Chapter 3 - First Battle!!

Rein arrived at the lake while holding his fishing rod over his shoulder. Rein's sword was strapped to his side as he advanced. The lake was huge but it was too dark outside to see what the lakes coloration looked like. Rein put a fake worm on the end of his hook to draw and trick some fish like what he used to do when he went fishing with his dad.

This should catch me some fish, this trick has worked so many times when I went fishing before." Rein swung the hook into the water, he had a bucket to put the fish in at his side. Rein could just buy seasonings from the system but couldn't buy food or water. Rein could pretty much buy things to help him cook food more efficiently but couldn't buy actual food.

Time passed slowly, Rein could hear cricket throughout the night. Rein was feeling bored and very hungry, he was even tempted to eat some grass but held back. Rein simply filled himself up with water to sustain himself, just when he bored and feeling bad due to hunger, the fishing line shook.

It's about time! I think I got myself a big one, I can already taste it." Rein was elated that something finally hooked his rod. Rein pulled while trying to reel it in, the creature he pulled in came into view. It was an all black fish with sharp teeth and red eyes. Rein had never seen such a fish before, was it some type of piranha? The fish landed on the ground and start flopping madly, Rein decided to use his appraisal ability to figure out what it was.

Rein was slightly freaked out seeing this fish but it was edible and it even said its taste was really good. Rein used his sword to stab the fish, killing it. Rein just threw it into the bucket and proceed with his fishing, he would head to the cave after catching about 2 more.

Time passed, Rein just sat onshore awaiting to catch some more fish but then heard a sound in the forest. Something was creeping in the forest, but whatever it was couldn't handle it for long and charge out towards Rein.

What the hell!?" Rein dodged to the side to escape the attacker trying to sneak him. What he saw was a huge boar, it had brown fur with 2 huge tusks. Its eyes were bloodshot red, the boar didn't spare Rein a glance and started to eat Rein's fish he caught.

So you think you can just come here and eat someone else's catch. If this is the case I'll just have to make you my food then!" Rein wanted to use his pistol but he would rather not attract those Zom freak over here if he can. Rein opted for his sword, he was much faster and stronger than before, he could feel the Life Energy around him better as well. Rein had even grown more smarter, this made him more cautious as well, so he decided to appraise this boar for caution sake.

The boar could sense the killing intent coming from Rein and was offended by it. The boar gave a war cry and charged towards Rein using it heavy ram Technique, Rein didn't want to get hit by this or there would surely be a price to pay.

Damn pig bastard! Do you really think you can hit me like that!" Rein dodged to the side and shot a fireball at the boar. The boar squealed but shook it off, the boar face grew serious. All of a sudden its tusk started to grow bigger and turn sharper. Rein already somewhat knew what this attack was, it was Tusk Assault.

uh oh, not good!" Rein face changed a bit, he then shot out lightning shock toward the ground to trip the boar up as it charged. Rein attack created a decently deep lined crack in the ground which was enough to trip the boar. The boar fell face first onto the ground with a thud sound, Rein didn't need to think about what he needed to do next. Rein rushed toward the boar and aim his sword right towards its neck, blood shot out like a water fountain, the boar screamed in pain. Nevertheless, the boar still got up to rush to attack Rein in one last death struggle.

Bro, just die already! I am starving here and you ate my food." This boars determination was commendable but annoyed Rein, he just wanted it dead! Rein didn't bother to attack it more and decided to let it bleed to death, after 3 minutes of playing tag, the boar finally drop dead.

Goodness, it about time. I didn't even have to waste that much Life Energy. This is a better catch than some fish, it even has healing properties." Rein was very happy about defeating his first true monster, he felt accomplished.

Alright, I better put this boar into my storage ring to cook up when I get back." Rein put the boar into his ring and picked up his bucket and left towards his cave. Rein arrived at his cave to see Graves still standing guard and looking forward. Rein simply told him to stay on guard, graves didn't say anything and just continued to stand guard. Rein walked into the cave and Yozara was still knocked out from earlier.

Rein headed over to the big space within the cave to take out the boar. "It time to gut and clean this thing, I will use the body parts that I won't eat as fish bait later on." Rein then started to gut and clean the boar, he chopped off its meat and put it into the bucket he had. This boar was quite huge and would last him for quite some time. Rein threw the rest of the boar back into his storage ring for some other time, he had chopped off the meat he planned to eat today.

Rein then bought seasoning from the system, he even managed to buy a special stove that didn't require electricity for 500 System points. "Alright, lets season this meat up and cook this bad boy up." Rein eyes were filled with greed, he couldn't wait to stick his teeth into this meat. Time passed and the meat was finally done, Rein then put all the meat on one big plate.

