The Legacy Of Son Goku

Chapter -5 - About Growth

Growth is a system derived from "Sevens" novel similar to Leveling up on RPGs. People fought or defeat their enemies and acc.u.mulated points until they reached a breakthrough and underwent what known as Growth.

Growth differed between people. Some was focused on increasing agility rather than strength or vise versa. Basically how they'll grow was different based on their own potential. Even the amount of "points" were different since some people needed to acc.u.mulate a lot of points to reach a breakthrough. But bigger points lead to bigger Growth so it's worth it and far better. It could also increase people's lifespan little by little the more they Growth.

Our MC has the most powerful Growth because he's a Saiyan. All of his overall abilities are increasing sharply without inclining to a specific status like agility or strength. The experience points needed for him to breakthrough are tremendous too but because he's a Saiyan, as long as he fought against powerful adversaries he could Growth far more quickly than normal people. The problem is that if he did not fight with opponent that could at least make him use his full power in base form, the result of the next Growth would be a lot more insignificant, he needed a suitable enemy to stimulate and satiate his Saiyan traits. The good thing is that, the stronger the opponent he fought, the larger his next Growth will be, this is especially true if he fought an 'impossible' enemy.

If this is confusing then imagine the level system in Danmachi, it's similar to that just no numerical values and you could breakthrough as long as you acc.u.mulated enough point without having to challenge themselves. But yeah if you want to Growth more quickly then you need to take a risk and fought stronger opponents for more experience points.
