"Why won't you accept my offer of marriage? You can have everything you want, and you can always relax, let me do the work" Alex said to her, which made her tense up.

'This topic again?!?'

"Umm... I already have someone I like." Samantha reasoned. She confessed to her other best friend but got rejected. Irene comforted her, but she was devastatingly hurt that she almost gave up ln life.

The atmosphere became cold for a moment before returning to normal. Samantha felt the coldness for a moment. She looked st the expressionless Alex and wondered what he was thinking.

Then, she suddenly got a text from Irene.

'This better say I'm sorry.' but she froze when she saw the whole message.

[I'm sorry, beshy, it's just... Eric texted me and asked me where you are, and I thought you'd be love stricken again and hurt yourself.]

'Eric is back?' She thought. Eric was the one she confessed to when they were kids.

*Flashback*

At a hospital, a woman was crying. It was Samantha, and she just found out her mom died. Beside her, there was a man with bright black eyes and his features has a bit of childishness. He was Eric.

"Shh, don't cry." Eric comforted her, but what he said made Samantha cry even harder, but Eric was patient. He was already friends with Samantha from when they were kids. They did everything together. Even their parents were friends, back then, Ronald was kind to Samantha.

"Mom said she would come back home." Samantha wailed like a child. She was hugging Eric and her face buried in his c.h.e.s.t. She still can't get over the fact that her mother died. Her mother's laughter this morning echoed in her ears over and over again.

"Samantha, I'm just going to the supermarket?" She remembered what her mother asked earlier.

"Get me ice cream, please," Samantha answered her mother like a child.

"Okay, I'm going now." Her mother bid her farewell, but Samantha never thought that that would be the last time, she will ever hear her mother's voice.

'Mom, I promise to be a good girl always. I'm sorry that I sometimes throw a tantrum.' Samantha promised to herself.

Samantha wanted to ask Eric to be her boyfriend, but she never got a chance. She never thought that her mother would die and this taught her a lesson and cherished the people you love, so she braced her heart and did the thing she always thought was impossible.

She got out of Eric's embrace and looked at his eyes before kissing him. Eric was stunned and stood still. She broke the kiss and asked Eric: "Please be my boyfriend."
