Warren opened his eyes, the wood ceiling to his bedroom staring back. He laid in silence, the memories of yesterday flooding back to him.

For a second, he still stared, unsure of what to do as he relived the defeat from his sister. It had been four long days since had slept in a bed, hunting the wyvern taking up more time than he thought and even when he longed for it he ended up fighting his sister.

He exhaled heavily and thought to the memory of seeing Citrus. He remembered how m.a.t.u.r.ed she had looked, her body, magic, and personality completely different. Warren smiled, the thought of his annoying older sister becoming a woman made him feel proud. Although he would prefer if she held back when they played tag, well, she was always like that in the end.

Suddenly, a long exhale came from beside him, he turned to were Lucy laid beside him. Instead of the black cat he was use to seeing, Citrus slept soundly.

She had on her white gown, the one she had left when she went to King Academy. Warren immediately noticed how tight it was around her c.h.e.s.t. He looked away quickly, not wanting any weird thoughts to fill his mind.

However, his gaze fell back to her face, the sweet sound of her breath making chills fall down his back. She was gorgeous, easily putting any girls on earth to shame.

Warren ruffled his matted blonde hair and shook himself straight. He closed his eyes, wondering how long it had been since they slept in a bed together.

If Warren was right, the last time was five years ago. The feeling was warm and a sense of protection.

Right now, he was experiencing a completely different feeling, especially since it was cold and she had no bra on.

He finally forced himself to slowly get up, sitting on the bed staring at the wooden sword on his wall. Of course, perched on the hilt was Lucy, the cat seeming to giggle at him.

Warren raised an eyebrow and spoke through telepathy, 'What?' He asked as he saw her face.

Lucy shrugged, 'Someone seems happy this morning."

He looked down at his leather stitched pants, the area between his legs tighter than usual. He quickly covered it with a pillow, his face turning beet red, 'Shut the hell up, all boys are like this in the morning.'

Lucy put a paw up to her chin and nodded, 'Hmm sounds like you are embarrassed.'

Warren angrily got up and swatted at Lucy, the cat dodging away with ease. She laughed and dove under the bed.

"Warren?"

It was Citrus, a long yawn following her as she began to get up. She rubbed both her eyes and glanced at her brother. Warren still had the pillow pressed against his front. He tensed up and waved with one hand, "Uh, good morning Citrus..."

She looked around, "Good morning. Do you know what time it is?"

Warren's eyes widened and he looked at the small wood alarm clock on a small table. He clicked his tongue, the clock not working as he forgot to put Fey into the contraption.

The machines of this world needed to be filled with Fey every night for them to work for the day. Of course they were very simple things such as clocks, watering pipes that pull water, and valves.

The clock was made by a Mage specializing in time related magic. Once the clock was filled with Fey it would automatically go to the right time.

Warren waddled over and put his hand on the device, after a few seconds the hands on the clock moved.

It was 7:30, and the realization hit Warren like a horse. He had to leave at 8:00 today if he wanted to make it to the capital.

"Oh shit!" He rushed over to the closet and dug through piles of dirty shirts. He found a plain white one that was slightly wrinkled. Sadly, it would have to do.

He trudged over to get his boots. Lucy and Citrus watched in amus.e.m.e.nt.

"Why are you in such a rush?" Citrus asked.

Warren grabbed his leather pack from beside the door, "I'm going to the capital, Uncle Cruz gave me Border papers as a going away gift."

Citrus blinked, the words she heard taking a few seconds to register, "Oh crap the coach leaves at 8:30!"

Warren nodded, "Yeah I noticed, uh, can you toss me the ration cards under your pillow?"

Citrus reached under the pillow and pulled out the paper ration cards. With these he could get four free meals anywhere in the commoner district. He never needed them as he and his Father would hunt for food while his Mother farmed vegetables.

They would help him eat until he got his first mission. Warren hopped on one foot as he pulled his boots tight and tied the laces lazily.

Lucy trotted to the door and pushed it, opening it for Warren who rushed out of the room. Citrus watched him carefully, "Is he leaving now?!"

