The Devil's Bride

"Kathleen"

A soft whisper calling her from somewhere.

"Kathleen, come here dear"

The voice of a woman was calling her in a very low whisper as if she was trying to tell her a secret.

Kathleen was standing in the middle of the bedroom, trying to locate the voice. Whoever the woman was, she doesn't know, but her voice had been calling her for many times now.

She walked to the door and realized that the voice came from outside the door. Taking a peek outside, she noticed that nobody was standing by outside guarding the door. Normally the butler will be outside, her maid too. But surprisingly nobody was around.

'I wonder where everybody gone to?'

"Kathleen"

The voice rang from the hallway. The area was dimmed, only a few candelabras with lit candles on the wall lightening the long hallway that seem endless.

"Kathleen come closer"

"Who's there?", she asked.

"Come here"

"I can't, what do you want?"

"I can help you, come"

"I'm sorry I'm not allowed to go out from this room", said Kathleen while trying to close the door but she was pulled out of the room from some unknown force the she almost fall on the cold floor.

She steadied herself and push the door to open it but to her surprised, the door won't open. Even worse, she was barefooted that the coldness from the floor sipped through to her bones.

The chill sent goosebumps all over her and the empty barely lit hallway doesn't help at all. Kathleen looked around for help but not a single soul can be seen.

'Kael', she called her husband but she didn't get any response. She's getting worried now as she knows very well that there will be punishment awaiting for her once her husband return.

"Kathleen"

Once again, she heard the voice.

"Who are you? what do you want from me?". Kathleen getting worried, this kind of situation will be the doom for her if she stayed outside any longer.

"I can help you Kathleen, come closer", the voice called again, with such a beautiful sound of voice as if tempting her, poaching her to walk away from where she was standing now.

One step, two steps..

Her legs took her away from the bedroom's door. To her defense, she didn't move her legs, she didn't want to, but some force were controlling her, making her move without her consent.

"Help.. Kael! somebody help! anybody!", panicked was all over her now and she tried calling for help.

Three steps, four steps..

Kathleen was getting further from her bedroom.

"Come to me Kathleen", called the woman.

"No.. please don't, I don't want this. What are you doing to my body?"

Five steps..

"Don't be afraid Kathleen, I can show you a way out from this dark place"

"Stop!", she cried out, forcing her body to fight the unknown force, it was too strong for her to the point where she was hurting every muscle she have. Kathleen was struggling to make it stop but it was like her body won't listen to her demand, at this current moment, she didn't own her body.

She was in tears, she was afraid, she doesn't know what was happening, she couldn't understand the situation at all.

'Where was her husband? he will always answer when she call, never like this. Where was the servants? they always around to guard her'

Kathleen was now shouting for help while forcing her body to stop walking. She tried to hold on to anything around but nothing could help her. She was forced to walk, with every step she takes makes her even more scared, she was sweating cold sweat.

She's afraid, so afraid of the unknown force, of the voice, of her current predicament. She couldn't even have control of her own body!

"Move closer Kathleen"

"No! release me!", she yelled out loud.

"Release me!"

"Kathleen, wake up my darling, open your eyes", suddenly she heard her husband's familiar voice close to her ear.

"Wake up wife", called Kael.

Her eyes shoot opened and she could see her husband's handsome face close to her, his hands was holding her face and her shoulder.

Kathleen looked around her to see that she was on their bed, in their bedroom. Kael was close to her, holding her.

"There's this voices calling my name, a woman's voice. I was force to walk away from this room, I called for you but you don't show up, I'm so scared", she said in a trembling voice, she was still terrified of what happened to her.

"It was just a bad dream wife, don't be afraid, I'm here with you".

"But it felt so real", said Kathleen. She can still feel the pressure from the unknown force.

"Believe me, it was just a dream. Get some sleep now, close your eyes, I'll stay close to you"

"Alright. rplease don't leave me"

"I won't. Now sleep"

Feeling relief now that her husband was around her, Kathleen close her eyes.

But what she didn't aware was, there's still traces of footprints on the dusty hallway outside their room, and Kael don't have any plan to let his wife know about it.
