The Demon King Seems to Conquer the World

Episode 003: The Life of Suzuya *

My name is Suzuya.

I was raw in the southern part of the peninsula, in a land called Sirena.

The geology of the land is not suitable for wheat production, but the lake water is plentiful and the grass that serves as pasture grows well, so people keep sheep, goats, cattle and other livestock in the woods, while hunting in the woods and living in semi-human hunting.

It was the Howe family, famous for their martial names, who became lords, and the people of Sirena lived a serene life under them eagling about every single thing.

I'm a little alienated now, but I should still be living the same life.

Until I was twenty, I lived the same life as my rural daughter everywhere.

Let me introduce you a little bit.

The farmer's day starts with the cooking.

My mother and I got up before our family fathers and brothers and it was routine to prepare breakfast and men's lunches.

When we're done eating, we send the men out hunting, and when we're done cleaning up, we go outside chasing the men.

First we follow the livestock, releasing the livestock to the grazing land.

Then we go to the weedlands to collect the grass that will feed the leaves.

A grassland is a pioneering area that has been developed over the years by knocking down a few trees.

Unlike grazing land, it is bordered by marshes and the grass grows well, but if livestock is kept here, the livestock will occasionally drown in the water.

So we're building a fence to keep livestock out of it and making it a human lawn mower.

The weeds that grow here will be mowed as you sit back and poke them, making them a bundle for easy portability.

Now I think it was a lot of heavy labor.

The grass mowed here does not feed the livestock immediately.

While the weeds are growing, they release the livestock to grazing land and feed the naturally growing weeds.

The grazing land is land for this purpose, and the grass mowed in the grazing land becomes hay which serves as food for the livestock in the winter.

Collecting hay over the summer will not collect enough for all livestock to go through a long winter.

So it was common to slaughter before winter and adjust the number.

In the morning we mowed the grass, finished lunch and in the afternoon we went into the shallows of the woods to collect fruits and medicinal herbs.

After a short fall, it's a long winter, and when you fall asleep like the flora and fauna in the mountains are dead, you spend your days doing those tasks: spinning yarns, making cloths, or embroidering.

While we are doing so, it is spring and mowing begins again.

I lived such a boring but full life.

In those days, my grandmother and mother, and I were the only women in this house, so I couldn't go to my daughter-in-law or take a son-in-law because when I was gone, I'd run out of women and I couldn't maintain my livestock.

If your brother were to marry, my marriage would be from then on because my daughter-in-law would come, I would go to my son-in-law, I would increase or decrease the number of people.

That's why you were supposed to adjust the number of people you lost or increased on your brother's fringe, on my fringe.

When your brother turned twenty-five and I turned twenty, we came to talk about just the right friendship and your brother got a daughter-in-law.

We have one more adorable daughter at home, and instead I am going to another house to marry her.

Some time after the feast of my brother's dowry, I was accompanied by my grandmother, the head of the family, who was to visit houses all over the place to find a dowry.

A little further south, there seems to be a lot of romantic marriages and so on in the village, as there are massive rural areas in relation to full-scale farming, but there are no such settlements in Sirena, a land close to the mountain.

In the woods, the house where the family lives is just dotted with pomposity.

When it became a large settlement, the hunting grounds in the woods became cramped, because of inconveniences and fights.

That's why your grandmother used her brother and almost sent her an edge letter.

The house where you want me to be your daughter-in-law will tell your brother on the spot or if you listen to people, you will send a letter to my house.

And then my grandmother took me around the house.

At the threshold of the Sirena region, in a face-to-face setting that takes place ahead of us, both sides are to be told no specific stories for the wedding.

It was considered an impeccable act, and a house that wanted a wife or son-in-law was considered courteous to show an attitude with hospitality rather than telling it in words.

So I said, "I'm glad you have a wife like this coming to us. It's like we've already made up our minds," he doesn't say anything pushy, serves delicious alcohol, treats with meat from the best parts filled with hassle-free vanilla for collection, "this guy works three times as well as people, and more importantly, he's honest and gentle," so he appeals to the goodness of the husband candidate.

I, too, prepared the welcome as a welcome side when my brother's dowry, so I was frightened when I was on the receiving side, and I got in trouble with the embarrassing, sorry thing to do.

Anyway, it was the first time I've met so many others in a row in such a short time, and it was the first time I've eaten such a lot of treats.

At that point, my stay across the street ended well and I met him on my way home in a good mood.

When my grandmother and I walked down a pathway that was also crude and so narrow that people couldn't help themselves, there was a bird (cakedri) coming from the end of the road.

Driving birds (cakedri) are giant birds that cannot be ridden.

