The Emperor’s Angel of Death

Chapter 787: Loyal to the past

The war was over, probably, but Yarek didn't find it easy.

Standing on the spire of Nest Capital, a place that once symbolized power, he fell deeply into the memories of the past.

"You are..."

In the cold corridor, the childish voice was filled with doubts, and then there was silence for a while.

"What are you doing?"

A big boy was kneeling on the corridor with a tile on the drain.

After hearing the sound, the older boy raised his head and saw a younger child standing next to him, looking down at him curiously.

He didn't know him, even though this child was wearing a simple black diagonally woven Chung Si Academy uniform like him, he thought this was a new kid.

"Then what do you think I am doing?"

The big boy asked concisely:

"What do you think I seem to be doing?"

The little boy was silent for a while, he was thin and tall, about 12 years old.

For some reason, the big boy on the ground felt that something terribly old and horrible was hidden in the boy's gaze.

"It looks like you are only brushing the tiles on this corridor with a single brush."

"Haha, should I praise your attention?"

The big boy smiled without a sense of humor. With his dirty hand, he took the brush and showed it to the child. It was a tool made of soft hair, originally used to brush the buttons and belts on the uniform.

"I think you can still find the answer yourself."

Then he took a small brush and dipped it in the biting cold water in the bowl beside him, and began to brush the floor again.

"If you don't mind, I have to wipe the other three sides of this yard."

The younger boy was silent for several minutes, but still did not leave.

The one who was wiping the tiles could feel a piercing pain at the back of his neck.

"What else do you want to ask?"

The child nodded.

"My name is Sebastian Yaryk."

"Okay, ease the self-introduction, my name is Lucas Van der."

"Lucas, why are you doing this?"

Lucas threw the brush into the bowl and knelt aside, rubbing his numb hand.

"I was too reckless. I ran to the weapon training ground and used live ammunition to shoot targets. As a result, I broke three targets. The deputy instructor was very upset."

"So is this punishment?"

"Yes, this is punishment."

"That's quite unlucky."

The self-proclaimed Yarek said thoughtfully.

"It's really unlucky, when you encounter this bad thing, and you are a bad person, wouldn't you ask something good?"

Arek went to the open corner of the cloister and looked out.

The cloister in this ancient missionary college is paved with mosaic tiles of the imperial double-headed eagle. The air is filled with the breath of rain, and the cold wind is whizzing down from the stone colonnade. The drains and drips on the building are counting. It has almost disappeared under the erosion of thousands of years.

Outside the academy's territory, stands Ignatius, the capital of the bishop's world, and the palace of the state church overlooks the western horizon. Its heavy towers are two kilometers high and plunge into the sky.

It is indeed a very cold place here.

Yarek arrived here by a transport ship from a frigate. As soon as he got off the transport plane, he felt that the local climate was bitterly cold.

The state religion of the Empire governed a star area in the galaxy according to the iron law of the state religion. He was told very early that it was a very glorious thing to be admitted to the Zhongsi Academy.

He was taught by his father to love the emperor, and the emperor would give him back, but when he was young, he did not feel that the emperor gave him any compensation.

After looking at him for a while, even if he turned his back, Arek could still feel the old and strong boy who was still mopping the floor staring at him.

"Do you have any questions now?"

Arrick asked with his back to him.

The punished boy immediately replied:

"There are some common questions, do you know how they died?"

"Who?"

"Your parents, they must be dead. If they were not the honor of death, then you would not be in this orphanage."

"This is Zhongsi Academy, not an orphanage."

"It's up to you. This empty building is a monastic academy. The parents of those who are sent to study here are servants who dedicated their lives to the emperor."

Yarek turned his head, looked at each other, and said:

"My mother died when I was born. My father was a colonel in the Imperial Guard. He died in a war against Greenskins last year."

The big boy didn't wipe the floor anymore, but stood up and walked to Yarek's side.

"Interesting."

"Interesting?"

"Heroic feats of imperial soldiers, but very common in the empire."

Arrick turned his head and stared at him.

The older boy felt a little frightened by the other's deep gaze.

"Lucas, why are you so interested? How did your parents die?"

Lucas took a step back and said with pride:

"My father is a noble general. He killed thousands of demons in Armageddon and died in battle. You must have heard of that glorious victory, haven't you?"

"I understand."

Neither of the two boys spoke anymore, and they were silent for a while, they stared at the stone double-headed eagle sculpture slanting across the outside.

"Oh, now we are considered friends."

The older child stretched out his hand, and Arrick hesitated for a moment, and shook his hand.

"Forget it, but maybe you have to go to work now..."

"Lucas! Are you fishing?"

A sound suddenly resounded through the corridor, and Lucas immediately knelt on the ground, took out the brush from the bowl, and brushed it desperately.

A tall figure in a robe walked slowly to them, and he stopped beside Lucas, looking down at him.

"You have to wipe every centimeter, every tile, every gap on the ground."

"Yes, deputy mentor."

College

The deputy instructor turned around and looked at Yarek.

"You are the preparation student Sebastian Yaryk."

There is no question in the other's tone.

"Come with me, boy."

Yarek followed the tall mentor and strolled on the tiles.

He looked back for a while, Lucas was raising his head, cutting his throat with his hands, sticking out his tongue, and coughing.

Yarek smiled, this is the first time he smiled this year.

The instructor's hall is a cylindrical room full of books, and countless bookshelves are stacked around each other, just like a mini nest.

The shelves are full of ancient books and data boards, and a strange spiral orbit goes up from the ground to the top. Arek is very curious about what this brass gear mechanism does.

He stood in the center of the room for four minutes, until the arrival of the great mentor.

The grand tutor is a strong man in his fifties-if he hasn't lost his legs, left arm and half of his face.

He is sitting in a brass wheelchair with a suspended position under the wheelchair, powered by three force field generators fixed inside the wheelchair.

Seeing Yarik~www.wuxiahere.com~ his mutilated body slowly turned around.

"Are you Sebastian Yaryk?"

His voice is hoarse, like an electronic synthesis.

"Yes, great tutor."

Arek replied in retrospect of his uncle's teaching.

"You are so lucky, boy."

The vocal cords strengthened by the grand teacher made a hoarse voice.

"Ignatius' Faithful Heir College is not accepted by everyone."

"I understand that it is my honour. Great tutor, they told me this when they planned to enroll me."

Then the grand tutor looked at a data board in the floating position, and used his humming artificial bone arm to input something on the data board.
