Joanna, Lexi's mother, picked her up from the game and headed home. She looked at her child and said, "How was the game."

Lexi said, "Child abuse."

Joanna sighed and replied, "Explain."

Lexi, "There are no words that can describe that match."

Joanna smiled and said, "Do you want to go home or to visit Michael?"

Lexi trembled and replied, "I am not sure what to do, but I want to be with him."

Joanna said, "Let's visit him tomorrow."

Lexi nodded and went directly to bed after handing her mother a recording of today's game.

Joanna thought, "What could have happened in today's match that bugged her so much?"

When the recording started Michael was not in the game, Joanna was interested in Dillan's future, but right now she skipped ahead and watched Michael's play.

Once she reached the point where Michael confessed, Joanna smiled and said, "Not bad kid. Now, show me what you're made of."

She saw Michael say something to his defender and make a three. Trash talk? Wait, why is he not smiling? This is a business expression.

Joanna watched Michael defend this time and grinned. No way, he had to be lucky. Joanna was impressed by Michael's effort on defense and kept watching the game. Now, Michael advanced the ball and took another three. However, she noticed the distance; it was an NBA three, which is three feet farther than a high school three.

Joanna was more impressed with Michael after his shot, but it was nothing abnormal for a top prospect. However, when did Michael become a top prospect for the league? She recalled he was a talented player, but he was never this good. She felt if Michael played more games and could prove these matches where not a fluke, he would be a top-five draft pick.

She timed his shot attempt: It was eight-tenths of a second, which is fast even for the NBA. More than the speed at which Michael took the shot, it was the lack of hesitation, which made Joanna's heart skip a beat. This is child abuse Lexi, but Michael is a real competitor, this is how the world of competition works.

Joanna sent the video and her thoughts to the Lakers. When they see this, Michael will be drafted when declares for the draft, at least if he does not get selected, they will sign him for summer league based on his potential.

Michael and Kathy arrived and home and played Mario Kart, a cartoon racing game. They bantered the night away until Kathy finally lost a match. Michael thought, "Even after years of practice, why can't I beat her?"

Michael looked at his sleep-deprived sister and carried her into bed. Michael looked at the night sky and sighed while thinking; I messed up today. I haven't broken up with Ashly properly, but I confessed to a different girl. I should deal with it tomorrow after school.

Michael called Ashly and asked for a meeting after school tomorrow. Michael felt it would be best to deal with things after class because Ashly cared for her public image.

Michael looked toward the sky and exhaled while thinking, "Lexi did not respond to my confession today, but that's ok. I am the one who confessed. She does not owe me a response after she said not to say it."

Lexi looked at Michael's name in her phone and wrote a text before closing her phone. While it was never sent, it said, "Thank you, foolish boy."

Michael woke up early and started reading his medical report. After injuring his hand, Michael entered medical school, but before graduating, he entered this time leap.
