Chapter 8: Pretty figure reflected in the mirror
Why is Lili here… Is this not reality after all?
As I became even more confused and began to cry, Lili hugged me in a panic.
“Is there an intruder? Did someone do something to you?”
“I… I…”
“It’s okay now, please calm down, Ojo-sama. Lili is here by your side.”
Interpreting my cries as a distress signal, Lili instructed the guards to search the room. I wanted to tell her it was nothing, but I couldn’t find the words. I could only cry like a child.
Lili peered into my face, trying to calm me down, and looked at me with a gentle expression. Then, she gently wrapped her hands around mine.
“Oh my, your little hands are so cold… You must have been so frightened, poor thing.”
“…Eh?”
“Your little hands.”
It was only then that I looked at my own hands. They didn’t look like those of a 17-year-old woman at all.
They were small, almost childlike, small enough to fit easily in Lili’s hands.
“…!”
As soon as I realized it, I rolled out of bed and rushed to the mirror in my room. The maids’ lamps illuminated my reflection, and I saw myself looking like a child.
“This is…”
I’m just a child.
When people get really confused, their vocabulary seems to disappear in an instant. I stared at myself in the mirror in shock, muttering “I’m a child, just a child…” over and over.
“Ojo-sama, what happened all of a sudden?”
Lili rushed over and supported me. That’s when the difference in our sizes became apparent.
“Lili… how old am I now?”
“What do you mean?”
“How old am I?”
Surprised by my sudden question, Lili answered.
“Didn’t Ojo-sama just turn five recently?”
After that, I explained to Lili that I had a bad dream and sent the maids and guards away. I wanted to sleep again, so I asked her to leave me alone.
In the quiet room once again, I sat on the bed. I hadn’t realized it, but the surroundings had become bright, and the sunlight was shining through the window.
“I feel like I haven’t just regressed into a child, but I’ve become a child for real.”
As time passed, my mind began to clear, and I regained some sense of normalcy. However, I was still confused.
“This seems like it’s real, even though it’s hard to believe.”
Standing in front of the mirror, I looked like a child from head to toe. I was dressed in a light pink negligee, and my hair, a source of pride that reached my waist, was a fine and silky amber color.
My large, round eyes were framed by long, curled eyelashes. My skin was pure white and had a translucent quality, and touching it felt soft and pleasant.
“Ugh, I can’t believe I was perfect even from such a young age.”
I turned around in front of the mirror and showed off. I couldn’t remember anything from when I was five years old, but it seemed that I had always been beautiful.
“But now is not the time to be saying such things, Aliseteen.”
I needed to organize this strange phenomenon where my body was five years old but my mind was sixteen.
With that thought, I looked at the mirror one more time.
“Oh my, but I’m still so cute.”
