The Lightning Demon..

Chapter 3 - Prologue (3/3)

Wisteria Market, a huge market that sold everything for pretty decent prices. It was by far the largest market in Restaka Kingdom due to its large variety of goods and the reasonable prices. at which they sell them. It was at this market that Juda now found himself, using the platinum coin his father had given him to buy some new clothes for himself.

It had been almost a full week since he had been given the sack of coins and almost a full week since his family had paid for him to go to the prestigious Mastik Academy. Even now it still made him upset that his parents had spent most of the money on him, leaving them with 2 measly platinum coins, but what was done was done and he quickly forgave them. However he once again got riled up when his parents gave him yet another coin for himself and it took his whole family to calm him down and had to basically force him to take the coin.

Juda had wanted his family to spend the money on themselves, it had been his original intent from the moment the cloaked man gave him it. Its not that he didn't appreciate his family spending it on him, it was just that he wanted the people he loved most in the world to be able to indulge themselves for once. Yes they still had a single platinum coin left which could easily last them a whole decade, but it still didn't erase the issue that they wasted most of it on him.

Gripping the platinum coin in his hand, Juda vowed to make his parents proud of him. "Okay, lets go and find me some decent clothes to wear...tho only 3 sets should do. They also told me to buy a weapon since those are allowed in Mastik. Wonder what I should get...."

Wisteria Market was divided into four parts. First was the Home & Living section where you could all your daily necessities and stuff for your home. The second part was home to the Outdoor & Recreational section where one could find anything related to the outdoors and stuff that could be used to have a good time. The third part belonged to the Weapons & Studies section where one could find books containing various knowledge and information not to mention that you could find weapons as well as decent blacksmiths. The last section was basically for looking for things that couldn't be found in any of the other three.

Juda had visited the Wisteria Market so many times as a kid that he practically knew the whole place like the back of his hand. Out of all the commoners and slum dwellers who frequented the Market, no one knew it quite like Juda. He knew all the ins and outs as well as most of the shop owners. About half of the owners hated him and called him slum trash, but the other half treated him kindly as they were good friends with Judas father Stans.

"Okay so first things first," Juda said as he broke into a run. "Lets get me some clothes to wear, something that looks totally awesome and amazing. Maybe I'll even buy some clothes for June.....that would sure make her happy."

Juda was already in the Home & Living section but he skipped most of the stores and headed straight for the shop located near the edge of the section, a place known as Demonic Embrace. This place sold clothes a bit near the expensive end so Juds had never really been here even when his parents had had a bit more money then they usually do. However now that he had a whole platinum coin to himself, Juda could finally go and purchase clothes from the store. Additionally, the store stold both men and womens clothes so he could not only purchase his own clothes, but also some clothes for his sister as well.

Juda skidded to a stop and opened the door to the store, too excited to stop for even a second. He entered inside and, after saying hello to the store owner, a man named Ken Aramaki who happened to be a friend of Stans, he began to wander around the store, searching the male section in search of an outfit he liked.

He found himself unable to find one and was just about to give up and swtich over to searching the female clothes for his sister when something near the back of the store caught his eye. It wasn't anything fancy nor was it colorful enough to stand out, it just somehow drew his attention despite all the other clothes that looked much better then the one he was looking at.

The outfit was pretty simple, a black shirt underneath a white jacket that had black sleeves and black hood. The words "Wolf" ran across the length of the right sleeve in big red letters. The outfit even came with matching pants, a pair of white pants that had black on the outside and also possessed the word "Wolf" running the length of the left leg. Overall it was a cool outfit that somehow mamaged to stand out from the bright colors and other sets of clothes. Juda decided to purchase it on the spot and even began looking for similar items that matched the outfit, managing to find three sets just like it.

Once he was done shopping for himself, Juda spent a bit of time, around an hour or so, picking out stuff for his family. By the time he had finished, he had picked out five sets of clothes for his sister, three sets for his mother, and fours sets for his father. He was quite satisfied with his selections even when total came out to 11 gold coins, he didnt bat an eye as he handed over the platinum coin.

Ken looked amazed for a second and even bit on the coin before going into another room to get the proper change. He didn't say anything except to ask how Stans was doing. After chatting with Ken for a bit, Juda left the store with bags in hand, now heading for the Weapons & Studies section of the Market. Even though it wasn't a requirement to have a weapon, he still wanted to use one anyways.

The Weapons & Studies section was a part of the Wisteria Market that Juda frequented quite a bit whenever he went to the Market alone. He loved looking at the weapons on display and would imagine one day wielding them as a fully trained magician, fighting Fantasia and other enemies with a spear or sword in hand.

