrow as she was ruffled by his challenge.
