The Demon In You

Chapter 28 - The Meeting of the Leads

Changmin was sitting in the meeting room with his Secretary. They had been waiting for over an hour for the CEO of TNT. Changmin was running out of patience.

"Oye, Kim Jaehee," he called in annoyance. "Where is the hell is this guy? How long do we have to wait?"

Kim Jaehee flipped the page of the magazine she was reading. In her mid twenties, Kim Jaehee had long, dark hair which was tied into a ponytail. She was wearing a casual t-shirt with BTS logo on it and jeans with it. Not paying attention to her boss next to her, she was busy listening to 'Boy in Luv' on her headphones.

Changmin was irritated. Pulling off her headphones, he asked, "Oye Kim Jaehee! When is the CEO coming?"

"I don't know," she said in a monotone, putting her headphones back on.

Changmin was about to pull them off again when his hand was caught by Jaehee, who tightened her grip.

"Ow ow ow!" Changmin cried in pain.

"Don't touch me, perv," she threatened. "I'll file a harassment case against you."

"But I didn't do anything!"

"Doesn't matter, I just want to see you in jail while I take over your money."

Changmin gaped at her. "Who said I'll leave my money with you?" he snapped, snatching his hand away from her grasp.

"Don't worry, I can forge the doc.u.ments," Jaehee replied with a gleam in her eyes.

"Tch!" Changming scoffed. "How the hell did I end up with a Secretary like you?"

"And I too curse my luck for ending up with the second male lead," Jaehee lamented.

"S-second male lead?" Changming guffawed.

"Yeah," Jaehee shrugged. "I mean, you check all the boxes of a second male lead. Gets introduced late to the story, wants the heroine for himself after separating her from the male lead, has a tumultuous history with the male lead and wants to bring him down to get the girl. Boy, you are so second male lead."

"Y-you little!" he wanted to strangle his Secretary on the spot.

"Try touching me and I'll add maggots in your tea," Jaehee threatened with a smile. "Again."

Changming pulled back in fear. Thinking of that incident made him want to throw up.

"Whatever," he said, trying to keep calm. "Nowadays second male leads also get the girl. I'm here to get the Demon Seer for myself and I ain't going down without a fight."

Jaehee gave him a disgusted look. "Pervert," she twitched her nose. "I should call the cops on you for stalking and planning for kidnapping."

Changmin scowled at her. Whose side was this chick on? Why couldn't he get one of those obedient and loyal secretaries from the typical romance novels?

"Call him," Changmin ordered her.

"You call him," she shot back. "You have the number."

"I don't want to!" Changming exclaimed. "It hurts my pride to call that guy!"

"Well, I don't want to either," Jaehee said smugly. "I'll have to pause my Jungkook oppa's songs if I make a call now."

"Oppa? Isn't he younger than you?" he frowned.

"All handsome idols are my oppas," Jaehee declared.

Kill me, Changmin thought cringing inside. Save me from this sasaeng.

The door opened. They looked up to see a long haired man in bright blue clothes and sunglasses approaching them. Following him was a smaller, dark haired girl.

"So this is the Demon Seer," Jaehee muttered. Changmin nodded in reply.

Putting up a smile, Changmin extended his hand.

"It's a p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e to meet you CEO Hyuk," he greeted. Hyunjae looked at his hand warily, while Rian observed the two men.

"We should talk in private," Hyunjae suggested, not taking his hand. "Rian, please show Ms. Kim our cafeteria. I'm sure she would love a cup of coffee and some snacks."

Startled, Rian said, "Yes sir! Please follow me, Ms. Jaehee."

Jaehee slightly bowed at Hyunjae and followed Rian out of the room. On her way, she texted her boss.

"Let me know if his company needs a Secretary," she wrote. Changmin saw the message and wanted to throw the phone at her head.

Once the girls were out, Hyunjae sat down. Changmin, too, took a seat opposite him.

"Mr. Hyuk, I'm here to-"

"Cut the crap," Hyunjae scoffed. "We both know why you're really here, Lim Changmin."

Changmin was not surprised. Instead, he relaxed and leaned back, crossing his legs.

"Oh so you recognized me," Changmin commented with a smile. "Long time no see, Demon Lord."

Hyunjae gave him a hard stare. "I admit I didn't pay attention to you before," he said. "But after seeing your profile carefully today, I finally recognized you. Funny how you were eluding me all this time and now you're here to sing with my agency."

"Yeah, well I felt that we should fight head on rather than play a cat and mouse game," Changmin said, toying with a pen in front of him. "It's so boring to plan from the shadows."

"What are you up to?" Hyunjae rolled his eyes. "All these years you stayed away and now you suddenly want to fight me? Why?"

"You have something I want," Changmin smiled. "I'm just here to take her back."

"You want to take Rian away," Hyunjae guessed. "Why?"

"We both know the reason," Changmin leaned forward. "She will die if she stays with you. It's in her fate. I'm not gonna let you kill her again."