Juda's original plan was to walk around and find the coolest weapon he could find, however, for the second time that day, something caught his eye. Near the beginning of the section, situated between two stores was a large carriage with two horse tied up next to it. It was strange to see a carriage parked anywhere in the Wisteria Market as the carriaged would mainly be in the noble realm where the Emperial Market was located. Carriages located in any market are guarenteed to have top quality stuff, everyone knew it which is why you could only find them located in the noble realm market as most commoners couldn't afford to pay the price for even the lowest priced item in the carriage.

Juda stopped for a second and looked towards the carriage with curious eyes. Numerous interesting smells were wafting out of the carriage serving to make Juda even more curious as to what was inside. It could be said that one of Judas primary weaknesses was his curiousity. He couldn't help but want to quell his intrigue when he found something mysterious or unknown. This was no different as he switched directions and headed straight for the carriage.

The carriage had a sign next to it that read "Come In" so he just jumped inside without hesitation. Inside the carriage was actually much roomier then it appeared on the inside to the point where only a Spatial Elemental user could be done it. Juda had heard that a master in Spatial Elemental magic could make a small tent fit over a thousand people with a single spell.

"Oi, you a customer?" A feminine voice asked, cutting through Judas thoughts. "If dont have money then get out, I don't have enougn patience to deal with low life slum sc.u.m such as yourself. Heck, just from looking at you its easy to tell where your from."

Juda set his bags down onto the floor before looking to his left where instead of the wall of the carriage was a door that lead deeper inside. The woman who had stepped out from behind the door was amazingly beautiful but Juda neither found her attractive nor appealing as the scent she was giving off was pure condescension. If it wasnt for his curiosity, he would have smiled and excused himself to go shop elsewhere, but he mentally grit his teeth and chose to b.a.r.e it.

"Yeah, I got money miss Moneybags," Juda said as he picked up the huge bag filled with 989 gold coins. "I'm indeed from the slums but you don't have to worry about my funds. All I want is a weapon then I'll be on my way."

"Okay then feel free to lo-," The woman stopped midsentence, a slow frown coming over her face. "Did you just call me miss Moneybags?? My name is Jamicia Arlock. Remember to use it or next time I'll make your head roll."

Juda had only been half listening as he had already begun looking around and merely nodded at her words. He was much more interested in the weapons she had then actually speaking to her. He merely pushed her name to the back of his mind as he browsed the large carriage which was basically now the size of a normal house.

Juda was gazing at a sword that was literally glowing and a dagger that was flaming when he picked up a sort of electrifying unidentifiable scent, something he had never smelled before. It was the strangest scent yet it was far from unpleasant and he immediately tracked it down to a small bright white coin located in the back of the carriage with a price tag reading "980". The coin gave off an aura of power, a sign that magic had been imbued into it, only it felt different from the rest as if it was resonating with his own magic. It was a hard feeling to describe but he felt like this coin was meant for him.

Turning back to look at Jamicia, Juda gestured towards the coin. "Hey Moneybags, whats this?" He watched as Jamicia looked up with a glare filled with murderous intent but her face changed into a smile when she saw what he was pointing at.

"Oh, thats the most expensive item here," Jamicia said with a bright smile. "Its a coin that has two forms. If you catch it in your hand while heas side if facing your palm you get a dagger and if you catch the tail side then you get a spear. Not only that but the stronger you get, the stronger you get with magic, the stronger the weapon is so you can feel free to use all your magic in full force."

Juda smiled as he reached out and took it without hesitation, dropping his whole bad of money at Jamicia's feet. "I'll take it. You can keep the change Moneybags. Thanks for the help."

Jamicia looked a little shocked that he had bought it so quickly. She had half expected him to barter but he had dropped the bag of coins with even batting an eye. "Wait, don't you want to make sure I'm not scamming you."

Juda turned around, his blue eyes literally glowing and lightning sparked the air in front of him. "Your NOT cheating me are you??"

Jamicia felt the air turn heavy as the full weight of the young mans magical power was shown, making her knees suddnely feel weak. If she activated her own magical power and attacked, the kid would stand no chance, but thwn she would definitely lose the coins he had just given her. So all she could do was shake her head as she struggled to remain standing.

After a few moments, Juda pulled back his power and smiled. "Sorry I had to do that, but I thought Id help you out. You should never judge a book by its cover no matter what. If it hadn't been me and some noble instead or even a royal, youd have probably been in soke serious trouble. Next time you should be careful and try to speak to others kindly. Again, I'm sorry I did that to you. Have a nice day!!"

With those words Juda picked up his stuff and jumped out of the carriage, now completely free of curiosity, instead now eager to get back home and present his family with the gifts he had gotten them.
