If I had heard this when I first met Luc, I thought I would have definitely kept my distance.

Because my safety was much more important.

[Master?]

It wasn’t the same now.

Of course, distancing myself from Luc was something I had decided before I first met him.

But I couldn’t do that to the child who innocently came into my arms.

“It’s alright, Blackie.”

I spoke as if I was convincing myself.

Until the end of the original story, there was not a single line which revealed the male lead’s identity.

So it shouldn’t be a big deal.

If there was any issue, the original female lead whom we will meet later will take care of it on her own.

In the end, love solves everything in a romance novel.

And most of all.

“Nothing has happened yet.”

‘Mother already told you not to play with him! What are you going to do if you get a bad influence from playing with a child who has no parents?!’

He hasn’t done anything yet, but prejudice had already surrounded him.

I didn’t want to be someone who judges others like that.

“So I’ll continue to stay with him.”

[What if you regret it later?]

Blackie asked.

[Your husband may not be as good of a person as you think he is. Is it fine if you regret it later?]

“But nothing might happen.”

[…….]

“Luc could be a really bad person as you said. I might think it was a good idea to listen to you then. But if I avoid Luc now, one thing becomes clear.”

I was well aware that Blackie was truly worried about me.

Maybe this is just my stubbornness.

“I will regret it every second from that day on.”

Blackie saw the vision unfolding before his eyes.

An endless plain with no living creatures.

The smell of blood carried by the wind.

It was after the war.

The woman in front of him tightly embraced something wrapped in cloth.

It looked like a living creature, judging by the way it wriggled in the woman’s arms.

It was hard to see what it was since it was covered in cloth.

[I’m against it. We have to kill him right now.]

The woman in front of him said in response to his words.

“But he hasn’t done anything wrong yet.”

[Just because he hasn’t done anything doesn’t mean that the original sin he was born with disappears.]

“He looks so cold-hearted when I looked at him.”

The woman in front of him laughed.

But it wasn’t long before she coughed up a handful of blood.

[Is it the time to laugh now? You will die soon, and that will be the knife that stabs you.]

“I know. I know…”

She said, carefully touching the thing in her arms with her fingers.

“He’s so lovely. How can I simply kill him?”

Then Blackie returned to the inn, not the plains.

‘What?’

He looked around vigilantly.

What did he just see?

‘Was it a memory of the past?’

But a thousand years ago, no one had ever signed a contract with him before he was sealed…

‘No. Wait a minute. Did I have a contractor?’

He must have had at least one contractor.

But no one came to mind.

As if someone had cut out the part entirely.

Only then did he think of the first question he should have had.

‘Why was I sealed in the Valfruga castle?’

After hearing what Blackie said, I often checked Luc’s shadow but didn’t notice anything strange.

A peaceful time passed by with reading fairy tales and taking naps with Luc from time to time.

In the meantime, the carriage finally arrived at the Count of Rothrun’s castle.

Thanks to the letter sent in advance, Countess Rothrun came out to greet us.

I got off the carriage and greeted her with courtesy.

“Thank you for the invitation……”

Before I could finish my sentence, the Countess ignored me and turned towards Luc.

“A pleasure to meet you, Duke Valfruga. I heard that your business is doing well these days, isn’t it? I’m also quite interested.”

……What’s this?

I couldn’t hide my bewildered expression as I looked back at her.

Luc looked at her with a stoic expression when she ignored me.

I spoke to her again.

“I’m in charge of the hair loss medicine business, so it would be more convenient to converse with me rather than the Duke.”

Then, the countess glanced at me with a disgusted expression, as though she had seen an insect before turning her head away.

It was an attitude that was determined to ignore me.

Wow……

As expected. Although Treon bought the carriage because I needed one, he was afraid that I would be ignored even further without it.

It doesn’t seem to have worked at all.

“You must have been tired from the long journey, Duke. So, let’s head inside.”

“My wife is also with me.”

Luc said, holding my hand tightly.

I could feel from his low voice that he was trying to suppress his anger.

The countess looked at me with a look of irritation.

Perhaps she had finally decided to deal with me first.

She looked down at me, fanning her fan.

“Oh. You were there too? I see…did you say your name was Felia Foldvich?”

