The Forsakens

Chapter 32 - Prison

When Sakar woke up, he was behind bars in a prison cell. That reminded him about how he came here, the place called Asia. He had a good life back at his home in the New World.

People in Asia called his homeland the New World but people already lived there before didn't call it the New World. They didn't think about the lands beyond the ocean. So they never thought to name their continent. It was just called the world. Somehow, after a person from Asia discovered that place, its name turned to the New World.

Sakar's life back was hard. He had to work for the bread he ate, water he drank but at least he had peace of mind in the village. Helen, his foster mother taught him many things such as how to set traps, how to sow the lands, how to handle animals... He loved his foster mother. This was one of the biggest regrets he had. He never called her 'mother'. He always called her 'Helen'. He had a good goal though, to make her feel young.

Helen was a middle-aged woman who was unable to bear a child. Her husband Osman and she got into an accident and she lost both his husband and her w.o.m.b when she was still young. She was taking care of all the children in the village. This was good for the villagers because they were able to work with a peace of mind. Other kids would return their homes but Sakar wouldn't since he had no family.

-Sakar's Thoughts-

Now that I think about it, the oldest memory of mine was the dark night sky and my search for something in it. I really remember that I looked for something but couldn't find. The blue shining lake in the middle of that forest, I have never seen it for a second time. Helen used to tell me: 'hide your origin'. They told me that I was the only person that managed to get out of that forest. I also didn't enter that forest for a second time. I don't want to enter that place anyway, it is full of night cats. Even during the daytime, the sunlight couldn't enter the forest properly because of gigantic trees. People call it the Unpassable Forest for a reason. I heard that even the mages couldn't conquer it.

These bars really look like the bars on the ship they carried me. This feeling really is not good. But, I somehow remember the reason I am here. The last thing I remember before I fainted was that we attacked an officer. I wonder how are the others?

I missed Olga's legs.

-Calvin's Thoughts-

Yesterday, there was this n.a.k.e.d girl dropped from the sky, today there is this incident. What is happening to this city? I wonder what happened to this n.a.k.e.d lady. I hope nothing bad happened to her. She was just my type though. I wish to see her again. Who knows, maybe she drops from the sky again.

Oh, there is a sound coming from below. Did he wake up?

---

Calvin: "Did you finally wake up?"

Sakar: "I can't see you, who are you?"

Calvin: "I am coming."

Footsteps of Calvin was echoing in this desolate prison. There weren't many criminals in this city. Old Marmara can be considered a very safe environment. All their problem was their enemy; Kingdom of Zagriba. Apart from Zagriba and wild-life, there was no danger to this city.

Within fifteen steps Calvin reached the metal bars of Sakar's cell.

Calvin's anger was visible on his face.

Calvin: "Why did you go that far? The city got damaged because of you! I just came to stop your quarrel!"

Sakar: "We weren't having a quarrel. It was a mock battle. Practicing."

Calvin: "What kind of mock battle damages the surroundings that much!"

Sakar: "I am not sure. I don't remember everything. I found myself in S.e.xylegland after you glued stones to me."

Calvin with a curious look said: "S.e.xylegland?"

Sakar with a passionate tone: "It is my own domain, where I am the ruler and supervisor of the pairs of s.e.xy legs!"

Calvin was disappointed. How can a person this strong can have mental problems...

He remembered what the president of Chicken's Head academy told him. The president arrived after everything resolved. She warned them about how that student has mental problems and how he is a problem child. Calvin's angry look changed into a pitying look.

Calvin: "Poor child. I heard that you have a good potential from the president of your school. Too bad..."

Sakar: "What is too bad?"

Calvin: "Nevermind. Thank the spirit grasses on you. They were enough to compensate for the damage caused. Where did you find that much anyway?"

Spirit grass wasn't common. With ten of them, you could buy a house. Shamans brew tea with them so they can communicate with their contacted spirits from anywhere. Also, they are thought to give people energy. Mostly old men with s.e.x.u.a.l problems are after them.

Sakar: "Trade secret!"

Calvin: "Anyway, I got to go. My shift is almost over. Farewell."

Sakar: "What? When will I be released?"

Calvin: "Released? I don't know."

Sakar: "Can you ask?"

Calvin: "They are conducting your trial right now."

Other footsteps were heard.

Calvin: "It seems the next guard is coming."

Sakar: "Would he know?"

Calvin: "Why are you asking so many questions! How would I know?"

Sakar whispered: "Pff! Grumpy!"

Calvin: "What did you say?"

Sakar: "I didn't say anything."

The owners of the footsteps arrived.
