The King Meets His Avatar

Chapter 4 - Wily Little Cold Hands.

Ye Qiu had been waiting in the centre of the Beginner's Village ever since the System said that the Game was under maintenance.

He was sitting outside the village's bread shop chewing on a loaf of bread while waiting for those 10 mins to get over soon. Ever since he used the Hua Pill, he had been feeling more like a human. He grew tired and also felt hungry. And he also realised that he could use the food bought from the NPC to restore some of his HP but it was not enough. The Bleed effect buff was still effective. His HP was still low, a mere 18%.

The food and drinks he had bought from the coins he got from selling his drops had helped him to retain his HP at 18%.

When he was using One Autumn Leaf, he had relied on his skills with the computer to be the King of Glory. But now, thought he maybe the Glory Textbook, he had to move his own body. And he was actually reluctant to move around as he was already used to a sedentary lifestyle when he was back in his other world. [ He had already accepted the fact that he was stuck in the Glory World.]

And as he wait for a priest to debuff his Bleed effect, he started going through the classes offered in Glory. He was proficient in all the classes. But his One Autumn Leaf was a Battle Mage. He was comfortable using the mage the most. His mind hovered over the battle mage for some time but he decided to try another class at the end.

He did not have much equipments in his inventory. His inventory was in the form of a spatial bag that was permanently tied to his waist the moment he arrived to this world. The multiplier buff from the Yin Yang Pill had helped him to level up to level 50 but it came at a cost. The mobs he had killed while farming for XP were all low-levelled and so they didn't give good drops. Nor did he chance upon other hidden bosses after the uneventful incident with the Egg- Plant boss. And so now he was left as a high level player in the game with some hundred silver coins, low-levelled equipments, a half-ass dagger and all his skills points being locked away. He was no different than a level 10 player right now. And knowing this fact he shed silent tears in his heart.

He wanted to be One Autumn Leaf at least if he had to be reincarnated or transmigrated to another world. He refused to believe that he died. He still hoped that his body was intact back in China. And he insisted that what was happening right now must be in some parallel universe and that he would surely find a way back home.

Then, finally the System made an announcement.

" Glory has been updated successfully!"

And shortly, afterwards players started popping up in various places in the village.

And since it was the Beginner's village, most of the players online were either newbies or some ass-hats who remained lingering to bully the lowbies with their power.

Ye Qiu looked around and finally saw a priest that was level 50. The icon above his head indicated that his name was Little Cold Hands. Since his HP wasn't looking too good, he approached Little Cold Hands.

"Brother, can you help me out?"

Little Cold Hands turned towards him and uninterestedly said, " If you're looking for a dungeon team member, I'm not interested. Go and look for some body else."

"Brother, I just need you to debuff the Bleed effect on me. I'm willing to give you 20 silver coins."

Little Cold Hands gave Ye Qiu a once over and raised his hand. Showing five of his fingers.

"Brother wants 50 silver? I'm willing to give if you can debuff the effect."

"No, not 50 silver. But, 5000 silver. If you can't pay up, you can beat it."

Ye Qiu had never met such a swindler. It was just a debuff skill. He just had to cast a spell and that was it. But Ye Qiu was not someone to be underestimated either. He was good at haggling. 10 years of Glory did not go in vain.

After negotiating with Little Cold Hands, he finally agreed to debuff Ye Qiu for 80 silver along with some common equipments that he wanted to get rid off.

Little Cold Hands murmured some incantations and pointed his staff at Ye Qiu and finally removed the Bleed buff.

" Shit, Lord Grain! Why is your health bar so small. You're a level 50, aren't you? Are you a noob? Use your skill points!"

Ye Qiu grimaced when he heard this. He knew his health bar was low. He knew he had skill points but it was locked away by the System. How does he explain this to this priest/cleric? He could just brushed it off with an off-handed answer.

"I'm saving up for other things."

He bid farewell to this wily priest and went to farm XP again. He wanted to level up fast and reach the Heavenly Domain. He had to find Su Mucheng. He wanted to know if she was still in the game. He had to ask her about what happened to him and to his body.

THE SYSTEM: "Player, receive your next mission from the NPC near the Village gate."

He ran up to the NPC near the gate which turned out to be a sentry man. The mission issued by the NPC was " Choose a Class and Challenge 10 Players above the level 60 and defeat them consecutively without any failure."

Choose a class? Even now he was unsure of which class to opt for.

Challenge 10 players? Easy for the NPC to say when the NPC does not feel any pain!
