Eighteen: The Hunting Ground

Having survived in the wild with Lothar for a few days, Ai Xi feltThis young man whom he had known for more than ten years had a new understanding again.

He is really good at survival in the wilderness.

Even with only one arm left, and even if his body’s injuries haven’t healed, he can still easily catch some small animals, dig out snow holes with his bare hands, and even build a simple tent with only some things he picked up. Even Ashe, who has been tempered by the powerful ice bloodlines in the tribe since she was a child and considers herself the best of the younger generation, has to admit that Lothar may not be able to beat her, but if they have to survive in the wild, Lothar will definitely not be able to defeat her. Can outlive her much longer.

However, Lothar built the tent very small every night. His excuse was that the materials were limited, but Ashe felt that he just wanted to hug himself tighter when sleeping.

After a few days of recuperation, Lothar’s body recovered to the point where she could barely walk on her own, but Ai Xi was still worried and told Lothar not to leave her more than ten steps away.

The two slowly headed northwest to the coast.

“Are we really going to go through the bear man’s hunting ground?” Ashe was a little worried, “Can’t we choose other safer routes?”

“Yes, there is, but it takes a long way to go around.” Lothar laughed. “You don’t have to worry. Although the bears are bloodthirsty and brutal, they are not sharp. As long as we are concealed enough, we can pass through safely.”

Ashe was still worried. She recalled the stories about bear people she had heard, and every story was disturbing.

“Don’t be afraid.” Lothar picked up Ashe’s hand. The girl’s hand felt warm and delicate. Lothar remembered that Ashe used to have a few calluses on her hands, but after going down the mountain, they disappeared for some reason. The bow seemed to be Changed her physique, “Believe me, I used to come to the bearman’s hunting ground to hunt a lot.”

Ashe couldn’t believe it.

“You’re crazy! What’s the difference between this and grabbing food from a tiger’s mouth?” Ashe didn’t know how Lothar survived so boldly, even Glenna would show awe when she mentioned the bear man Love, never go in contact with them.

“Otherwise, how do you think I hunt so many prey every year, and those wild beasts won’t come to let me kill them?” Lothar didn’t seem to be afraid of the bear man, “The bear man has occupied such a good hunting ground. Poach a little that they don’t notice.”

“Alas…” Ashe let out a long sigh.

“What’s wrong?”

“I’m starting to have doubts about making an oath with you.” Ashe said while rubbing her forehead.

Lothar was struck by lightning: “Why?!”

Ashe grabbed Lothar’s head with both hands and looked directly at him: “You don’t cherish your life too much. What if I make an oath with you and you die? You want me to live in the grief of losing my spouse for the rest of my life Is it in? Promise me, it will not be allowed in the future [resource; source’ group]: 9? 8; 0; 2?. 0′. 5,, 8″5. ;6 Risk your life again!”

Lothar’s face was squeezed flat by Ashe, and he said, “Zidaolu…”

As soon as she stepped into the bear man’s hunting ground, Ashe felt the change in the air.

The cold and rancid breath squirmed heavily in the wind, and his chest felt uncomfortable as if being pressed by a boulder, and even inhaling became an extremely uncomfortable thing.

Lothar motioned for silence and slowed down. He didn’t look unusual, and it should be true that he often came to the bear hunting grounds.

Ash suddenly felt very at ease staying by Lothar’s side. This feeling was only brought to her by Glenna before.

Ashe grabbed the corner of Lothar’s clothes and nervously followed behind him.

Apart from the malice in the air, there seemed to be nothing special about the bear man’s hunting grounds. It was winter, and the animals were hiding as much as possible. Everything was completely silent and covered in white.

A bright red appeared in the white world.

It’s a bloodstain, and it lasts for a long time.

Ashe looked at Lothar, and Lothar made a gesture, indicating that it might be the blood of some large animal.

Ashe wrote on Lothar’s palm: “Will there be meat?”

