Xu Ling glanced at Yang Guang and asked, “I didn’t say anything. How do you know what I’m thinking?”

“I was afraid that you would get the wrong idea.” Yang Guang laughed and then explained, “Last night, she fell asleep in my arms. I knew she felt insecure, so I stayed with her.”

Xu Ling stopped him. “You don’t have to explain anything to me. I’m not dwelling on it.”

She changed the subject. “By the way, last night, you gave Lai Laosi 30,000. Wasn’t it too much?”

Upon hearing this, Yang Guang replied bitterly, “Of course it is. But what can I do? That is the only way to save my sister-in-law and to help her break away from the Wu family so that she won’t continue to be harassed by them.”

“You’re right!” Xu Ling nodded before sighing. “But I still think it’s unfortunate that the idea of the greenhouse is gone.”

“It’s all right. There’s still money left, and soon I’ll be able to earn more. In the future, hundreds of thousands of millions of dollars will come in, so that amount is nothing,” Yang Guang said with a smile.

Xu Ling glanced at him. “You’re just bluffing. Making money isn’t that easy!”

“Well, for me, it’s pretty easy.” Yang Guang then whispered, “Let her sleep in. Let’s make breakfast together.”

“Okay,” Xu Ling agreed, and the two of them went out together.

A new day had begun in Qingshan Village…

Breakfast had been freshly prepared. Yang Guang was about to call his sister-in-law to come eat when a police car suddenly pulled up at the door and two uniformed officers entered the courtyard.

Upon seeing them, Xu Ling immediately ran over and greeted them with a smile, “Chief Hu, what brings you here?”

“Secretary Xu, we’re here for an investigation.”

Hu Jian smiled and turned to look at Yang Guang.

Yang Guang walked over and asked in confusion, “What do you need from me?”

“You must be Yang Guang. Lai Laosi said that you were the one who transferred him the money in his account. Is that true?” Hu Jian asked.

“Yes, it happened last night. I asked Secretary Xu for help with the transfer.” Yang Guang nodded, and then asked with some curiosity, “It was only a few grand. It’s not such a large sum that it would alarm the police, right?”

Upon hearing this, Hu Jian said with a smile, “Normally, it wouldn’t have alarmed us, but Lai Laosi was caught gambling last night, and we needed to investigate the source of his funds.”

“What? He was arrested?”

Yang Guang and Xu Ling were both stunned for they hadn’t expected such a turn of events.

Yang Guang quickly asked, “He’s been arrested? What will happen to the money?”

“The suspected amount was too large, and all of it has been confiscated,” Hu Jian answered.

Yang Guang was delighted when he heard the news. “That’s great.”

Hu Jian took a moment to process his reaction before asking, ” Could you tell me in detail what the money was all about?”

“Of course.” Yang Guang began explaining the circumstances of the incident. Hu Jian replied, “I see. If the money comes from a legitimate source, then there isn’t any issue.”

“Well, Lai Laosi got what he deserved. I was feeling a little upset about giving him money, but now it’s all good.” Yang Guang laughed.

After sending off the two policemen, Yang Guang was in good spirits and hurried back to his room to announce the great news to Xiaolian.

Xiaolian had slept well the night before, and she had actually already been awake since earlier. However, when she remembered what had happened last night, she was afraid to go out as she had no idea how to face Yang Guang.

Just then, the door rattled and when she saw Yang Guang come in, blood rushed to her face.

Yang Guang pretended not to notice and said with a smile, “Xiaolian, Lai Laosi was caught gambling last night and his money was all confiscated. Don’t you think that this is something we should celebrate?”

“He deserved it.” Xiaolian agreed with a nod.

“That’s right. He got what he deserved!”

Yang Guang said with a smile, “Xiaolian, breakfast is ready. Hurry up and come eat.”

He then turned and left. Xiaolian was left staring blankly at his back in a daze.

A moment later, she came to her senses and stood up with a soft sigh.

During breakfast, Yang Guang and Xu Ling did not mention what had happened last night. They played with Yaya while discussing the greenhouse.

The land could be handled easily. As a result of the mining accident, there were only elderly, women and children left in the village and much of the arable land was deserted, so as long as they talked to the villagers and spent some money, they should be able to get the contract.

On the issue of construction, they would have to seek out professionals.

Fortunately, Xu Ling had had a few words with the village chief of the neighboring Shifu Village during the town meeting, and they had some vegetable greenhouses there, so they could give them a link with a construction team.

When it came to this, Yang Guang glanced at Xu Ling. “I’ll leave the greenhouse business to you. I have to head to town today for some other business.”

“Business? What do you have to do?” Xu Ling asked.

“I still have to prepare for the planting of the Tianma, which has been delayed for several days,” Yang Guang answered.

Xu Ling nodded. “I see. The money is with me anyway, so I’ll call the shots here on your behalf.”

“Thanks, Xu Ling. I’ll treat you to a good meal some time,” Yang Guang said with a smile.

Xu Ling rolled her eyes. “Forget food. It’s a huge investment after all, so just trust me!”

Yang Guang laughed. “What are you talking about? We’re a family, so what’s there to worry about?”

Xu Ling blushed and glared at him, “You’re trying to take advantage of me again.”

“What? I meant that we are as close as siblings,” Yang Guang explained.

Wu Xiaolian watched with a smile on her face as the young pair bickered, but an unexplained feeling began to rise in her heart, and she couldn’t quite tell what it was.

After breakfast, everyone went about their own business.

After a bumpy ride to town, Yang Guang first headed for an internet cafe.

He was not here to enjoy himself, but to do some research.

Ironically, despite vowing to grow Tianma in three months, he didn’t even know about its characteristics, the environment it grew in, or the cultivation methods.

So he had to understand all of this first before buying what he needed.

Time was of the essence. Yang Guang wanted to hurry up and get this done. He couldn’t let himself dawdle and end up losing to Mu Xiaowan despite having planted Tianma.

Concentrating on the information on the screen. Yang Guang didn’t use a pen or paper to record the information, but quickly memorized the contents.

He didn’t know what was happening, but he felt that his intelligence had grown substantially since he’d inherited the Method of Divine Farmer, and he was able to remember complex content after reading it only once.

The internet cafe was quite crowded at this time, and the majority of the customers were young. They were older teenagers who played a team game which involved toppling towers.

Everyone had been minding their own business without bothering anyone else, until someone behind Yang Guang snickered, “There are still people who use flip phones?”

Yang Guang froze and turned around to find two teenage boys looking at him with disdain.
