Episode 36

Even then, Logan was busy thinking about proving Felia wrong.

And the moment Lucius’ sword moved, five swords attacked Logan at once.

It was not close enough to reach him, but the pressure of the sword forced Logan to take two steps back before he realised.

Logan was too stunned to say anything, and could only stare at Luc.

“You…How did you do that……”

Despite Logan’s reaction, Lucius replied with a calm expression, void of any surprise or joy that children would normally show.

“You showed how to do it. So I did it.”

“…….”

Logan was called a genius.

But even Logan could have never imagined such an event.

“Ha! This is kind of fun.”

Logan licked his lips and smiled.

“But there is still a long way to go, kid. It’s futile if your sword’s presence is too strong. By then, your opponent will instinctively dodge your sword.”

Logan’s sword moved slowly.

It was as natural as the wind breeze, and as still as the dew that forms on the grass.

“Don’t release your energy everywhere, and you should be able to move the way that you wish. Also,”

Logan’s sword pointed to Lucius’ wrist and waist.

“There was too much movement. Unnecessary movements will only slow you down.”

Logan grinned as he slung his sword over his shoulder.

“My training is a bit tough, but are you prepared to keep up?”

“Of course.”

Lucius thought of his only family.

If he wanted to protect her, then he needed the strength to do so.

Logan rested on his chin and looked at Lucius, who had been swinging his sword in the same position for three hours already.

It wasn’t intentional, but he’s his first student anyway.

He’d be lying if he said he didn’t care.

To be honest, Lucius was a great student.

Genius talent, constant effort, and diligence without saying anything no matter what he’s told to do.

But Logan was dissatisfied.

‘I heard he’s 10 years old. Were all kids of that age normally like that?’

When he was 10 years old, he would constantly think about how to skip classes and even as a teacher today, he kept being distracted thinking about his first love.

What Lucius would say was one of three things; ‘Yes’, ‘Got it’, or ‘I’m done’.

‘I also kind of want to chat casually with my student, or joke around with him……’

Looking at that expressionless face while wielding the sword, it was difficult to chat casually.

He felt like if he talked to him, he wouldn’t answer and would only ignore him.

In the end, Logan decided to talk about Felia, which was the easiest topic.

“You, uh, how are you with the duchess?”

Logan spoke awkwardly.

“Fine. But, why are you interested in her?”

Fortunately, the topic was important to him, so he was not immediately ignored.

Instead, Lucius turned his sword with a grim face, becoming wary of Logan.

‘Anyway, how did this guy spend his childhood? His life is so gloomy.’

His swordsmanship was still inferior to Logan’s, but the current Lucius even made Logan break into a cold sweat.

“No, listen. If you’re upset because you argued with your wife, then you wouldn’t be able to train well. Since I’m your teacher, I have to be concerned, okay?”

“…….”

“Right, so it’s important that you guys are alright. Just give her some presents once in a while. Even if she pretends she’s fine, anyone would be happy to receive a gift.”

The atmosphere turned awkward.

Logan tried to end the topic, regretting that he had even spoken to him for no reason.

But suddenly, Luc opened his mouth.

“Will she be happy to receive a present?”

“Of course. There’s no one who doesn’t like receiving gifts.”

Lucius pondered over it.

He didn’t feel good receiving items occasionally from his father or mother, but he was really happy when he received a gift from Felia.

Of course, as long as it was Felia who gave it, he would happily accept it even if it was trash.

Then, would Felia accept his gift so happily?

He had thought the guy was a bit of an idiot apart from his swordsmanship, but he actually taught him something useful after a while.

For a few days, Lucuis’ mind was filled with thoughts about the gift for Felia.

‘What should I give sister to make her happy?’

Felia likes shiny gold coins and jewels.

She likes thick soup with lots of meat and vegetables, and she also likes strong brewed black tea.

She likes pens that write smoothly and fluffy pillows with lots of cotton.

Felia didn’t tell him directly, but he noticed that much while living together.

When the warm soup appeared, she emptied the bowl, and when something like baked potatoes appeared, there would be a lot of food left on the plate.

