The Devil's Bride

Back in Hemsford, after the devil's bride procession left with Princess Kathleen, each person who's now in castle had different feelings.

Some felt relieved that from now on the kingdom will be safe from any of the night creatures attack, some think that it was a pity to sacrifice such a lovely princess, some don't even care as long as it didn't cost their own life. But there is one person who had mixed feelings, King Lionel Rosenberg.

King Lionel had been sitting in his office for hours since his daughter left was having a headache. He has intended for his youngest daughter to be married with the crown prince of the Volkenshire kingdom to have a political connection with the military base kingdom, now ruin.

He was genuinely happy when the young prince asked for his daughter's hand in marriage. He could gain great ally if the marriage successful. But he couldn't do anything about it now, "this is all the devil's fault! now how am I going to tell Prince Henry about this news?".

He was so worried about what will be the consequences if he ever offend the crown prince, worried that the prince might launch an attack to his kingdom.

'A war against the Volkenshire Kingdom could cost everything my kingdom have, I can't afford to fight such a strong military kingdom. Should I send a letter blaming the devil and ask for Prince Henry assistance? their force was so strong and if we combine forces, we might win against the devil and could possibly nullify the blood contract', he thought to himself.

Without wasting any more time, King Lionel wrote an unofficial letter personally to Crown Prince Henry, :

Crown Prince Henry of Volkenshire,

in regards to the discussion we had the last time when you were here in Hemsford, about the marriage between you and my Princess Kathleen, I'm afraid that it won't be able to get to the next level.

I've written this letter personally to inform you that I couldn't fulfill your request for I have to give up on my youngest daughter to be the devil's bride.

This situation broke my heart for I do have the intention to marry my daughter to such an amazing prince as you are, but to defy the devil's request will cause war, and my kingdom couldn't afford to face it as we don't have enough military resources.

To this, I King Lionel Rosenberg, humbly ask for your forgiveness Crown Prince Henry, as I have to take back what I have promised you before.

The king sign and stamp the letter with his royal seal and then he put it inside an envelope with Hemsford Kingdom's emblem on it. He called one of his guard to hand the letter to the royal best courier to send it to Volkenshire as soon as possible.

After the guard went out of his office to attend to his order, King Lionel can finally take a deep sigh and relax a little bit. All he can do now is to wait for Prince Henry's reply. 'I hope the young prince will give positive reply to my letter' thought the king.

King Lionel was reading some reports when his wife Queen Helena entered the room with his permission. She looks beautiful in her sky blue dress and glimmering crown. She walked gracefully towards the king and give a respectful bow to King Lionel.

"Why won't you get some sleep your majesty?"

"I can't sleep, my queen"

"Are you worried about Kathleen or is it about the crown prince of the Volkenshire Kingdom?"

"Both actually. Though I'm worried about Kathleen's safety, I'm sure the devil will keep her safe for now until an heir is born. But my current worry is, what if the crown prince feel offended by not fulfilling his wish to marry our daughter and start a war?. We can't afford to fight them head on, their army are too strong" said the king to his wife.

King Lionel does not normally share anything related to the kingdom's affair to Queen Helena, but this matter was related to their daughter, moreover he was too worried that he couldn't keep it to himself.

"Do you think we can ask for the devil's assistance if ever a war happen? he can be considered as an in laws anyway since he married our daughter" suggested the queen.

"Do you think he will have such a good heart to treat us as in laws and help us? he is the devil, he's heartless!. Even if he lend us help, he will ask for more from us, making us at disadvantage"

"But what shall we do now? Does Prince Henry mind if we send the other princess to become his wife?"

"No, that's not possible. Prince Henry told me personally that he has fall in love with Kathleen, I don't think he will change his heart that easily. But I've sent a letter to him regarding this matter, let's hope for a positive reply from him soon. If his heart is truly for Kathleen, he might try to take her back from the devil. We can join forces with him to fight the devil, and if possible we can try to nullify the blood contract" explained King Lionel to his queen.

"Let's pray for your plans to be successful your majesty. For now, let me accompany your majesty for a healthy breakfast" she smiled sweetly to her husband and escorted the king to the dining room where they will enjoy their breakfast together.
