The Lost Fruits

Chapter 30 - Giant Islands...

Some people say that the ocean is the most mysterious thing in the world, and others say that the ocean is alive, aware, and capable of feeling. While others just say it is a vast blue thing with no bottom. But only a minority believes that the ocean is all of the above; Mysterious, Alive, and bottomless.

Behind the raging waves, far far away, beyond wherever anyone sailed. A lone island sits comfortably on the ocean. Its inhabitants are people who are filled with fun and hard work, each day they work from day to night to get their food from the beloved paradise of an island.

And one of those people is a young black-haired girl with a stand skin and brown eyes. She ran out of her house like thunder heading towards the ocean to meet her favorite person on the island.

"Grandma!!" The Girl shouted as she stopped to catch her breath in front of an elderly woman with white hair who was dancing on a flat rock.

"M.o.a.na...you are early today." The elderly woman smiled while her eyes are closed, she continued dancing letting her young grandchild watch her moves.

"Yes, I know. But I wanted to hear the ned of your story from yesterday." M.o.a.na, the energetic girl, and the daughter of the chief of Motunui village and the future chief herself sat down on the ground.

"Haha!" Her Grandma chuckled and shook her head "Which story you're referring to, my child?" she asked after doing a big and slow spin with her feet.

Ah, eh, the one where you were talking about the giant islands beyond the ocean." M.o.a.na smiled widely and waited for her new story.

"Ah that one, unfortunately, child, that is no story you should know,"

"What? but you said it is a fascinating thing. Please Grandma Tala, tell me." M.o.a.na pleaded her grandma who opened her eyes slowly to peek at her grandchild only to see her puppy-like eyes.

Not being able to resist her grand child's cuteness, Tala sighed and took her cane to support herself "Now...The giant islands beyond the ocean. Walk with me." Tala turned and walked on the golden sand of the beach to stroll for a bit. M.o.a.na jumped up from her place and ran behind her grandma.

"Long ago, in a forgotten place and time, one man sought for himself to explore the ocean and beyond. A curious little man with undying will, he sailed beyond the reefs into the dark parts of the ocean. Attacked by sea monsters and storms but he never gave up, that only made him feel more excited and happy to see his adventure through. After a long time, his supplies ended, the fish was nowhere to be found. He then felt hopeless, he knows that he will die alone in the vast ocean without even realizing his dream." Tala looked back at her grandchild who was so immersed in the story and smiled "But then he saw it. An island, bigger than anything he had ever seen, he started rowing as fast as he can. He reached it and met its people, they were diffrent from him, he felt so happy. He realized his dream but that wasn't enough, he wanted more, he wanted to see it all. He traveled through that Island interacted with its people...and then it realized...There was more, he was told that there are other giant lands other than that one, countless and bigger, richer, and more."

"Oh my god!" M.o.a.na shouted and jumped in her place "Did he see them all?" she asked.

"No," Tala spoke, she looked at the ocean and sighed.

"Why not? he knows they were there, he saw one, he could go to the other ones." M.o.a.na was confused.

"Perhaps you still don't know what the word Giant means, my child. By the time he got to the third Giant Island, he was old, frail, and with no strength, he knew his time has come." Tala resumed walking "His dream ended there, he gained a lot on his journey, he was happy, and accepted his destiny and joined his ancestors to share his story with them and brag about it to them."

"...Do you believe that there are Giant Islands out there Grandma?" M.o.a.na smiled and looked at the reef.

"I don't know...But I believe that there is something out there, like Maui, Te Feti, and Te Ka. If they exist, the Giant Islands aren't just a mere story."

Agrabah - Royal Palace - Jasmine's Chamber

Jasmine was on her desk with a feather pen in her hand, writing down on a paper with full concentration. Dalai who came back from washing the princess's clothes passed behind her and sneaked a peek at what she was writing.

"What are you doing?" She asked making Jasmine yelp in surprise.

"Don't do that, You scared me~" Jasmine put her hand on her c.h.e.s.t and took a deep breath.

"Yes, but what is that?" Dalai smiled and pointed at he paper in front of Jasmine.

Jasmine shook her head "Its a letter." she said.

"Oh really?! I thought it was a fish or something, how silly of me!" Dalia looked in awe at Jasmine.

Jasmine wasn't amused in the least "Haha, very funny of you. It's a letter to Ace." she said.

"Aha! A love letter." Dalai said with confidence "You should have told me, I could have been your co-writer. I love that kind of stuff."

"I am just asking about how things are going there. Nothing more, nothing less." Jasmine denied that without flinching making Dalia chuckle at her.

"Yes, of course, and I guess that asking "Are you eating well?" is related to the war too?"

"Dalia!!" Jasmine looked at her servant with wide eyes and a red face.

"Don't get shy now, think about how are you going to explain to him that you're the princess in that letter too. Hahaha!" Dalai laughed out loud when she saw Jasmine realize that she still hasn't explained to him her situation since her last blunder where she revealed her identity to him before he went to the war.

"Don't remind me." She mumbled as she buried her face in her hands in shame.