“That was my maiden name, and now it’s Felia Valfruga.”

“That is yet to be confirmed. They say marriage before adulthood often ends up in separation.”

The Countess drove a wedge with her smile as if she had no intention of changing her mind.

“Isn’t that right, Miss Foldvich?”

How persistent of her to even research my maiden name just to make things difficult for me.

So you mean to emphasise that I was not born from a royal family, but a commoner who came from an orphanage?

When Luc grows up through the year, he was treated as the noble Duke of Valfruga with royal blood.

Even if I was a commoner before marriage, I was a Duchess the moment I married Luc.

I’ll put up with it if she was just ignoring me, but it made me angry that she was acting like this as a form of ignoring the Valfruga.

If the Valfruga has as much power as the other great dukes, would she have been able to behave this way?

“Felia is the undisputed Duchess. Show your respect, Countess.”

“I apologise, Duke. The Rothrun County have their own laws.”

She retorted.

When Luc tried to argue again, I held Luc’s shoulder firmly and calmed him down.

There was no need to fight here.

For now, we have to go inside the castle.

That way we can get information about Logan.

It was even more absurd after we entered the castle.

Unlike Luc’s room, which was prepared naturally, my room was not even properly arranged.

“What do you mean the room isn’t ready?! We were invited officially!”

Bella, the maid who followed along, grabbed the maid who guided us here and questioned.

“Only the D-Duke was invited…the Duchess……”

“When we accepted the invitation, we made it clear that the Duchess was coming too!”

“I-I wasn’t informed…”

“Then where should the madam sleep right now?”

“T-That…”

The maid glanced at us and said.

“Maybe she can sleep with the maid she brought along……”

“Do you think that makes sense now? Making the madam sleep with her maids?”

“I, I’m sorry!”

The maid was completely overwhelmed by Bella’s pressure.

Holding onto the maid and questioning her wouldn’t solve anything.

Because it was the countess who ordered this in the first place.

It was to be expected since this was a family that discriminates against commoners, seeing how they even imprisoned their youngest brother when he said he was going to marry a maid.

“It’s alright, Bella. What’s the point of restraining the maid when the master ordered it? Just let her go.”

At my words, the maid bowed her head and quickly ran away from Bella.

“But madam……!”

“Then, sleep in my room sister. I’ll sleep with the knights.”

Luc said, holding my hand tightly.

“Are you being considerate of me?”

Luc nodded.

Aw, my puppy is the best.

“It’s alright. I’m not going to stay here for long anyway. One night is fine.”

Nevertheless, I will remember this moment for sure.

“But I feel uncomfortable. Sister, sleep in my room, okay?”

“I feel uncomfortable if you sleep with the knights, Luc.”

“Then we can sleep together, right?”

“Yes?”

“Sleep with me, sister.”

“Right, madam! For now, just sleep with the duke tonight!”

Hey, why did the situation head that way?

“Then, shall we sleep together, sister?”

“A, Alright.”

I said yes by accident.

It seems like it’s been a while since I’ve slept with Luc…

“But sister, do we have to sleep here? Can’t we just go somewhere else?”

“Right, madam! Just sleep at the inn! There’s no need to stay here in the first place! This castle is worse than ours. That door looks like it was made by a sculptor whom no one has ever heard of before!”

I tried to calm down the frantic Bella.

“I’d love to, but there is something I need to find out in this house so I have to stay here for the time being. That’s why, Luc, don’t get angry on my behalf and just please um…”

Please cooperate?

I don’t think that’s a word for children.

“Hmm…Can you be patient?”

“But I hate it. How can I stay calm when she’s being mean to sister?”

Luc said stubbornly.

“Sometimes getting angry straight away isn’t the only answer, Luc.”

“Then?”

“There is another method which is to endure now and pay back later in order to achieve your goal. There is an old saying that revenge is never too late even after 10 years.”

Then with a devilish smile, Luc nodded with realisation.

“So you’re saying that I can avenge sister and stab her in the back later, right?”

“Well, yes.”

Something seems a little off, but it worked out didn’t it?

What if something terrible happens because of this?

Then I think I really had just set a bomb off in this house.
