The Demon In You

"Are you sure we won't get caught?" Rian whispered.

"Relax," Hyunjae assured her. "No one can see us."

They were outside of Rui's apartment, climbed atop a tree. They were trying to peek into Rui's unit, keeping an eye on her activities. So far, she did not do anything suspicious and her demon Saion was nowhere to be seen.

"What if someone catches us?" Rian asked in a worried tone. The branch she was sitting on was extremely sturdy but she was afraid that someone will notice them spying on Rui and call the cops.

"Quit yapping woman!" Hyunjae scolded her. He was on a higher branch, with a pair of binoculars glued to his eyes. He zoomed in the binoculars to see Rui preparing dinner for herself. 

"She's making dinner now," he commented. "I don't see anyone else there."

"What about her demon?" Rian frowned. "Saion should be there."

"Nope, he isn't there," Hyunjae replied. "Did he leave again?"

"Hey, you two!" a voice barked from below.

Hyunjae and Rian looked down to see a police officer glaring at them.

"Oh shit!" Rian cursed. They were caught. "What do we do?" she panicked.

"Just pretend we didn't see him!" Hyunjae exclaimed.

"I can hear you two!" the policeman shouted. "Get down here!"

Resigning to their fate, both of them climbed down. 

"What the hell were you two doing up there?" the policeman demanded. He looked at them suspiciously from one to the other. 

The two of them were thinking hard, trying to concoct a story.

"Were you trying to steal?" the policeman asked, alarmed. 

"Of course not!" Hyunjae said, affronted. "Do you really think an exquisitely handsome man like me would steal from others? I've already been bestowed with a lot of money and good looks."

He flashed a charming smile at the officer, who was taken aback by Hyunjae's overconfidence.

"Then what the hell were you two doing up there?"

Before Hyunjae could reply, Rian beat him to it. "We were simply trying to get my scarf from down there, weren't we honey?"

She smiled and slid her hand into Hyunjae's arm. Bewildered by the woman's a 180 degree turn, he simply nodded and smiled. 

"You see officer, this scarf is so important to me!" Rian said sweetly, pointing at her scarf. "It is the first gift Hyunjae oppa gave me." 

Op-oppa? Hyunjae's head almost exploded. What the hell is this woman doing?

"Were you two really looking for a scarf?" the officer's eyes narrowed. The two people in front of him did not look like a couple. He was very suspicious of their story.

Rian knew that he doubted their claim. She needed to act fast otherwise they'd end up in jail. 

"Yes, sir!" Hyunjae said. "I was looking for my dear girlfriend's… Scarf." 

"Oh honey, I love you!" Rian squealed and cupped Hyunjae's face into her hands before pulling him into a kiss. 

Hyunjae's eyes widened in shock as Rian gave him a deep kiss. He was almost about to choke when she finally let him go. 

Seeing them kiss, the officer believed their claim. 

"Alright," he grumbled. Youngsters are too bold these days, he thought. "Off you go!" 

"Thank you, sir," Rian smiled politely while Hyunjae was too shocked to talk. "Let's go, oppa!" 

She gently pulled him away and headed towards his car, which was parked behind the building. 

"That was close!" Rian felt relieved. "I told you the plan won't work!" 

She turned around to see Hyunjae still in a daze. She snapped her fingers in front of his face. 

"Earth to CEO," she called him out impatiently. "Are you lost?" 

Hyunjae said something inaudible. 

"What?" Rian asked. "Can't hear you." 

"De...filed," Hyunjae murmured. "First… Kiss…"

"Huh?"

"You stole my first kiss!" Hyunjae wailed out. "I was saving it for 'the one' and you ruined it!" 

He started to walk to and fro, ranting on his own. "My lips are so precious! They were supposed to be for my soulmate and you defiled them!" 

"How was I supposed to know you never kissed a girl before?" Rian rolled her eyes. "Besides, that officer wasn't believing us so I had to kiss you-" 

"NOOOO! DON'T SAY THAT!" Hyunjae closed his ears, bending on the ground. "I refuse to believe that was my first kiss. I cancel it. CANCELED." 

Rian watched in dismay as the big baby w.h.i.n.ed.

"Alright alright!" Rian exclaimed. "It's cancelled and your lips are v.i.r.g.i.n again. Happy?" 

"No!" 

Rian have had enough. "Forget about your darn lips!" she shrieked. "We need to find out if Saion is really possessing Rui or not!" 

Still pouting, Hyunjae got up. "You'd better take responsibility for that kiss." 

"Okay," Rian agreed. "I'll treat you to some dessert. Happy?" 

"Steak dinner, ramyun and the dessert at a fancy restaurant," he ordered. "Along with drinks." 

Rian felt like tearing out his hair. "Fine," she said. "Anything else, your highness?" 

"Chicken soup would be nice." 

"Might as well give you milk and cookies and tuck you into bed while I'm at it," Rian fumed. 

"That will be nice." 

Rian pinched his arm. 

"Ow!" he cried, massaging his hand. 

"Focus!" she ordered. "We need to find that demon!" 

"Oh yeah?" Hyunjae challenged her. "Turn around you lunatic." 

Confused, she turned around to see Saion coming out of the building. Hurriedly, she pulled Hyunjae behind the bushes. 

"It's going somewhere," Rian said. "But if it apparates, how will we follow it?" 

"Leave that to me," Hyunjae smirked. She watched as he made a circular sign on the ground. 

"The earth which provides us with the gift of life," he chanted. "A creature of the dark is lurking in the night to sway us astray. Guide us to its lair, so that we can destroy the darkness for once and for all." 

A whirlwind of dust began to pick up pace. As Saion disapparated, a ball of brown dust formed in front of them. 

"Get in! We have to follow the dust ball," Hyunjae ordered, getting into the car. "It will guide the way."

Confused, Rian did as he instructed and they drove off, following the dust ball as it rolled down the road.
