The Devilish Assassin Meets The Angelic Detective

After his encounter with Phantom last night, Charles had been bothered about how he acted in front of him. It was not his intention to be rude or to be disrespectful towards his Master. It's just that he couldn't control his emotions.

Living alone for these past two years without Elle or Phantom by his side was quite hard for him. He felt like he lost his family once again. He missed the old times.So as soon as he woke up this morning, he decided to go to the place where the three of them were reunited two years ago.Charles was now standing in front of the Falcon Cafe. Series of memories flashed through his mind as he watched the inside of the Cafe which had been already closed down for two years now.This place held pleasant and happy memories together with Phantom and Elle. It seemed that the past events were kept on replaying in his mind right now.He could see himself talking with Elle at the bar counter of the Cafe, teasing each other. He recalled the moments the three of them were happily chatting and eating together inside the Cafe.He couldn't help but chuckle as he remembered how Elle made him slice one sack of onions as his punishment before. How he wished that it could still happen once again.He was willing to be punished million times as long as Elle would just return and come back to his side."I miss you… I really miss you, Elle." Charles mumbled. Tears already burned his eyes and his lower lip trembled as he said those words. He clenched his fists both in sorrow and fury. He still couldn't accept that she was gone.With his bloodshot teary eyes, Charles wiped the tears in his eyes using his b.a.r.e hands before he decided to leave.He started to walk away when suddenly he bumped into someone."Awh!" The girl grunted from that body contact.She almost fell from the impact, fortunately Charles reacted fast and caught her waist to steady her footing."Miss, are you okay? I am sorry about that." Charles apologized in an instant.When the girl got a clear view of his face, she gasped in surprise."Sir Charles!!?" she exclaimed.Charles frowned the moment he heard that sweet familiar voice. He lowered his gaze to see her face. He was also surprised when he recognized the girl."Elena?"Elena's eyes lit up the moment she heard Charles calling her name. She was very happy that he recognized her. She immediately pounced on him, hugging him so tightly.If Charles missed Elle so much then Elena also missed Charles so much. That was the main reason why Elena would always drop by Falcon Cafe every morning.And she was glad that she did it today. She found him. She finally saw him. She bumped into him. That person was Charles who was always in her mind for these past two years.Charles didn't know how he should react. Elena was hugging him so tight that she was almost squeezing him. He could feel her soft and warm body against him.He was still baffled. He didn't expect to meet her today. But of course, he hadn't forgotten her. He was also glad to see her. Elena held a special place in his heart also because Elle considered her as her younger sister.After some time, Charles also hugged her back. He was stroking her hair while rubbing her back. He was very sad a while ago but feeling her warm embrace somehow gave him a sense of comfort.Then suddenly he just felt some moisture in his shirt. That's when he noticed that Elena was crying. The stored tears continued to flow and the sobs wracked her body, robbing her the ability to speak and barely allowing a breath to be drawn.Charles began to panic. He didn't know why she suddenly burst out crying."Hey...hey… What's wrong? Why are you crying?" Charles asked her, continued stroking her hair.Elena couldn't utter a single word. She just shook her head and buried herself deeper into his arms. She held him tightly, afraid that if she let go Charles would disappear again."My dear… Elena… please don't cry. Stop crying." Charles said desperately, feeling so helpless.Taking a deep breath, Charles decided to let her be. He just stood there silently coaxing the girl who was crying in his arms. Maybe, she just needed to pour all her emotions at this moment.After what it seemed like ages, Elena finally stopped crying. Charles felt that she already calmed down a little bit. She was still sniffing though and her eyes were already red and swollen because of crying.Charles let out a soft chuckle seeing her sorry state. She was still cute. He brought his hands on her face, wiping her tears."Come… let's find a much more comfortable place to talk." Charles softly suggested to her.Elena just nodded at him. After that, Charles guided her to his car. He drove her to a certain restaurant. He hadn't eaten anything yet.After ten minutes of driving, they found a restaurant. He parked the car and led her inside. They ordered some light meals. After they settled inside, they began to talk."How are you, Elena?" Charles asked her curiously."I am living well with Dr. Clara." Charles nodded with a smile. "I am glad to hear that.""I am already a registered nurse and I am currently attending Med School to fulfil my dream to become a doctor.""Wow… I am so happy to hear that. Good job, Elena! I am so proud of you." Charles said, patting her head."Yeah. I am persevering every day. I didn't want to disappoint you and my sis Elle."Charles fell silent after Elena mentioned Elle. His mood changed immediately. He forgot that Elena had no idea what happened to Elle two years ago."Sir Charles, what happened to you? What happened to sis Elle? I missed all of you. I didn't hear any news or updates regarding the both of you in these past two years. I thought both of you had already forgotten me." Elena said, there was a hint of sadness in her voice.Charles looked down, contemplating whether he should tell her about what happened to Elle or not.After his long silence, Charles spoke up."Your sis Elle… she died two years ago. She was gone now...Elena."Clank!The sound of glass breaking was heard. Elena had dropped the glass of water on the floor upon hearing Charles's statement. She was shocked beyond belief after hearing that."W-What??! H-How… No! It couldn't be… sis Elle…" Elena didn't know what to say. She was quite shaken by this bad news."I'm sorry. No one told you about this. I am sorry, Elena."Elena's face became pale in an instant. Her heart tightened. She felt very suffocated.'No! No! My sis Elle…' Her brain couldn't process the information or rather she didn't want to believe it.But looking at Charles' expression, Elena knew that it was the truth. He was not lying. Then suddenly she felt like her surroundings were spinning. Before Charles could realize what was happening on her end he just heard a loud thud.Thud!Elena suddenly collapsed and fainted in front of him.
