The Forsakens

Chapter 14 - Mana

When Sakar has reached to the front of the dorm, he saw the three hoodlums again. He understood why they came back. So he decided to use the back door. They can't enter the dorm. The security guard, the dorm has, amazing fighting prowess. They are afraid of his wrath.

After Sakar sneaked into his own room via the back door, he saw Kepyun who is doing exercise and spoke.

Sakar: "I accept."

Kepyun: "You accept what?"

Sakar: "To form a party."

Kepyun: "Ohh, very good. We just need one more person."

Sakar: "I have someone on my mind."

Kepyun: "Who?"

Sakar: "Olga."

Kepyun: "Ohh, that so-called pretty girl. She would not accept."

Sakar: "She is not so-called pretty, she is pretty. Are you out of your mind?"

Kepyun: "Nah, she isn't."

Sakar decided to not delve into that topic.

Sakar: "There are shaman courses which one needs to do quests too."

Sakar heard the conversation with Olga and Mr. Yuri. So he knew she needed a party.

Kepyun: "She is probably invited by everybody."

Sakar: "I will at least try."

Kepyun: "OK."

Sakar went to his bed and sat. Closed his eyes and begin to imagine a water ball. He thought about a time when he would need water. When he opened his eyes, there was only a droplet of water in his hands. In his mind, he compared this water droplet to the ball of fire which was way bigger. He also remembered how wonderful legs Olga has.

He tried the same things for wind and earth too. And he realized the biggest one was wind between the three elements while the smallest one was water. The elemental power order was like fire>wind>Olga's magnificent legs>earth>water for him.

He tried the same thing for fire as well. When he did it, Kepyun saw the fireball and got surprised.

Kepyun: "Oh my God, you managed to create a fireball."

Sakar: "Thanks for the knowledge."

Kepyun: "Come on, dude. I always thought that you were a useless idiot. Yesterday when I have witnessed your thief skills, I thought that weak things have their own ways to survive. And one day later, you are able to cast a fireball."

Sakar: "You are the useless idiot, muscle brain."

Kepyun: "Thanks for the compliment. I wish my brain was full of muscle but it is not... So how did you cast it?"

Sakar: "I am handsome after all, even magic wants to be embraced by me."

Kepyun: "You went to see so many spirits and all of them refused you."

Sakar: "They have a problem with their understanding of beauty."

Kepyun: "OK, I give up. I don't care about how you learned anymore..."

Kepyun returned to his exercise and Sakar started to read his magazines. Night has passed.

Next day.

Sakar woke up. He checked the outside if hoodlums were still waiting, realized they were gone. So he went to school. In the classroom, Olga was sitting in her seat. Sakar waved and spoke.

Sakar: "Hey, legs."

Olga made a "what the f*ck are you speaking about" face and asked.

Olga: "Who is 'legs'?"

Sakar realized his mistake and said.

Sakar: "Hey, Olga; how are you?"

Olga: "Did you just call me 'legs'?"

Sakar: "I was speaking to myself. Come on forget about it. Where is the teacher?"

Olga sighed and decided not to pursue the matter.

Olga: "I am also waiting for Mr. Hakki to come."

Sakar: "OK."

Fifteen minutes later Mr. Hakki came to the classroom. Olga stood up. Sakar was sitting. Mr. Hakki used magic to force Sakar to stand up. Sakar spoke.

Sakar: "You are late, teacher."

Mr. Hakki: "I am not late, you guys came early."

Olga made a gesture to Sakar, meaning 'stop'. Sakar did not argue.

Mr. Hakki dispelled the magic which forced Sakar to stand up.

Mr. Hakki: "Today, I will teach about gathering mana."

Mr. Hakki took the chalk and wrote on the blackboard.

"Method one: Every living thing gathers mana automatically."

"Method two: There are a few non-living things which also gather mana automatically."

"Method three: If you have got an affinity to any element, that element would fuel your mana."

"Method four: Using manastones."

"Method five: Meditation."

"Method six: Drinking blood."

"Method seven: Stealing mana."

Mr. Hakki: "Not all of these methods are fit for mages. Mages are not the only class that uses mana. I will teach about up to method five."

"Mana comes from the stars with their light. So during the night, everyone automatically collects it without even realizing it. It would speed up if you are outside because light would directly shine on you. But even if you are in a closed zone, you still get mana. This is method one."

"This very same thing works for manastones and some equipment which is called by most alive equipment. I don't know much about alive equipment. I just have seen them but the ability to make them has been lost. Nobody knows how to produce one. It is possible to drain the mana collected by a living equipment just like you drain from a manastone."

"If you have an affinity to an element, such as Sakar has to fire; that element would fuel your mana. As an example, if I use fire against Sakar, even though it would damage him, his mana gets filled a little."

"Mages can drain magic from a manastone to fill their mana."

"Meditation is the most important one. Because it also increases capacity. Mages should meditate a lot to get a bigger magic capacity."

"You should think about absorbing mana from your surroundings while meditating. When you master that also add expanding yourself to your surroundings. The first one will fill mana while the second one will increase your capacity."

Mr. Hakki took a breath and asked.

Mr. Hakki: "Olga, do you use any kind of imagination when you use powers of the wind spirit?"

Olga: "No, it is like commanding it. I don't need to visualize it. I just need to command."

Mr. Hakki: "Don't have the same approach toward magic. You have to visualize. When shamans use their power, it is actually spirits who do the trick. For magic, you have to do it yourself."
