The Duchess of the Attic

10. Count territory

"Congratulations, lady. I was really surprised when you wrote to me that you were married. So, are you okay with being back so soon? What about the Duke? I can't believe we've already had a fight..."

Opal laughed at Marcia's usual chatter after a warm embrace as she almost cried.

"You're rude already! The Duke was too busy to be with you, but I really need to check something important. Besides, I was supposed to go home after the season, but I went straight to my daughter-in-law, so I wanted to say hello to everyone. The truth is, the Duke and - I wanted to come with my husband, but that's another chance. 'Cause there was so much rush."

I didn't like Opal, who kept lying while slowly entering the mansion.

Still, I can't help but worry about everyone.

But it wasn't all a lie.

"Is Trevor here now?

"Yes. Will I see you later?

"Yeah. I'll just stop today. It's important, so I need to get some rest, and I need you to do me a favor tomorrow when I have time for Trevor. Will you ask Trevor about your plans for tomorrow?

"Yes, sir."

Opal asked his butler, Orton, to go to his room the same as before.

The room was always ready for use and Opal exhaled deeply as if he hadn't been able to breathe in months.

"Lady, welcome home! Oh, the Duchess?

"Stop, Naja. As always."

Naja, the maid who came out of the bathroom in the room, shined her face when she saw Opal.

Naïve Naja is often pissed at Marcia for not being polite, but still adored by everyone.

Opal is one of them, because Marcia spoils the lady, and even Opal gets a novel.

I thought you were really back. Power fell out of your body, and Opal lowered his back to the bench.

"You're tired, lady. We'll have a bath ready in a minute, please wait."

"Thank you, Naja"

I guess soon after Opal got his report back, Naja went on to prepare me for a bath.

I'm so glad that the care is tired and forgettable.

But the words that followed also bore Opal.

"No, we're all glad the lady is back, even temporarily. And me, of course! Because when I heard you were married to the Duke, I was surprised. I thought there was something about this shocking marriage."

"Huh?"

"'Cause unlike me, it sounds like a smart, cautious lady would marry in such a hurry. Well, the Duke was cool, wasn't he?

"Yeah, yeah. Right."

"What kind of person are you? The Duke."

"Right...... I only danced once three years ago when I first met you. The Duke doesn't like people very much, and he rarely goes out on social occasions, so it's already floating around."

"Well!"

"So, it's been a while since I've seen you again the other day... and when I realized I was married"

"Fair enough! How passionate!

Opal slowly replied not to lie to Naja's words as she raised her voice with the washroom door open.

Then Naja seems to have given the answer on her own, excited.

Guilty, Marcia came in with a tad of water when Opal was in trouble to figure out what to do next if asked a deeper question.

"I knew you were bothering the lady with the chatter, Naja?

"Yeah? 'Cause you want to know, lady's love bana"

"This, thick banana?

"Difference! Marcia doesn't know what it's like to be a maiden."

"No more, just bring the water!

"Yes."

Marcia was not angry with me or how I punished her, and Naja left the room in a light foothold.

Opal chuckles at the usual exchanges.

I thought this was our home.

"I'm sorry you came home all of a sudden without contacting me, Marcia. You're keeping everyone busy."

"What are you talking about, my lady? You don't have to contact me, but the lady can always come home. Even if you're married, this is your daughter's house."

"Oh, this is your father's house."

"Speaking of which, you did."

For years the Count had not returned to the territory, and Marcia joked about it and the two of us laughed.

Then Marcia pounds about empty, as she remembers something.

"Yeah, yeah, I was. Olton said Trevor will be in the study tomorrow afternoon."

"Really? Thank you, Marcia. Well, I guess I'll have my afternoon tea in the study."

"Yes, I did. Okay, I'll bring it to your study."

"Yeah, please."

While discussing tomorrow's appointment, Naja and the other maid showed up with a sag, and the hot tub filled with hot water.

So Opal takes a bath, then lightens his dinner, and takes his time.

I never thought the time I'd taken for granted before, the treatment would be more thankful.

I really think I was blessed, and then I wonder if I could just leave Hubert like this.

(That's like running away...)

The opal of the original losing personality was becoming more and more regrettable.

It's what weak people do, like run away without fighting.

(And it doesn't matter what you think, does it? Why do I have to be treated so disruptively? That angel's medical bills are covered by my money, right?

I do feel bad for being incurable, but I think that attitude is terrible.

I don't want you to fall back and thank me, I just want you to be respectful.

From the statement that they bought the Duke for money, the Duke family was not supposed to have any idea of the current situation.

Yet I guess that attitude is still imitating to my husband.

(I don't know how much you don't mean. That's what I'm talking about!

Opal accidentally slapped the cushion. Many times.

Then just a little anger subsides, breathe and vomit, and breathe.

He was pretty stressed out, too, because he'd been stuck in the attic the whole time.

Tomorrow morning I decided to even ride a horse, and for that I decided to go to bed already.

(Well, anyway, I know exactly what your father said now. My husband is sweet.)

With a sigh of goodness, Opal closed his eyes twirling into his long-time fuzzy duvet.

I was still tired, and from there I quickly fell asleep without thinking.
