The Last Abyssal, Tyrannical Pet

Chapter 64 - Chasing Thunder

Though actually not exactly unharmed, the cat still emerged merely coughing and covered in dust. But this alone caused many l thoughts to run through Shen Feilong's head at the shocking scene.

Is that even possible?! Isn't lightning supposed to be as fast as light?! And isn't light ridiculously fast?! How do you just dodge that?!

In truth, the Lightning element is indeed an absurdly overpowered element. Impossible speed, tyrannical power, can cause internal injuries, affect nervous systems and all sorts of crazy things. The one weakness is that it's near impossible to fully control. It's accuracy is often times garbage, and it's easy to receive a backlash. It takes some time to generate and use it as well.

Lightning affinity spirit beasts are already rare enough. Even the most common, the Lightning Cloud Azure Sky Serpents, Are rarely encountered. Since they move in swarms, to challenge that many lightning element beasts at once is pretty much suicide, as no matter how inaccurate, if there are many of bolts at once, a few are bound to hit.

Even with their lightning affinity, Shen Feilong's family could be considered extremely lucky to catch some. Though they are of the few who are capable enough to catch any.

But this alone made their clan highly reputable. Shen Feilong was extremely proud of them.

So to see this qi refining realm cat take the lightning unharmed was simply impossible In his eyes.

It seemed to emerge from the cloud of dust only a little worse for wear. It's eyes now flashed a wrathful red, and though it's physique hadn't changed, the pressure emitted made the cat seem a size bigger.

"H-how is that cat fine?!" He directed the question at Chen Ling, who he only now noticed was looking distressed and worried for her precious cat. She knew it's condition best, how could lightning be taken like that.

"Xiaohei said that the lightning was weak, and could be easily dispersed by a bit of dust." It actually surprised him that she answered, and he remembered that the cat had kicked up a cloud of dust in front of itself. Did that stop the lightning?

"Ah! Sorry Xiaohei. You're right, I shouldn't be talking to bad kids..." she obediently reflected, but to be called 'bad' by her caused a blow to Shen Feilong's heart.

"I-I don't believe that you can take it all!" He ordered the Lightning Cloud Azure Sky Serpent to finish the cat quickly.

He was fairly confident in their chances. Main reason being, he had a perfect plan: camping!

The plan was remarkably simple, but it should work, as long as the cat couldn't fly, or it was able to endure the lightning long enough for the Lightning Cloud Azure Sky Serpent to get tired.

Lightning flashed through the expanding thundercloud, and the rumble of thunder reverberated in the students' ears as the Lightning Cloud Azure Sky Serpent rose into the air, rippling with blue lightning.

Lightning rained down like a small scale apocalyptic calamity, and the earth was soon scorched black.

The cat was shockingly skillful, would run in zigzags, avoiding the lightning bolts at every turn, and never stopped moving. It would occasionally whip up dust clouds to weaken the lightning it couldn't avoid.

But that was all. He had no method of striking back, and the Lightning Cloud Azure Sky Serpent has energy to spare, while it was constantly running, and would tire eventually. The dust was effective, but lightning would strike faster than he could stir it up.

"Hahahaha!!! Run all you want! Your defeat is inevitable! Become ash under my foot!" He didn't know when, but he seemed to have swapped from a rival character to a bad guy. It might be the mood, but he didn't mind. All his attention was turned to deep frying this arrogant cat like American fast food.

"Is it okay to be so confident?" A voice rang clear in his ears over the loud sound of thunder and his diabolical laughter. It was Chen Ling, she seemed to have a slight smile as she faced him.

"Eh...?" He couldn't help but be momentarily happy when she smiled at him, but his judgement had yet to be completely clouded. How can she smile at a time like this? Then he noticed something.

The thunder seemed to be getting louder. Why was that? Then he noticed that, the cat, it appeared to be closer than before. He observed it closely, as something strange was happening. Then the cat turned to him, and it was just for a split second, but he saw that darn smirk on its face as glowing red eyes locked with his own.

He then realized that the cat was getting closer to him on purpose! It was practically running straight toward him! It was running in an erratic pattern of zig zags and back tracks, but the distance was closing.

He didn't notice before because the field was big and he didn't think the battle would affect him at such a great distance.

He then realized Chen Ling's plan. If you can't beat the knight, take the king. He had no choice but to try to increase his distance.

But the second he took a step, the god forsaken cat began to run straight in his direction, ignoring the incoming lightning!

This should have been a chance, but no bolts would hit him! The Sky Serpent has also realized the Chen Ling's plan and tried to aim at the infuriating cat, but it was somehow extremely fast, and it was growing dark by now, the thundercloud's shadow wasn't helping either. The visibility was lowering, and the black cat looked like a shadow in the night, barely identifiable. The more the serpent aimed, the more it missed. Lightning wasn't ever that accurate in the first place, even more so now that they couldn't pinpoint the target.

"H-hey wait...Qinglong...?" Gradually he realized that the cat was closing in on him with hellish red eyes that seemed to represent the infernos of the hell itself. The cat was one thing, but the lightning too, was also starting to strike near him. He tripped, and fell on his bottom.

"Qinglong! Wait! Don't hit me!" Wouldn't it be just sad if someone of the Shen clan was struck to death by lightning? Though it was actually more common than one would think, as they would have frequent ventures to capture the Sky Serpents. Casualties were inevitable despite their resistance.

And poor Shen Feilong wasn't even in qi refining, and had yet to master any lightning techniques, so if he was hit by a bolt of lightning from a soul refining beast, he would die instantly.

The Sky Serpent knew this too, so it ceased its assault, and could only move to intercept the accursed cat with its body, as wind was of no use on it.

"No! Qinglong!" The boy cried in despair. But the serpent was not bred for melee battles, if it fought this devil cat, it would certainly die without resistance. But in the end, it had no choice. It's orders were to protect the young master, even at the cost of his life. Gentle eyes looked upon this young master, as if reassuring him. The Lightning Cloud Azure Sky Serpent has already resigned to its fate...

But the battle did not come, the Shen Feilong looked up to see a wall of mud ruse between them and the cat.

"B-black turtle...?" He turned to see his glasses friend, standing alongside White Tiger, the River Splitting Earth Tortoise, and the Snow Veil Mountain Tiger.

"Didn't we promise to always walk forward together?" His suit friend, White Tiger, straightened his suit cuffs and stood in front of him.

"Let's fight this Demon King together!" Black Tiger adjusted his glasses and held out his hand.

"Y-yea! Together, we definitely won't lose to the Demon King!" He took the hand, stood up, and faced his adversary...