Lothar shook his head, indicating not to approach the bloodstain.

Ashe didn’t know the reason, but she chose to believe Lothar.

The two continued to move forward, keeping a certain distance from the bloodstains. Finally, they saw the end of the bloodstain from afar——

A complete adult cogtodon carcass is about the size of three tigers.

Aixi showed a joyful expression on his face. The corpse didn’t seem to have been dead for long, and its meat alone was enough for the two of them to not have to worry about food for a week or two.

“What do you think?” Ashe wrote in Lothar’s hands.

Lothar observed for a while, but still shook his head, expressing that he didn’t want to go there.

Ashe was a little puzzled, there was food that was readily available in front of her, why not?

Before Ashe had time to ask questions, a figure suddenly broke into her field of vision.

The figure was holding a long-handled and wide-bladed blade, and was covered with a thick layer of bear skin. He was walking quickly towards the corpse of the cogtodon beast.

“The Lost One!” Ashe was startled, and she quickly wrote on Lothar’s hand, “Is it the Lost One?”

Lothar looked solemn, staring at the figure closely.

The man in the bear’s fur walked near the corpse of the cogtodon, and the wide blade began to cut pieces of meat quickly.

Suddenly, Ashe felt the ground shake, as if something huge was moving underground.

A giant snake drilled out from the ground below the Cogtodon, and swallowed the Cogtodon whole with one mouthful.

“It’s Gruffin!” Ashe recognized what the giant snake was, “It’s so big!”

Ashe understood why Lothar didn’t let her get close to the carcass of the cogtodon. It was a bait, and the Gruffin giant snake likes to use this method to lure new prey..

The man in the bearskin reacted quickly and escaped the sudden attack from the ground, but his whole body was also thrown out. The Gruffin giant snake’s eyes had locked on to him, and it immediately continued to attack him.

“Help her!” Lothar said suddenly, “Use your bow!”

“She” Ashe noticed that Lothar used female pronouns. She didn’t understand why Lothar asked her to help a lost person, but she couldn’t allow her to think too much about it. Her trust in Lothar made her bow her head immediately.

The arrow condensed by the power of pure ice hit the head of the Gruffin giant snake, and the ferocious penetrating force directly penetrated the giant snake’s head.

But the giant snake is too big. Although the small arrows contain the power of Zhenbing, it will take some time to spread to its whole body.

“Continue! Shoot the eyes as much as possible!” Lothar directed.

Ashe condensed her arrows again. She was not very used to using this True Ice Bow, and the hand holding the handle of the bow felt a little sore. This was the backlash of the True Ice Weapon to the user.

Ashe ignored the pain in her hand as much as possible, the arrow shot again, and another arrow pierced the Gruffin snake’s nasal bone.

The man in the bear’s skin did not run away, but rushed towards the giant snake together with the long handle and wide blade.

“Ahhh!” Her angry roar accompanied the sharp blade piercing the giant snake’s body. She jumped on the giant snake and dragged the knife and ran desperately. The wide blade tore a long line of blood along the giant snake’s body. At the mouth, the giant snake crazily rolled up and down, making a frightening scream.

Even though it was far away, even if it was covered by the giant snake’s voice, Ashe heard that man’s wild roar.

“Lothar is right.” Ashe heard it, “She is indeed a woman.”

Among the local gods of the Freljord, the most notorious one is the giant bear god Volibear.

Volibear is the god of storm and war. His image is that of a bloodthirsty giant bear. The fangs and claws are always stuck with the bitten flesh. He has the desire to slaughter all living beings and even gods. It is said that Lissandra among the legendary three sisters was blinded by Volibear.

Among the countless stories about Volibear, fighting is his only interest, and killing is his favorite food. Many Fereljord tribes worship Volibear before going to war, begging him to grant them victory in battle. But in normal times, almost no one would pray to him, and even talking about his name was an unwritten taboo.
