The Last Abyssal, Tyrannical Pet

Chen Ling let out a breath of nervous air as she walked into the bathroom. She didn't want anyone else seeing this. She looked at the scroll in her hand.

Unlike the 8 paths that Hades held, this one had an introduction.

It definitely sounded strong, and really arrogant. To say you could control fate with this technique, is this supposed to make you a god?

Even though Chen Ling, She was not stupid, and knew that if this was a fluke, it couldn't have a place in the Divine Hall, but if it was reas, she didn't remotely believe that something like this was just lying around the Divine Hall. Either way, it didn't come from the hall, so where did it come from?

Who was that lady? What was with the altar? Why did it appear to me? Was it something from the Divine Hall?

She read the sections of the Merciful Heaven technique. Per the name, it held 9 covenants:

The covenant of earth,

the covenant of metal,

the covenant of water,

the covenant of wood,

the covenant of fire,

the covenant of light,

the covenant of darkness,

the covenant of life,

and the covenant of death.

It consists of of the 5 principal elements, intertwining yin yang, the laws of light and darkness, and the cycle of samsara, life and death.

But the strangest part of this technique, was that there was no particular order to cultivate it, and your path could be varied widely depending on the order it's cultivated, increasing the difficulty exponentially.

Your level in this technique depends on how many covenants they have comprehended, and harmonized with each other. For example, one could literally start with life and death right off the bat, though extremely difficult, if one was talented enough.

It was recommended that one should start with the 5 elements, as they were the simplest to comprehend.

She coughed, and found a hint of blood on her palm, it was clear Xiaohei was in danger. She felt pings of pain all over her body through her soul link, and her skin split slightly in accordance to his wounds.

Chen Ling's intention was to increase her cultivation level so that Xiaohei could break through. Though she had only entered refining body not long ago, she had a good feeling about this.

But she had no idea how to start, there was no one to guide her after all. She could only look at the method with trembling hands. She couldn't help but tear up again.

When the tears fell, they inevitably fell upon the scroll, and to her shock, the scroll began to dissolve into dust on the spots where her tears fell.

Now she couldn't help but cry harder. Did her useless self end up ruining the cultivation method fate bestowed on her? She couldn't help but feel like drowning in her despair.

But miraculously, the dust, instead of scattering into the wind, was drawn into her body. She couldn't help but stand up in shock. What was happening?

Then the sunlight from a nearby window landed on her tears, which seemed to glow golden, before releasing a light that automatically drew her eyes.

She could feel the Merciful Heaven method circulate on its own, through essence pathways she couldn't remember having before! Then she remembered this path, it was the path that Xiaohei's blood cycled through upon their contract.

Her clever mind understood it instinctively. It seems that Xiaohei's powerful abyssal blood, that was the essence of a perfectly refined body, had refined her body for her, putting her in the peak of body refining after only a week of being in it!

Wasn't this absurd? Isn't it just spitting in the faces of those who put on years of effort to accomplish he same thing? But it wasn't. It was her destiny that brought her an encounter with Xiaohei. The destiny that brought the strongest soul link that refined her body. The destiny that trumps over all hard work and turns ordinary people into protagonists.

Now it was destiny that brought this Merciful Heaven 9 Covenants to her. She must've been some sort of goddess in her past life to get destiny like this. The balance was teetering off he edge, she needs to be nerfed!

But no matter how it happened, it belonged to her now. It was up to her to decide what she did with it.

It was now her d.e.s.i.r.e to help her best friend for 3 days survive an ordeal, that she suddenly comprehended the covenant of light! It embodies kindness, the will to embrace all, it shines upon all creatures and bestows life and warmth! This was the element that had the greatest affinity with her!

With the covenant of light cycling madly trough her essence pathways, Her body slowly recovered, she could feel her qi transform gradually, into a golden color, and begin to gather to form a soul bound armament! She was officially entering the qi refining realm!

Then through her soul link, she felt that a red qi was spurring her on, accelerating the process, and her qi in turn was transferring to Xiaohei, aiding his advancement as well.

Upon advancement she could feel a tyrannical power coursing through her essence pathways, but it met with the covenant of light energy, and was suppressed, then was devoured by her own qi.

Through this process she could now faintly feel her strength multiply, and a hint of the darkness covenant become clear to her.

It was obvious that Xiaohei had an affinity to darkness. Just look at him, there's no need to explain. Abyss, black fur, weak to sunlight.

But if this was the case, why are their souls compatible if their affinities were opposite? She couldn't help but wonder.

Is Xiaohei okay now, she wondered what he was doing...