Hmm, Should I wake Yozara up for this?" Rein questioned, he then thought she still needed some sleep. Rein then put her share into the storage ring. The meat would remain hot and would stay how it was when it was put in there from the beginning. Rein began to chow down, he even had his own dipping sauce off to the side. Rein almost felt tears coming down his eyes, this meat was just too good! After 10 minutes, Rein was finally done eating, he had greedily gobbled all the meat before him up.

Oh man, I feel so relaxed now. Let me run over all my earning from today." Rein looked at all his earning but what stuck out to him was this mysterious egg. It was crimson and gold in color, Rein decided to put the egg into the egg incubator and sat it in a safe place in his cave.

Hey system dude, what is in this egg? Do you know what it is?" Rein was curious, at first he was thinking about cooking it but thought otherwise.

[That is a beast egg, it would become your summoned beast once it is born. You will have to mark it with your blood now while it is in its egg form. This beast should have a high bloodline, so it is advised that you take good care of it.]

Oh, Since that is the case I will leak some blood on it then." Rein didn't hesitate and cut his finger a little with his sword. He leaked his blood on the egg and it started to glow bright Gold before subsiding.

System Guy, is that enough?" Rein asked

[That is indeed enough, there nothing more to do now than wait for it to hatch. Keep it in the egg incubator until it starts to glow, this will let you know its about to hatch.]

Rein nodded and pay no more attention to the egg. He then looked at the evolution card, what did this mean? Rein thought that the card would raise his Combat strength but wasn't sure. "System, what does this Evolution card do?" Rein asked

[This will evolve Summoned monster. Every monster has different paths to evolution. I will give an example, the boar you killed could choose to eventually evolve as well, it could take the path of becoming a bigger and stronger boar or become humanoid pig like entity which is the orc. This will stem from a stronger path like the Orc knight or so on. This will also increase their intelligence and they would eventually be able to have full blown conversations with you.]

Rein was amazed, doesn't this mean he could evolve his Raid Zombie as well? Rein called over Graves, the Zombie was close to breaking through to Copper Grade 3. "System, Do you know what a Zombie would evolve into?" Rein asked the system another question.

[There are two paths that each creature can take. You can keep your summoned beast going towards the Zombie path, then it will turn into a ghoul and later on evolving into some other undead Zombie type I don't know of. Then there is another path where it would lose its skin a become a skeleton Soldier. Eventually, you will have to choose to keep it as a warrior class to work towards a death knight or some other strong entity. Then there is the Mage class that work towards a lich, etc.]

Rein was shocked, getting a lich or a death knight, How cool would that be!? "Hmm, I killed that boar, why didn't it become my summoned monster?" Rein was confused, he killed this Zombie and it turned into a soul and became his summoned beast, so why didn't the boar?

[This doesn't happen all the time. So it could only stem from fortune, so you shouldn't expect to get the said creature you killed as a summoned beast.]

The system answered and crushed Rein's dream in a heartbeat. Rein couldn't help but feel a little sadden about it. "Alright, use my Evolution card on Graves, I want to see his paths as well.

[The skeleton Soldier leads to the lich class, after soldier you will get the option to evolve it into the mage class or to keep it as a warrior class which leads to the death knight, eventually.]

Alrighty, Evolve to Skeleton soldier." Graves started to glow upon Rein's words, it was engulfed in green light. The Zombie started to lose its flesh until it was bones, then a fire started to glow in its eyes. The transformation only took 1 minute until its completion.

The Skeleton Soldier had pure white bones that looked so smooth that it looked like someone shined them. Its bones were pretty thick and could even be used as weapons when in a fight. "Good, Very Good, this is what I want. This summoned beast will become stronger soon, his Combat strength even went up." Rein was excited seeing his newfound beast, he would need to hunt some Zombie later to raise his Combat Level. Just as he was enjoying his beast, he heard a m.o.a.ning sound, he looked back only see that Yozaru was waking up.

She opened her eyes and sat up, she stared at Rein and the tall Skeleton Soldier behind him in shock. "Wh..What is g..going on?" Yozara was intimidated by the skeleton behind him but knew it wasn't dangerous to her somehow.

I have many things to explain to you, I also need to hear your story as well. I got something to eat for you so listen to me first and enjoy the food." Rein pulled out the fresh meat from his storage ring, Yozara had already been shocked before but now she was dumbfounded. She knew she would find out soon so she didn't question him and took the plate of food. The whole cave started to smell like the meat, it was honey on it with other spices to accommodate it. Rein sat down on the bed and began to explain to her about the situation.
