The Last Abyssal, Tyrannical Pet

Chapter 39 - Death’s Row

Hades could no longer fly, and he was surrounded by dozens of enemies with strength on par or higher than his own, with experience being his only advantage.

The flying enemies were few, but were sufficient to suppress him in the air, he had no choice but to stay on the ground.

The security as well were vigilant, they had seen how this skull clad monster had slaughtered a dozen contract beasts whilst on the beams.

They naturally sent their slave beasts before them.

"You think mere puppets can harm me?!" He roared in defiance. He had no intention of letting himself be slaughtered by these humans.

He side stepped a rhino beast's charge, running his claws along it's side as he passed, before jumping on the back of a large panther. Like the bird, he sunk his hind claws into its back and used it's body as a shield while he slashed at nearby beasts with his claws and tail.

Several beasts shed blood in an instant. Like a storm, he led the panther he was on into the crowd of humans. The panther died without suspense and Hades entered into the crowd of humans to their heart stopping horror.

The humans instantly scattered in fear, and no one dared attack lest they harm one of their own. Hades was free to chase and slaughter the helpless humans for a time.

He pounced on one, cutting his throat open while his tail extended to grab a human's ankle, making him trip in his escape. Hades ignored him as he could hardly get up due to his trembling knees, he'd rather attack those who could still resist. And attack he did.

He tore the throat of another pounced human, after which one of the beasts collapsed on its own. It's life was probably linked to the humans, yet the beasts he killed felled no humans. This was the power of the slave contract he feared. He knew there humans were the most important to kill at this point.

By now the humans realized that they would only get killed like this, they sent their beasts at him without regard for their comrades lives.

The one he tripped before was trampled by a bear and another was pierced by the horn of a rhino. Hades was once again in the midst of beasts.

This time the beasts focused on preventing his approach to the humans while using near suicidal attacks, throwing their bodies at him without regard. He couldn't avoid all of them and suffered a wound to his foreleg.

It wasn't that deep due to his quick reaction but it stirred his wrath nonetheless. He constantly backed away, but that resulted in multiple fireballs and wind blades flying at him.

He decisively charged under the legs of a large bear, which suffered the blows in his stead. He jumped on a leap its and clamped on its throat with his fangs and tore it off while he cut the wings of a swooping bird with his claws and stabbed the ankle of a monkey with his tail.

His fierceness provoked different reactions from the humans. They saw their pets die one by one and couldn't help but get teary eyed. Several other humans had already tried to flee with their beasts, they did not wish to risk their lives for this low wage job, they were stopped by one of the other humans though. Others kept fighting because they thought the monster would go down eventually with their numbers.

Their thoughts were not unfounded, with humans getting involved, the number of attacks doubled, and the humans were more skilled than the beasts, representing an even greater danger. He was soon nicked on the back by a spear. And scratched on the cheek.

The only reason he wasn't dead yet was his small size lowered his target area. This might've been forgotten but he was only the size of a small cat. on the down side, a single good strike could tear his body in halves.

Their lack of coordination came into play again, as they would often hit beasts of their own side or bump into each other, lessening the pressure a bit.

He ran amidst their legs, using their instinctive aversion to aiming at each other to evade most of the attacks, while his tail swept around, tripping humans and slitting ankles to lower their mobility. He had just slashed another humans waist when he was hit with the staff of a pole arm sending him toward the wall. By now the blood splashing in his eyes had lowered his vision and accuracy. He could no longer accurately aim at lethal areas reliably, and his attacks were getting blocked.

He grit his teeth and rolled on the ground to limit the damage before using he momentum to jump on the wall and toward a flying beast.

He hooked on its neck that was charging a fireball, lowering the aim and having it land among the humans who scattered in fear of the fire. He then rode on the back of the bird with one claw around its throat to forcefully maneuver it. He first flew at the remaining 3 flying beasts. He cut one's throat with his claw and stabbed another one with his tail lodging inside it, and swung its body at the last beast. This caused both to fall and the last flying beast, aside from the one he was riding, to leave the air.

Then the bird he was on was pelted with wind, flame, and acid, sending both of them back to the ground, where he jumped on the head of a human, and slit his throat in an instant. But a fireball directly hit him and he was sent flying a distance away, giving the remaining humans time to regroup.

He had just landed when a wolf bit his hind leg. He quickly tore its throat with his tail, but then a monkey stepped forward and grabbed it like it was catching a snake. The struggling tail left several deep cuts on the monkey, but it did not let go, stubbornly holding his tail at the orders of its master.

As his tail was caught a bull had already kicked him in the c.h.e.s.t. He landed on the ground, panting heavily.

He was on deaths row, with over a dozen humans and 6 contract beasts still alive. He didn't even know if they had reinforcements.

It was a mistake to wander recklessly. Now he was on the verge of death. He had to apologize to the girl who would die with him, and the other girl who had depended on him.

He was surrounded, with no hope of escape. But as a ruthless beast of the Abyss, he would not let a few failing organs stop him from taking the rest of his enemies with him.

With fierce determination, he rose again, muscles bulging, making him seem a size larger. His eyes turned red as the tyrant's aura flared in defiance of his fate.

The remaining foes raised their arms warily, pupils dilating slowly at the sight of the red aura being mixed with gold, and his left eye turning flashing with a blinding white color...
