The Imposter Princess

Chapter 16 - A New Home

Days passed. Ana never came to find Yin XinYi about the dress. If she had, Yin XinYi would have just called the police. Of course, she would also record the encounter and sell it to a large range of media outlets. It was the simplest and safest option.

There was also the possibility that Ana Williams may have used her influence to intercept the dress but Yin XinYi immediately debunked it.

Beacon was too powerful for such tyranny.

Mr. Allen had emailed her a while ago informing her that her apartment was ready. Yin XinYi set up an appointment with him for an apartment tour. It was scheduled for noon today.

Yin XinYi was rather excited. It marked the end of Yin XinYi, the adopted daughter of Yin Hai, and the start of Yin XinYi, an independent woman.

Once again, XinYi utilized the chauffeur service. She had them drive her to her apartment complex and wait for her.

Standing next to the doorway of the apartment complex was Mr. Allen. When he saw Yin XinYi walk down the pathway towards him, he went to meet her halfway.

"Miss Madison!" He beamed with a smile.

"Mr. Allen," she nodded in return.

The two walked alongside each other towards the building. When they got close, the doorman opened the glass doors to let them into the building.

"That's the full time doorman, Mr. Dell," introduced Mr. Allen gesturing to the middle-aged man dressed in a black uniform.

Giving a large smile, Mr. Dell gave a slight bow as he said "P.l.e.a.s.u.r.e to meet you miss-" he paused as to inquire her name.

"Madison. It's a p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e to meet you too, Mr. Dell," politely replied Yin XinYi to the man.

"Miss Madison. Of course. May we meet again, Miss," he said before looking at Mr. Allen, "It's good to have you back Mr. Allen."

"The p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e is all mine, Mr. Dell. If you'll excuse us," Mr. Allen turned to Yin XinYi and guided her along to the receptionist desk.

"This young lady right here is our daytime receptionist. This is Ms. Thorne. I'll explain the procedures of the building on visitors so we don't bother her," he said as he gestured to the middle age woman to Yin XinYi.

Ms. Thorne was attending to people at the time, therefore, she simply nodded at the two before returning to her conversation.

Mr. Allen bought Yin XinYi to the elevator. He pressed the up key and not long after, an elevator was open and empty. The two walked into the elevator. Thankfully for Yin XinYi, no elevator music played.

"Ms. Thorne is our daytime receptionist. We have a nighttime receptionist too, that's Mr. Kosher. No doorman after 10 pm though. Mr. Dell comes at 8 am in the morning. We have a full security team and cameras everywhere, of course, not in your home, but in the hallways. Our building prides itself on the privacy and security it provides. No one is allowed to your home unless it's specified by you. There is a list of names you can give to the receptionist that allows access for them to use the elevator. However, if it's a delivery or someone not on your list, we'll have the receptionist call you up," he explained while pressing the 16th floor.

"Our building only houses 10 apartments and you happen to have the best home in the apartment. Our building is 27 stories tall excluding the bas.e.m.e.nt levels. Each apartment spans at least one full floor. Floors B1 and B2 is our underground parking garage. Floor 1 or ground level is our receptionist and security office. Floors 2 and 3 are our gym, spa and pool respectively. Floor 4 to 8 is the one level apartments. Floor 9 to 13 are the two level apartments, floors 14 and 15 are the three level apartments while your floor, floor 16 is a five level apartment. Naturally, you have your own private elevator within your home which only goes from the first story of your home to the topmost floor," he informed Yin XinYi.

She gave a curt nod to his explanation and the two continued the elevator ride in silence. Although XinYi wasn't bothered by the silence, Mr. Allen was.

Uncomfortable by the silence, he wondered if he said something wrong. Perhaps he talked too much? The silence was suffocating for him. He feared that he had made her uncomfortable. Perhaps, he should shorten his explanations? He was very willing to adjust. After all, he prided himself on his customer satisfaction.

Yin XinYi had no idea what was going through his head. Instead, she was scolding herself on her poor performance. Yin XinYi found that Mr. Allen's spew of information was rather helpful. Although she gave a nod as acknowledgement, Yin XinYi felt that it was too rude. She wanted to thank him but it was too late. The silence had already settled in.

The elevator opened with a ding. It granted access to a small area with a single black door. The two walked out, towards the black door. On the silver handle of the door, was a scanner in the place of what would have been a lock.

"Here is your door. There are two methods of opening the door. Either you have this card key-" he said as he flashed an orange card to Yin XinYi, "-or use your fingerprint. In both methods, a passcode is required or else the door won't open."

Mr. Allen used scanned the card on the scanner. Then he flipped up the scanner to show a number pad. "Currently, the password is 0000. It's the default. You can set your fingerprint later and change the passcode."

His fingers flew across the keyboard as he typed in the passcode. Then he flipped down the scanner and opened the door. It opened with a click.

Before he went in, he gestured in the hallway-like area where the elevator was. "There are a few cameras around here. The only blind spot is your doorway. No one will see the procedure of opening the lock. Rest assured, you are safe."

He invited her into the penthouse. The interior was very minimalistic and modern. There was sparse color, the primary ones were black and white. Some metallic colors such as gold, silver, and copper accented it. The brightest colors were shades of blue and purple. Although the theme was rather dark, large windows let in tons of light, brightening up the room.

Mr. Allen led her around the entire penthouse, all five floors. On the fifth floor was the terrance which allowed a beautiful view of the city.

At the end of the tour, Mr. Allen informed her that she could move in whenever. He also informed her of the services and fees that the building offered.

"Miss Madison, our building has a monthly fee, which you are autopaying but our building also offers cleaning services." The building also had a health faculties but Mr. Allen rejected his thought of mentioning it. Her penthouse apartment already had a private gym and pool.

Yin XinYi thought about his offer. She was going to be busy woman and simply can not clean her entire penthouse. "I'll take it," she decided.

Mr. Allen smiled, "Alright. It'll be automatically charged to your card. Yearly or monthly fees?"

"Yearly," replied Yin XinYi.

He clapped his hands together and asked her, "The cleaning service can come everyday, every other day, every week, every other week or every month. Which one would you like? Times are from 6 am to 8 pm. Please pick an hour."

"Weekly at 3 to 4 pm," replied Yin XinYi.

He nodded and asked her when she was going to move in. Yin XinYi informed him that she was going to move in today. He wasn't fl.u.s.tered at the her plans to move in immediately since all preparations were made. She could even move in now if she wished so.