Lucy nodded and sauntered out of the door. Citrus hopped to her feet and chased after her brother. Warren barreled down the stairs, as he hit the bottom floor, his Father stood in front of him.

"You okay son?"

Warren nodded, "Yeah I just need to leave for the Capital, Uncle Cruz ga-"

He stopped as the aging face of his uncle peeked around the corner, "There he is!"

Cruz came over and patted him on the back, "I heard Citrus is in town, were is she?"

Citrus leaped down the stairs, coming to a stop at the edge of the step, she saw Cruz and immediately hugged him, "Hello Uncle."

Cruz grinned, "Look at ya, seems like you became a fine woman."

She nodded, "Now let's hope Warren becomes a fine man."

Warren growled, "Watch it."

Lucy hopped onto her Master's shoulder, waving at Cruz. Cruz oddly waved back, unsure of how to go about greeting the cat.

Warren waved them away, "Okay now I have to get going or I'll miss the coach."

Citrus stepped in front of him, "Slow down brother,"

She karate chopped him, "We haven't even given you your birthday present."

Warren stopped in his tracks. He had forgotten about what today was. It was August twenty-seventh, his birthday.

"Yeah kid, slow down or you might forget the most important thing."

Warren's mother walked out from the dining room, a leather vest and leather coat dr.a.p.ed over her arm. She also had a small sack that swung with force as she walked, just from the sound Warren could tell it was coins.

"Look at my boy, all grown up." She said through a happy expression. This would mark the second time she had sent one of her kids to the Mage Trials.

Alister laughed and pushed Warren forward, the new items from his Mother placed in his hands. Without a second to spare he put the vest on and wrapped the coat around his body.

He loved it, the warmth he felt something he rarely could experience. In a cruel way, this was his first time had celebrated his birthday more than once.

In his old life he would have simply bought a cake and eat it alone while watching scary movies. This however, topped that entirely.

Warren held back tears as the new addition to his outfit fit perfectly. Even when he was going to leave, he would still feel the warmth of his family.

"Now let's fill your bag with some extra clothes and get those papers." Alister walked up the stairs to Warren's room.

His mother handed Warren the sack of coins, "This is 20 silver and 3 gold." Warren's eyes widened. "don't go spend it in a day like your sister okay?"

Warren glanced at Citrus who blushed, "Haha sorry."

He put a fist up, "Trust me I won't, I actually have restraint."

Citrus winced as the blow hit her head on, Cruz cackling at the quick jab.

As they slowly got ready, Warren headed to the kitchen to grab some jerky. Citrus followed, "Hey Warren."

He turned back to her, "Yeah?" She had changed into her King Academy uniform, the gold and silver lining glowing with ominous energy. Her navy blue skirt fluttered as he looked back up.

Citrus sighed heavily, "There is something I need to tell you before you go." She swallowed hard and nervously looked around.

He motioned for Lucy to leave, the cat annoyingly hopping off his shoulder and trotting away.

They sat in silence.

Warren rolled his eyes, "Come on then, what is it? Is it that I stink?" He sniffed his armpit as a joke but actually gagged from the smell.

"No, I need to warn you." Her face went cold. "Every year before the Mage trials, the upperclassmen will hunt you down."

Warren rose an eyebrow, "What?"

Citrus sighed, "Listen closely, I'll only say this once. The day before the Mage Trials second years are tasked with hunting down and capturing one person who is taking the trial. It's like a test for them to continue being second years."

Warren cut her off, "That is stupid, why would they do that?"

Citrus put a hand up, "Let me finish, this isn't a game."

Warren nodded slowly, if she was this serious then it indeed was not a game. He did not get Isekaid into one after all.

"There is a reason for this, it is to both test the participants and an easy A for their first grade. What it's trying to teach you is that fighting alone is pointless. You need to find allies before then, if not you could be confronted by three second years."

Warren scoffed, "So if they just gang up on me I'm done for?"

Citrus shook her head, "No their are only three Second years in a group, they are only allowed to hunt in a trio."

Warren sat down on the counter, "How will they know I'm participating in the first place?"

