The God System

Chapter 2 - Catherine

He fell in love with her because of how alike the two were. She was also a thrill-seeker, just like him, except for a different reason.

He felt like deep down somewhere inside of her, she just wanted to live a normal and peaceful life, but she knew she couldn't do that, so she went extreme sports in order to live out her life as best she could for as long as possible.

She was diagnosed with terminal cancer when she was fifteen years old and was expected to pass away within the year. As she was from a well off family, they let her do whatever she wanted for the last few years she had left on this Earth.

So she decided to do everything any normal person was unable to do. She decided to live her life with joy for her remaining years.

When she was on one of her escapades she met Abel. They were both on a helicopter that was taking them to the bottom of Nanga Parbat, where they were going to free climb Rupal Face.

After the thrilling climb, where Abel saved her life by catching her when she slipped, nearly falling to her death, the two got to know each other better, and they began to go on more thrilling adventures together.

After this, they were nearly inseparable, and they traveled the world together searching for adventures, and thrill-seeking moments.

But that quickly came to an end, with Catherine lying in a hospital bed and Abel watching over her.

They were inside the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, one of the best hospitals for treating cancer in the world.

A nurse knocked on the door waking Abel from his stupor, as he was stuck staring at Catherine's breathtaking face. As if sculpted by a famous artesian, it was flawless. Her silky black hair was no more, but Abel felt that it did not diminish her beauty.

She was once very fit and had a plump c.h.e.s.t, and b.u.t.t, but now she was nearly skin and bones. The doctors made her go through countless procedures in order to try and cure her, but none of them worked, and she slowly got worse and worse.

Abel had never cried as much as he had in these past two months, as he felt like he was losing a part of himself.

He looked up at the nurse, and she looked at his handsome face, and could only sigh, as she saw the heartbreak in his eyes. "The doctor would like to see you"

Abel nodded and walked out as he went to see the doctor.

Walking into the doctor's office he sat down as the doctor offered him some tea.

Abel declined the offer, with a little impatience, as he just wanted to go back an be with Catherine. The doctor normally calls him out every so often, to tell him the progress, and how Catherine is doing, but Abel knew all this was just fake.

They both knew that Catherine would pass, all this was just to try and ease his burden.

"We have some bad news," the doctor said slowly studying Abel's facial expressions.
