The Devil's Bride

Chapter 33 - His worries

A red haired little boy was sitting in the middle of a barely lit room with just a candle flickered at one corner of the room. He sat there as he helplessly call for his mother to wake up, but she seemed to be immovable even when he shakes her body a few times.

Tears started to threatened his silvery gold eyes as he keep on calling for the unconscious woman who lied on the bed.

"Mommy, I'm hungry.. please wake up", but his mother didn't move.

"Mommy.. please.. ", he tried again in his sob. He had been calling for his mother for hours now, but his mother won't wake up and her body getting colder.

"Are you unwell mommy? is that why you keep on sleeping?.. Well, I will wait for awhile longer untill mommy feels better, get well soon mommy", he said as he kissed his mother's cheek and cover her body with a blanket. He curled up on the bed beside his mother, hugging her cold arm and drifted to sleep with his growling tummy.

....................

Kael woke up in the middle of the night, disturbed by his dream about his past. It was very disturbing that he couldn't get back to sleep. Kathleen was still sleeping on his left side, her beautiful n.a.k.e.d body was covered with the silk cover.

Wiping his face with his right palm, he sighed. 'it's in the past, just a bad memory. I won't let it happen again', he promise to himself.

Looking at Kathleen's peaceful sleeping face, he sighed again. C.a.r.e.s.sing her soft cheek skin with his thumb, Kael wonder if all women do have soft skin. Kathleen's whole body was so soft and supple, it feels good to touch.

He watched as his wife stirred a little from his touch when his fingers brush gently down to her neck area. She looked so cute when she mumbled something in her sleep.

"What are you dreaming about, my darling?", he asked in a whisper, and she replied with another incoherent words, which earned a smile on his lips. It was one very peaceful night if it's not because of his bad dream. The Dark Forest was stilled, without any sound from the nocturnal animals or the night creatures. How he wanted to stay like this forever!

But no matter how much he wish for peace, he knows very well that this tranquility won't last long. Something or someone is scheming behind his back, killing the werewolves. He couldn't get any clue yet on why & how did the bloody scene happened, all he have now was there was a scent of human around the area which brings him to his next question; how can a human kill a werewolf with such a clean cut?.

The humans was known to have less power compared to the werewolves, it will need more than eight trained soldier to kill a single werewolf, but the human's scent that he notice in the area was a single scent, it's impossible to achieve a killing with just one human.

Moreover, the first blood was a strong leader of a pack.

There was another problem which caught Kael's attention. A prince from the neighboring kingdom was planning for a war against the Black Palace. Apparently, they were planning to take Kathleen back to Hemsford.

This news was reported by his pet, Midnight, an owl. Midnight normally scout around at night, while his another pet, Crux, a hawk, scout at day time. Both of his pets scout around the continent for any important info and reported it back to Kael to keep him updated on what was happening outside the Dark Forest.

If the human really dare to call for a war, he need to keep his werewolves ready in perfect shape. But with the current situation, might hinder him from doing so as the murder case hasn't been clear yet.

Kael aware that he need to get as much clue as soon as possible before the fire of war broke in order for him to find the mastermind behind the case. He need to calculate his every move!

Whether the human come with war or in peace, there's no way for Kael to let Kathleen away from him. He doesn't have any plan to give up on his bride.