Citrus pointed at her wrist, "When you get to High Castle you are going to be asked why you are coming. Once you say for the Mag trials the Guards with stamp you with a temporary Magic Seal for Mage Trials participants. The Second Years have been trained to sense those."

Warren swallowed hard, the thought of having to fight Mages already tantalizing. He looked at Citrus, "What happens if I'm caught?"

"You are disqualified from taking the Mage Trials and will be given enough rations to travel back safely." Citrus put a single finger up. "It's called the First Year Hunt, and some Second Years will do ANYTHING to get such an easy A."

She grimly smiled, "Especially the students at King Academy."

Warren choked down her words, staring down at his open palm. Was he strong enough to take on upperclassmen?

Citrus touched his hand, "All you have to do is find other people taking the Mage Trials and team up, it should be easy."

Warren took what she said lightly. In a simpler way, there was one thing that would make that difficult.

Warren was a complete and utter loner. He was home schooled, never left the forest or his house, rarely went into the village, and spent most of his time with Lucy or Citrus.

He knew exactly no one his age, and his "friend" was a black cat that was a former Goddess. He was not exactly socially normal. What would be say?

"Hey let's team up.", Warren thought to himself. He immediately dismissed saying that. This was not a corny T.V. Show, he would need to actually convince people.

Then he realized something. He may not have to look for people, but wait and let them look for him. He had yet to learn how to conceal his Soul Aura, so anyone could see how powerful he was with a glance. All he needed to do was make it clear he was an applicant for the Mage Trials.

Warren whistled and patted Citrus on the shoulder,"Thank you, I won't get pushed around by some upper classmen, so don't go tearing up on me."

Citrus quickly shot her hand up, tears streaming down her face. But why?, she thought to herself. Was it the fact that Warren was now dependable and had grown so fast, or...

Or the fact her heart ached to the point she could barley breathe. After a few seconds of realizing her hiccup of emotions, she wiped away the drying tears and punched Warren rather hard, "Shut up, you can't use my tears as a way to one up me asshole."

Warren grinned ear to ear like a monkey, " I know sis, just making sure you don't go soft."

As he said it, Lucy spoke up from within his mind.

'Will you two kiss already...'

Warren sent a barrage of nasty emotions toward the cat, Lucy shivering as she apologized to her Master, 'I was joking, I mean you guys are siblings hahaha.'

There was a long awkward pause, and Warren slowly retracted his hand and cleared his throat, "Well anyways it's about time I go, I can't be late after all."

"Exactly!" Warren's backpack came flying across the kitchen, the boy barley able to grasp it as the pack hit his head straight on. Alister laughed and came over to stand beside his daughter. As Warren scuffled about to get his bearing, he leaned over to Citrus, "So are you gonna give him his other gift or?"

Citrus had completely forgotten that she had prepared something for her idiotic brother. Warren angrily put his backpack on and trudged over to his dad, "If you weren't a Rank A Mage your face would be mush right now old man."

Alister rolled his eyes, Warren's uncle and Mother piling into the room. Lucy came trotting between their legs, a mischievous grin on her face. Warren glared at Lucy, the cat hoping on his shoulder. She ignored his gaze and nodded toward Citrus.

"Warren." She said as she grabbed a small wooden box from their Father. "Happy Birthday."

Warren slowly took the box from her hand, the waiting faces of his family making him anxious. He had no idea what they could of gotten him, especially after he had been given so much. Did he even deserve another gift...

He opened the latches and gazed upon its contents.

Within the box, a yellow crystal stared back at him. It had also been attached to a long silver chain, the necklace resting soundly on a red cushioned pillow. It was a Codex Crystal, the same thing that was placed on a silver ring around his sister's wrist. Although, hers was a shining ruby red, Warren's was amber and glistened like the sun. He pulled the necklace out and admired it. This had been the first time he had really seen one up close.

Warren never went to a Junior Academy like his sister, so he never really knew what his status was or how much Fey he had acc.u.mulated.

If he had remembered it correctly, his status from eleven years was this...
