Chapter 35 - In a Hurry

Abel grabbed Mary's hand as he dragged her along while running to go get the horse.

"Abel! Wait up! Why are you in such a hurry?" Mary was confused because just yesterday he was content with how slow they were moving.

"I will tell you on the way! We need to hurry back to Delphi!" Abel yelled back to her as they weaved their way through the crowds towards the hotel to get their horse.

Abel grabbed the horse and then quickly hopped on and pulled Mary up before he began to ride towards the exit. A few pedestrians cursed at him as he passed them for his lack of manners, but soon forgot about it and went about their day.

They quickly exited the city, although they were stopped and questioned by the guards due to the hurry they looked to be in, as they wanted to make sure that the two were not criminals. Abel complained at this as he thought 'We should have just walked out if we knew this would happen!'

The guards eventually released them, and the two went on their way.

"Abel! Why are we in a hurry!" Mary asked as the horse sprinted towards Delphi, the grassland passing beside them.

"Adventurers have entered my dungeon! And the Guild has sent others to investigate it, so I need to return as soon as possible so I can defend it! I don't think It will be able to defend itself, with the defensive capabilities it currently possesses." Abel said as the wind whipped against his face.

Mary nodded as she understood the importance of the situation and she said to him "I found information on that crystal ball you wanted"

Abel was surprised, because of how fast she found some and was not expecting anything, as he had interrupted her research time so he could drag her back to Delphi.

He raised an eyebrow and asked, "What is that thing?"

|It's a giant marble!| Genesis giggled

"Sadly it isn't that simple, I'm not one hundred percent sure, but I think it is a soul crystal, and that white fog we see inside is someone else's soul that was trapped there," Mary said with certainty, as her illusion had almost the same information as what she read in the library.

"They are not contraband or anything, because some magicians like to use them in order to store Monster Souls or Demon Souls, but it is illegal to store souls of creatures of the Virtuous standing, like dwarves, humans, beastkin, elves, etc." Mary continued.

Abel nodded and motioned Mary to stop talking and pointed as he saw an adventurer group chatting and walking as they headed towards Delphi. Abel slowed down as he closed on them, and they turned as they heard him coming.

"How goes it?" One of them asked with a smile out of courtesy.

"It's good, and the weather is nice" Abel replied in exchange.

"Indeed it is! It would be a great day for an adventure!" he laughed as he replied his beard jumping up and down.

"Speaking of! Aren't you on one right now? Aren't you heading to the Forest of Horrors for the quest in the adventurer's guild?" Abel asked curiously

"Oh, you are doing that quest as well! What are the odds, such a coincidence! Let us compete then, in good fun! Let the best team get the rewards!" He laughed while his party members wryly smiled.

"Indeed! I will meet you there then!" Abel replied with a laugh as he picked up his pace once more and the horse began to run ahead.

The group continued to talk as they walked towards Delphi not in a rush like Abel was.

This was the fifth group they passed, and they were all headed in the same direction with the same destination in mind. The Forest of Horrors.

Abel sighed as he kicked the horse's sides urging it to go faster as he was worried about what might happen in his absence.

Although Delphi was only roughly fifty miles from Zalfari, the time it took was still quite a while, and a lot could happen in that span of time that Abel did not want to let happen.

His domain heart could be destroyed, the village razed to the ground, his dungeon conquered, there were endless possibilities and Abel was unprepared.

"Okay, you can continue," Abel said to Mary, as she had not finished informing him about the Soul Crystal.

"The Soul Crystal that Avery had seemed to be one that has someone of good nature trapped inside, which is illegal. I have no idea why he would leave it on display for outsiders to see, as he could get arrested for that"

"What about their purpose and where they come from?" Abel asked.

"Well as I previously said, they are used to trap souls, and those souls could then be used for magic rituals and other things, which I am not sure of because I did not get to do enough research. As to where they come from? I have no idea because there was nothing I found yet that stated that, but If I had to make a guess I would assume it's from some sort of monster" Mary said while she wore a thinking face.

"Should we report our findings to the city?" Abel pondered.

"I would suggest against it, because Avery is most likely an Evil Magician, and they hold grudges, not to mention that the city may be unable to do anything that is why he leaves his crystal lying about in the open. We have no idea how powerful he is, so its best just to leave him alone and walk on the other side of the street when we see him" Mary suggested.

Abel nodded and said "Let's leave him be then. But when we are stronger I am going to teach him a lesson" Mary smiled at this and nodded.

Delphi began to appear in the distance and Abel let out a slight sigh of relief, seeing as how things seemed to be in working order still from this far. Adventurers wouldn't trash the place, right?
