The Duchess of the Attic

14. Duke's residence

In the carriage to the Count's territory, Trevor and I briefly confirmed our plans for the future.

Let Omar work while he's being watched at the Count's house.

"Of course it won't be easy to escape, but there won't be anything you can't do. Because we're not going to tie you up in a rope all day and just let you sit down. But, you know, seriously, if I get a report that you work at the Count's house, I'm gonna ask my husband to mitigate your sins. If you don't tie yourself up, you don't have to spend the rest of your life in a cage."

When Opal told him so and made him listen, Omer looked back suspiciously.

Instead of being frightened by that gaze, Opal smiles.

"In the first place, you are nothing right now. I asked Lebow to lend you money so that it wouldn't pass on to a decent loan. So if you're going to bet like before, you're going to have to ask for an undisciplined loan."

Omer seems to have figured out how that ends.

If you still want to borrow money and gamble, it's not what Opal found out anymore.

Originally, you can go to the store immediately, but then Hubert's lack of supervision will be exposed.

In that case, the public will also be informed of Hubert's debt and the circumstances surrounding his marriage to Opal.

With that in mind, Opal is taking generous steps.

Trevor says it should be rich this year.

So Opal was going to invest in the Duke's territory from his property to renew the farming equipment used by the inhabitants.

And after making farming easier, if the harvest is successfully completed and you earn money, start building houses and roads for the inhabitants.

Street maintenance is so massive that this plan will take years, but Trevor also undertook for me that the Duke's territory has local power, so long as it doesn't continue to be so massive a disaster.

It won't be a problem next year if Hubert takes over the aftermath, even if it's remote.

Even if this plan fails, it's about Opal's private property when it comes to losing it.

Upon his return to the consulate of the Count, Opal left it to the butler, Orton, to tell him about Omar's circumstances, and two days later he left again with Trevor for the King's Capital.

If you pass on this plan, Hubert might change that caustic attitude that would be from the debt burden.

When Opal arrived at the Duke's mansion in the King's Capital with that in mind, the only greeting was from the butler, Romit.

Still, Opal asked Romit as he entered the mansion.

"Where is my husband?

"... you're in the South Tea Party Room"

"Yes...... So, do you know what your husband plans to do tomorrow afternoon?

"I haven't asked in particular..."

"Then I want you to tell my husband. After lunch tomorrow, he wants to see you in the study because we need to talk about something important. Some of the customers I invited at that time, so thank you."

"... Yes, sir."

Leaving a disgruntled romit, Opal turned first to the guest he had been given.

So I ask my dissatisfied Beth to prepare the bath again, and then I go into the attic again.

Apparently, they weren't even cleaned while Opal was gone.

On his way back to the guest room, he hurried to the wrong maid to clean the attic, and Opal soaked himself in the prepared bath.

Opal then asks Beth to help him get dressed. When he gets dinner in the attic, he lays on a stiff bed.

Hubert never came to see him or called him, even though Opal would have noticed he was back.

I'm disappointed in myself for that.

(With time and distance, I thought my husband would calm down a bit, but it seemed like a waste of time...)

Opal, who sighed at him, fell asleep as soon as he did.

I guess I still had the fatigue of the journey.

The next time I woke up, the sun was getting pretty high.

When I go into the guest room and ring the bell, Beth shows up like she doesn't like it and helps me change.

Then when I had breakfast and lunch in the guest room, I waited for Trevor's visit.

Trevor left for the Count's mansion yesterday after Opal left the carriage at the Duke's mansion.

If my father ever blames me, he says I should tell him why.

But my father probably knew everything and let him marry Hubert to enjoy how Opal would handle it.

Opal, finally realizing about it, also got angry but gave up on what he was going to do to his daughter's life.

Wishing Hubert's 'sweetness' could be improved with this, Opal revisits Omer's borrowings and past lending books he had brought home, and the managerial back books of the Duke's Territory.

I heard the carriage there, so I peered through the window where I could see the front door, and I saw the simple carriage of the Earl of Holloway house.

"Yes, that's good."

One shrugged Opal, holding himself in a large bag of books, went straight downstairs.

And in a bowl with Romit, who came out on the doorstep to deal with the visitors, Opal put the bag on the spot and waited for Trevor to come in.

"Hello, Trevor. Thanks for taking the time today."

"No, please don't worry. It's for the lady."

Listening to the conversation between Opal and Trevor, Romit gave a disgusting look.

As a butler, no matter what you think, you shouldn't put it on your face.

All in all, Opal asked Romit with a grin, though he was frightened that the mansion was not functioning as a Duke's house.

"Is your husband in the study?

"Thank you very much."

"So, he'll be guided by me, so can you ask him to prepare tea?

- Yes, sir.

When Romit turned his heel back, Trevor grabbed a subtle bag of opal and laughed as he came.

"That's more than I imagined."

"Isn't it? So be prepared for what's to come."

"So it's not a glimmer."

Trevor answered with some pleasure as Opal advised him as he headed to the study.

If Trevor hadn't been here, Opal probably wouldn't have stayed so strong either.

Even if Hubert doesn't listen to Opal, he'll just listen to Trevor, the Count's administrator.

Besides, we have clear evidence here.

With that in mind, Opal responded with Hubert's voice from inside as soon as he had the courage to knock on the study door.

But Opal, who took Trevor and stepped into the study, saw Hubert's face, which he hadn't seen in nearly a month, and realized that this discussion was not going to be easy.

Hubert looks like a chunk of grump.

"Oh, my God."

It was an opal that seemed unintentionally frightening, but I caught my mind when I heard Trevor whining a little behind me.

I don't want to show Trevor my pity.

"Sir, it's been a long time. We're back safely."

It was yesterday that he came back, but still Hubert said nothing to Opal for greeting him home.

Just grudgingly throwing questions at Trevor.

"Who are you?

"He's Trevor Ritton. He's the administrator of Count Holloway, my father's territory."

"Administrator of the Earl of Holloway territory......? Why would someone like that be here?

Sure, Hubert was a duke, and Opal was ashamed of his lack of at least courtesy towards older people, although he was in a position to be allowed to behave as he is now.

Moreover, since Trevor's identity was found out, it has become even more like a look down.

Of course Hubert's attitude towards the servants of the Duke's mansion is generous and probably because Trevor is a person on the Opal side.

Still, it's too childish.

Opal managed to make him smile in the face of what he wanted to say back.

"Sir, may I sit down for a moment? We'll talk about it then."

"... okay"

Hubert admitted in such a way that he sat down on the reception couch.

Opal sat across from it, but Trevor remained standing beside him without lowering his hips.
