The Lost Princess

Chapter 17 - Episode 17

~Long have I tried to see your glorious face/ Long have I tried to be near you/ If ever I were to see the golden gates/ I would surely, my dear, miss you.~

They sang together with perfect harmony. Then Loraz stepped forward and began her beautiful solo.

~My love for you is so grand, you see/ Like a river that stretches to the sea/ I have but only one wish for you, my dear/ Watch over me and keep true to me.~

Her voice rang in the hears of her classmates as they listened to her beautiful voice. Captivated by her angelic song they clapped their hands vigorously.

"Your voice has to be the most charming one I have ever heard. Why do you not join the choir, my dear?" The music instructor said.

"Because Instructor, if I were to join the choir it would bring far too much attention to my presence. I wish to finish out my time here peacefully and quiet." Loraz replied.

The instructor pressed her lips together tightly and sighed.

"Such a waste for a talented genius, such as yourself."

"Talented as I may be, I only sing for fun."

"Well, my dear, I for one will not give up hope in getting you to change your mind." The music instructor said.

Loraz smiled and nodded her head. Then looking at the holock, she saw that it was twenty minutes past the time she agreed to meet with Soa.

Looking back over to the instructor she handed her the music sheets she held.

"Is the class over now Instructor? I have another lesson soon and have to go ready myself for it." Loraz said.

The instructor took the sheets with one hand and nodded her head as she waved her off to go with the other.

"You may go early, child. With your skills attending this class is not necessary."

Loraz smiled at the compliment and waved farewell to her classmates.

"Thank you, Instructor."

She went back to her desk at the back of the class and grabbed her printouts and songbook. Loraz bowed her head one last time and then left the classroom walking quickly to her room.

On her way down the hall, she saw Samoir smiling and heading down the hall at rapid speed.

Their eyes met and Samoir waved her over.

"Oh Loraz, will you be joining us for lessons today as well?" Samoir asked.

Looking around to check her surroundings Loraz whispered,

"Umm...yes. I was just on my way to change into something more suitable."

Samoir giggled a little and placed a hand on Loraz's shoulder,

"Why are you whispering and what you have on right now will do for today. Soa will be teaching us how to conceal a weapon on us. I only know one...hiding a dagger under your skirts."

"I could really use a skill like that. It could come in handy."

"It does, but you have to know how to conceal it properly and be able to remove it from its hiding place with skill."

"I just hope all this training will do me some good in the future."

"It will be, trust me. Soa says that you are doing well, so believe in your teacher. Well, I will see you at the stables in a bit. Soa will not start without you, so please hurry."

Loraz smirked at Samoir and nodded her head yes.

"I will once I change my dress."

Samoir bowed her head slightly then seeing Robert walking up behind Loraz hurried off towards the stables.

Loraz watched as she walked and disappeared down the hall. She took in a deep breath and let it out slowly.

"So, when did you become friends with the princess of Dimpa?" Robert asked.

Startled she turned around and looked at who it was standing behind her.

His face was easy to read and she prepared herself for the series of questions that would spill out of his mouth.

"Robert please don't startle me like that. My heart nearly jumped out of my c.h.e.s.t."

"Are you going to answer my question? When did you become friends with the princess of Dimpa?"

"I wouldn't exactly call us friends. More like associates with the same interests."

"Same interests you say and what would these interests be?"

Loraz rolled her eye as she shook her head.

"Why are you asking me so many questions. I feel as if I'm being investigated or something. Is my being associated with Princess Samoir a problem?"

"For me not in the least, but be wary of who you make your allies. Everything about royal politics is about who you know and why you know them."

"How do you know that it is not I that is using her instead of the other way around."

"Loraz, please are you even capable of such a feat? Just watch what you share with her. Her father has had his eye on my father's kingdom for some time now."

Loraz laughed a bit as she threw her hand on her h.i.p.s then sighed.

"So the real reason comes to light. Scared I might spill some important secret of Mossca."

Robert walked in closer to her and stroked the side of her face with the back of his hand.

"I would just hate to see the person I find the most important betray the only real alley she ever had."

Loraz took hold of his hand and pushed it away from her.

"Worry not, Robert. My goal for our contact together is not for idle gossip. My goal is meeting up with her royal guard, Soa."

His eyes widened as she said the guard's name and he narrowed his eyes as he looked her in the eyes.

"Soa? Why would you want to see him?"

"For knowledge that he has and I don't. Now if you will excuse me if I don't hurry I'll be late for something important."

"What kind of knowledge could a guard of Dimpa have that you wish to know?"

"I have to go now, Robert. We shall talk again another time okay."

Loraz went to walk around him and Robert grabbed her by her waist,

"Wait, you haven't answered my question yet."

Loraz looked up at him and with her heart racing, she quickly peeled his arm and hand off of her.

"Robert, please, I have to go get changed for training."

Robert grabbed her around his eyes full of fire.

"Training...for what your next class shouldn't be for another hour and it is for advanced art. What are you training for?"

Her wide she pulled away from him and scoffed,

"Are you having me watch? Why do you know my schedule? Wait, it doesn't matter I have to go now. We will finish this later."

Connecting all the dots Robert tried to detain her as best he could.

"Hold on what kind of training are you doing with the princess of Dimpa and her guard?"

"Don't worry about it, see you for tea later alright."

Loraz stormed off towards her room.

Robert stood there watching her race down the hall as she left him behind dumbstruck.

"What the hell do you need combat training for..." He whispered to himself.

He then clenched his fist and pounded it against the wall and stormed off.
