THE CURE: Tales Of A Highschool Girl

The rest of the week passed pleasantly, after the talk between Jacob and Alice they started a new and fresh friendship very clear. When I questioned Alice about it, she just answered me that Jacke had made real changes in his life, he was like a completely new and better version of himself and I think probably he also apologizes to her. Edward was trying hard to forgive him too, Tuesday night before going to sleep (because we had acquired again our old habit of meeting in my room every night secretly) I talked to him and asked him to give Jacob another chance exposing that if Alice and I could forgive him, the most reasonable was him to do the same.

Next Friday, after our friendship became stronger and we spent all the lunch together, we decided to hang out after school; so we went to a coffee shop called Yummy & Ready (a new franchise) and we ordered for pizza before going to the cinema. Everything was going great except Alice's behavior, she was still showing distant to me so I decided not to let another day go by and I talked to her in the first chance I had while the guys were buying the tickets.

— Alice... — I said doubtfully trying to show myself calm even if I really wasn't.

— Yes, darling? What's on your mind?

— Why are you so distant to me? Did I do something wrong?

— I'm not distant, baby. — she said cutely kissing my head and ruffling my hair with her hand.

—Of course you are, and I also can feel how you've been avoiding me.

— Well... I think I could have a couple of ideas of why or friendship has been so weak lately.

— Does it have something to do with Jacob?

— What? No way!

— Are you talking about me? — Jacob said from our backs while he was ruffling our hair with his hands and taking me the chance to clear things up with my best friend. In meanwhile, Edward was holding a tray with two popcorn buckets and three sodas, so when he saw us of course he didn't miss the chance to laugh about us when he noted how disheveled we were by the playful gesture from Jacke.

— No one is talking about you, silly. — Alice said showing her tongue to him as a little kid.

While they were joking and chasing each other through the room, Edward took advantage of the situation to close to me and, after putting the tray on the closest table, he grabbed my waist with one hand and combed my hair with his free hand. His closeness made a wave of heat rise all over my body and so I felt an overflowing need to kiss his lips. A few seconds later, he slipped his fingers over my back with the hand was combing my hair before while he was placing a lock of hair behind my ear that clogged my face with his other hand. I felt my skin was burning with his touch and so I stood on my tiptoe to kiss him, he kissed me back with passion and then we both were pushed away by Alice and Jacob to the ground, they had accidentally pushed us while they were running around. They helped us to get up while both were so embarrassing, everybody around the place was already looking at us and the guilties kept apologizing to us by ignoring the fact that Edward and I were uncontrollably laughing.

After that, we entered the movie theater, and at the end of the movie, we went to the food court of the mall and decided that we would eat Chinese food to top off the pizza from earlier. This time, it was Alice and Edward who went to order the food while Jacob and I went to set aside a table since the place was quite full. Jacke took advantage of our moment alone to open up.

— Lizzy, I should thank you again for taking aside our issues from the past and accepting me as a friend.

— As I told you at the hospital, Jackey, I overreacted a little. We weren't truly together and you had the right to decide who did you wanna be.

— If I am honest, I truly wanted to be with you. But I'm always have been an asshole with girls so I preferred to lose you instead of telling you how I was feeling about you. But now I know I already lost you and I know there's no way back, you are happy with another man and I'm okay with that. It's just that I... I have to tell you something, I'm afraid if you notice what I want to tell you for other people I will lose you again so I will better tell you by myself.

— What is it so bad that you can lose me again?

— Jeanne and I — he hesitated a lot before finally telling me — we are in a relationship now.

— What did you just say? When did it happen? — I asked him with a fake smile.

— A couple of weeks ago. But please don't get mad at me, I got carried away by my feelings that time she kissed me and...

— Jacke! Stop please, you don't have why to explain yourself, we are just friends and I'm also with somebody else so I don't have the right to get mad at you. I'm glad you both are on a relationship now, you look good together and I appreciate your honesty.

— Really? Thanks for taking this mood! — said him kissing my hand in a gesture friendly with a wide smile.

— Of course. — I answered trying to smile with no authenticity.
