The Last Abyssal, Tyrannical Pet

Chapter 5 - Tearing Earth, Rending Heaven

Pluto has slept below the ocean for several millennia, and had long since grew accustomed to it. Suddenly being exposed to the surface, he was slightly disoriented, and had momentarily forgotten how to breathe. He was still a beast that originally walked the earth, so this did not last for long.

But the tyrant still didn't miss this chance. He flew toward the monarch's throat at speeds not far of that of lightning, and not wasting a second, sunk his claws deep within the tough flesh.

Pluto's defense was extremely formidable, the greatest in fact, of the Abyss, but the tyrannical strength of the razor sharp claws cut a several meter gash in his throat before their momentum stopped.

The tyrant flapped his wings once more, as it was dangerous to stay in one place. Sure enough, Pluto's claw, fell heavily on the place he was just at.

Pluto finally adapted to the land. But he knew this could no longer go on. Pluto knew he could never hit the tyrant, like a mosquito you can't catch, the tyrant was too fast, and Pluto's claws couldn't keep up.

Pluto deafeningly roared once more in unceasing fury, creating a shockwave that spanned several miles. The earth flattened, the skies cleared, and the tyrant was repeled by the suppressive force just like before.

They tyrant growled frustratingly. He was irritated to be forced back by the same movement twice, but it was not an easy feat to nullify the force of the roar. Then he was flabbergasted as he looked back to the monarch.

With the roar, Pluto also summoned a cloak of Abyssal fire, which wrapped itself around the monarch and settling on his fur. The pulsing flames now shrouding Pluto scorched the earth and burned the skies, with the ground seeming to melt at a visible pace.

"I will acknowledge your strength. I will no longer hold back." The flames then started to twist and form what appeared to be full body armor, covering every inch of his body. Tough, yet flexible, so even the joints were covered. The concentrated flames became far hotter than before, and even half a mile away the tyrant felled the tips of his fur being singed.

The tyrant's eyes gleamed. He knew that just being big wouldn't constitute the power to overpower the rest of the abyss, there were many of similar size in fact. It was this ability that allowed Pluto to rule the abyss.

The tyrant slowly approached, and felt his body burning before he even got to the range of Pluto's claws. Yet his eyes had not lost any confidence, for he too, had his trump cards.

The tyrant then spread his leathery wings to the fullest, extending a wingspan of at least a dozen meters, before flapping mysteriously. Wind began to gather in a vortex surrounding him. They seemed to move slow and fast at the same time, and somehow it looked like the single pair had split into 3 pairs in the midst of flapping. Looking closely, one will notice that each wing was thinner than before, and can conclude that his single pair had indeed split evenly into 3.

As the wings flapped, they steadily grew louder, and eventually the wings appeared to stop moving entirely. Despite this, the wind only grew stronger, and the sound louder, until it seemed to pulse like thunder. The wings were moving so fast that not even Pluto's experienced eyes could no longer follow them, and every flap broke the sound barrier.

Before, he could not approach Pluto at all as the flames would turn him to ashes if he was engulfed even once, but now the domain of wind forced back the heat and kept away the extending tongues of flame.

Then the tyrant bent forward, in a crouching stance, before vanishing. Ripples flew across the armor of flame, and Pluto widened his eyes before swinging his claw toward the earth. The Abyssal fire followed his paw and extended his range, and cleaved through the earth like a spade through sand, before swinging up. The molten earth flew through the air in all directions before being scattered by wind at a certain area.

The tyrant was visible once more. He appeared to have used a cloak of wind to make himself invisible, just like wind itself. But the monarch was not unscathed. Though they couldn't be seen under the flames covering him, he received hundreds of shallow cuts underneath. They were sustained from invisible wind blades, and had cut through his entire defense of boiling heat and flaming armor. Though they reformed instantly, it could not stop the blades. One can only imagine the wounds if he had armor.

Pluto was not idle, and knew he was at an elemental disadvantage. His fire could not break his wind, but the wind can easily flow through his fire. But the monarch was experienced and thought quickly.

The tyrant saw that small winds were not enough. He conjured large rings of gray wind to encircle himself, before flinging them in every direction. The rings of wind were so sharp and heavy, that they warped the surrounding air, leaving rip-like marks in the sky.

Pluto thrust his claws into the earth instantly, and flipped the earth like a tatami mat to block most of the wind, though some still got through, leaving heavy gashes in his body. He still took the chance to bury his body in the earth and cover himself with the resulting molten earth, creating another layer of molten earthen armor.

In retaliation sunk his body into the earth and expelled fire inside. In response, the land rumbled, split and spewed lava, fire, and coal into the air. As it fell, the heavy magmas seeped through the shell of wind, burning a spot of fur, leaving the tyrant surprised.

They tyrant wouldn't just take it, and moved at near impossible speeds to evade the bulk of the raining fire. At the same time he fired heavy rings of wind to tear at the monarch's defense, and then razor sharp arcs of wind that cleaved the the sky and flew like arrows into the openings of Pluto's armor.

As time passed, the earth was ruined and the sky was littered with scars. The tyrant started to feel the heat, and much of his fur had been burned to the muscle, it was growing difficult to dodge the fire rain, and keeping up the wind domain was terribly exhausting. The monarch had also sustained uncountable shallow injuries, which were constantly bleeding, as he could not cauterize his own wounds due to inbuilt fire resistance.

Both were growing weaker, and they knew they couldn't keep this up. They were both determined to finish the battle in a single move.