That's a fast running creature, but it's more weary and about big food than a horse, so it's not much for farming or carrying loads.

Because horses are more suitable in most cases, unless you are in a hurry.

They say eggs are delicious, but meat is not delicious, so farmers don't hold cakedri, even if it's so rich.

Neither does the merchant hold a cakedri unsuitable for carriage.

Nature and rides reserved for the upper class or knights.

That's not why it's considered an exceptionally noble ride as much as a horse, and there's no law punishing ownership, so even peasants and merchants can ride it if they like cakedri, but they don't seem to do much of that for fear of buying the surroundings.

That was the circumstance, so we took off the street in surprise to give way and hurried into the grass.

Kakedri came here on a rhythmic run and when he noticed us he slowed down naturally, walking faster and slowing down even more.

That's how I stopped perfectly in front of you.

The rider's man was wearing cotton clothes that looked sturdy and at first glance he didn't know who he was.

However, the clothes were not as coarse a cloth as my daughter like me wove to one of the hassles of agriculture, but a cloth that seems to have been woven by a craftsman, and it also looked well dyed.

You rode well, Kakedri has no appearance of being stopped from running and being grumpy, with his neck clenched and nearby grass stuck.

The man who is your lord, after seeing Chira and her grandmother, saw me.

Keep your eyes and eyes peeled.

As it were, would we have been staring at each other for about a minute?

I wonder why this one is staring at me so much.

And I wondered.

To the lid, my grandmother opened her mouth.

"If you are not the son of the Howe family"

I saw my grandmother as a hag.

"Yes, it is."

The man replied politely, took his eyes off me, and looked at my grandmother.

Speaking of the Howe family men, they are centuries-old lords in the land and, if it is a battle, people riding spears and driving birds (cakedri) and going out in battle.

But the guy was kind and polite in his language, and he didn't seem like a martial artist.

"I'm here with you. My daughter belongs to a farmer near here. We've gone quite a long way to town to find our dowry."

"I see."

That's all the man said, he looked at me again.

My grandmother seemed confused because she didn't know what more to talk about than introducing herself to this man, and speaking poorly could be rude.

Then you look at me again for a few dozen seconds,

"I stopped, and I'm sorry. Can I go home before nightfall?"

I said.

"Yes, I'll be right there."

"Take care, then. Now excuse me..."

The man slowly drove the bird so that we wouldn't wear sand and dust, and when we got a little further, we drove away at higher speeds.

It was a week after that that that we had a dowry offer at home.

At the Howe's, you're welcome in a mansion like you've never seen before, and I remain frightened.

That man I met on the road was the second son of the Howe family, and that he had no martial arts talent, although he was born in the Martial Family, and that he was working in the breeding and ordination of Tori.

My grandmother said in two replies to get this fringe, and I didn't say no either.

That's how I got married, and I walked into the Howe family.

Even so, it didn't mean that he entered the large mansion of the main house, he lived alone in a small house in a different place from the main house, where he was to live together, so the size of the house didn't change much.

Five years after we got married that way.

I continued to live happily ever after and was given my first child with him.

The child was very quiet from birth, so much so that the midwife thought it was stillborn when she saw my child who didn't even give birth.

The midwife seemed to suspect she was a handicapped child because seeing my child, who sucks well after three days of life, is too quiet and unraveling.

I just wasn't too worried.

This kid certainly doesn't cry much, but he calls me properly out loud when he's hungry, etc., or when he wants me to change diapers.

Besides, this kid looks so relieved and happy when he finishes his chores and I snuggle for him.

If you let it go over your chores, you'll feel lonely, or you'll look lonely in your crib.

If you're a normal baby, don't hesitate to cry and call your parents if you miss them, but this kid needs to notice you from here for the lack of it.

That's when I hug you up and talk to you, you get a very warm and gentle look.

I'm sure this kid is lonely and sweet.

The person who named this child Yuri is Gouk Hou, the head of the House of Hou and the leader of the Knights of the House of Hou.

He was a great thank you for being my friend at the wedding and lending clothes to my family who only had crude clothes.

Yuri remembered to stand and walk as if she could rush into something when her body was formed, asked where the bathroom was and graduated early from diapers.

By the time I was three years old, I had asked him to teach me the letters, and when I taught him, now I started reading and fishing for difficult books that were at home and that only my husband could read.

When my husband was there, I read and listened, and my husband borrowed books in the occasional commercial capital of Wang.

My husband's read-and-hear stories are fresh, even when I hear them, and they were interesting.

Celebrating her third birthday, her husband took Yuri to work, as promised in advance.

When I came back, I wasn't sure, but my husband spoke with joy that Yuri was talented, and she seemed to be so excited about her experience today that Yuri wasn't always there either.
