Episode 3: The Main Heroine Who’s Cold Towards the Hero

In the eyes of me and the rest of the class, Dorothy was the perfect heroine.

Not simply because of her beauty, but it’s because she can do anything and everything, which is why everybody looks up to her.

She was kind to everyone, no matter who they were.

She is interesting to talk to and has a wide repertoire of topics to talk about.

She has a cute voice and smells really good.

She is good at cleaning and cooking, and takes good care of others.

She is smart and athletic.

When it comes to magic, there is no one better than her. She is so strong that I wonder if it is even necessary for her to attend this school.

She is the object of admiration of all men and women.

But, she’s the main heroine of the story.

If this is a story, then it’s a given that if you fall in love with her, you’ll fall apart very badly.

I may be accused of reading too many books, but after observing Lute’s antics and the actions of the flagged heroines for the past year, I’ve learned something interesting.

There is a mysterious gravitational force at work to make the hero get preferential treatment from the others.

There is no future other than the hero and heroine getting together, and there’s no way to resist a plot that’s already been set in stone.

I was running away from the scene.

I must not get involved with her any further.

If I interfered with the heroine, the world would not allow it.

There would be a turn of events that would prevent me from interacting with other men, all in order to get rid of me.

I don’t want to be in that sort of situation.

As I ran out of the school building, drenched in sweat, the remaining students at the main entrance looked at me as if they had just witnessed a suspicious person leaving the school.

But I didn’t care about their thoughts and headed for the boys’ dormitory.

The next day.

I was hesitant to enter the classroom because of yesterday’s incident, but I was relieved to hear that there were no rumors surrounding it.

I was relieved to hear that there were no rumors about me, although it would be a waste of time to make rumors about someone as shady as me.

I headed towards my seat.

But I stopped along the way.

For some reason, Lute and his cronies Yukina, Liza and Emilia were all busy chatting around my desk.

“That…That’s…”

Fortunately, I was able to say a few words to them, but when they noticed me, they gave me a look that said they had never met me before.

Liza was blatantly glaring at me.

Was she angry because I interrupted her blissful time with the hero, or was it because someone she wanted nothing to do with someone like me who approached her?

Either way, it doesn’t matter.

“You’re… um…”

Lute gave me a troubled look, even though we’d studied in the same classroom for two years in a row.

I’m accustomed to being treated like a mob character, but it’s still pretty annoying as h**l.

“That’s my seat…”

“Ah, sorry. I didn’t notice.”

When I pointed my finger at Lute, he seemed to notice and stood up and apologized to me.

It’s like he changed his way of dealing with someone…

I’m glad he left right away.

I’m sure he’ll forget about me immediately after this.

“Tsk.”

As they were leaving, my childhood friend Liza clicked her tongue at me.

I can’t help but wonder why she hates me so much.

I’m sure I haven’t done anything that Liza doesn’t like about me.

But she still treats me as a hindrance to her life.

It’s not like she treats me like an invisible person like the others, but instead it’s a clear rejection to me itself.

The class was about to start, so I sat and waited until it was time to go, until suddenly, the classroom door opened with a bang.

Everyone’s eyes were on the door.

There she was.

It was the main heroine, Dorothy.

“The last second… I’m just in time!”

She looked tired from the long distance she had just run.

Her forehead was sweating and her bangs were sticking to her face.

There are tears around her eyes, and she looks kind of s**y if I’m being honest.

But I was careful not to make any eye contact with her.

“You were unusually late, even for you. Is there something wrong?”

Of course, it is our hero, Lute, who was the first to be concerned about her.

“If you’re in trouble, talk to me, your former companion. I’ll help you as much as I can, you know.”

Lute got up from his desk and walked over to Dorothy, who looked worried for some reason.

“No, thank you.”

The classroom was buzzing as Dorothy looked around disinterestedly at the absolute womanizer Lute, whom she just gave the cold shoulder to.

How is that possible, that kind of thing?

It was an unbelievable scene for everyone who had been shown the harem every day.
She usually seemed to be the same as the other harem heroines, but this was really strange.

Lute and I were puzzled over her unexpected reply.

Unbeknownst to him, Dorothy walked past him to the back of the classroom.

Dorothy’s seat is supposed to be in the middle row, right next to Lute, but as I was thinking about it, my eyes met hers.

She looked happy.

I avert my eyes because I might have been mistaken, but she stops right in front of my desk.

“Good morning, Helios-kun!”

She greeted me cheerfully.

I was greeted by the perfect heroine of this story, who could do so little.

I couldn’t accept the fact that the main heroine had come all the way to me, a mob character, and I was very confused.

The only thing I know for sure is that Dorothy’s smile is brighter than the sun and even more beautiful than a blooming flower.

It’s not for me, that smile is for Lute.

Maybe she came here by mistake.

I just happened to see her and said hello.

She’s the kind of person who turns her kindness around without any distinction to any others.

It’s normal for her to talk to her classmates.

I’m sure she’ll just pass by my seat and treat me as if I’m not there, just like any other mob character.

Just as I was about to convince myself of this, she said———

“I’d like to sit next to you…is that-th?” okay?”

Dorothy’s cheeks flushed with embarrassment as she looked me in the eye.

She was looking at me as a person, and not as a shadow.