He knew so much about what Felia liked, but it comes to giving them as a gift, he didn’t really prefer them.

‘I want sister to receive it with joy.’

In the first place, it was normally difficult to think of a gift for someone

Lucius wandered all over the castle.

Then at that moment, he saw the flowers that bloomed brightly in the spring.

The pink flowers blooming under the blue sky were so pretty that they instantly caught Lucius’ attention.

Somehow, it reminded him of Felia’s hair blowing in the wind.

Come to think of it, in the books, everyone who received flowers seemed happy.

Having finally decided on the gift, Lucius squatted on the flower bed and carefully plucked the flowers to avoid damaging the buds.

He discarded anything that was eaten by bugs or ones he didn’t like the shape of and was somehow proud at the sight of the bouquet made of pretty flowers.

Lucius took the bouquet and headed straight to the office.

When he knocked on the door, he heard Felia’s voice saying ‘come in’ from inside.

Peeking his head through the crack of the slightly opened door, Felia, who met his eyes, smiled at him.

“What’s the matter, Luc?”

“Are you very busy now?”

“No! Not at all!”

Felia said firmly, putting down the thick documents she was reading.

As always, Felia welcomed him wherever he visited.

“I came because I wanted to give something to sister.”

“What is it?”

Felia rose from her chair and approached him.

Lucius held out the bouquet of flowers hidden behind his back.

“It’s a gift.”

Felia was surprised, as if she had never expected it at all, and soon smiled brightly.

“The flowers are so pretty. Thank you, Luc.”

Her eyes sparkled like stars.

She placed her face on the bouquet, smelled it, and grazed the flowers as though she was touching something precious.

The moment he saw her joyful face, he felt like warm water was filling the empty bottle in his heart.

He wanted to see more of that expression.

He wanted sister to be even happier.

The more good things there are, the better, so shouldn’t he give her more flowers?

“Sister!”

When I turned around at Luc’s voice, I became startled.

No, he had been fine since this morning, but what happened?

There was a puppy filled with dirt running down the hallway.

The adorable face was messed with dirt, and his clothes, which were fine this morning, were tattered.

As I was speechless at his sight, Luc ran to me with a bright smile.

While holding so many flowers in his hands he struggled to carry.

Even without directly looking, I could tell that the place where those flowers bloomed must be in ruins.

“Oh my god, Luc. What happened to your face?”

I asked while wiping Luc’s smudged cheeks, and Luc replied triumphantly.

“Since sister seemed to like the flowers, I plucked a lot of them.”

Staring at me with sparkling eyes, it was like seeing a puppy with his toy and asking for praise.

Firstly, I expressed my gratitude sincerely as I received the flowers Luc handed me.

Then I spoke carefully to not hurt Luc’s heart, who gave me this gift while thinking of me.

“But Luc, you don’t have to pluck so much next time. We have to protect nature.”

“Why?”

“…Because nature is precious?”

Speaking of which, environmental pollution wasn’t even an issue in this world, so does that mean it would be fine to cut some flowers and trees?

“Nothing in the world is more precious than sister, so it’s okay.”

Luc replied frankly.

“But you’re happier than when you received it last time, right? Then, I’ll do it more often in the future.”

Then, a servant hurriedly approached from afar.

“Madam! A guest has arrived!”

“Guest?”

I don’t think I’ve promised anyone……Ah.

‘They’re finally here.’

Resoluted, I hugged the bouquet in my arms.

When I went to the drawing-room, a pair of men and women welcomed me.

They were collateral of the Valfruga family, Luc’s uncle and aunt.

‘I thought they would resemble Luc a little since they were a relative.’

Unlike Luc, who has dark black hair and red eyes, they two had faded blonde hair and green eyes.

Both were well-groomed and attractive but were no match for Luc’s inhumane beauty.

If it wasn’t for Treon’s confirmation, it was hard to believe that they were blood-related.

‘The male was Blant, so the female must be Catherine.’

Among them, I was more concerned about the younger sister, Catherine.

Catherine Valfruga, now married to the neighbouring Viscount Schtrim and became Catherine Schtrim, was the most successful member of the Valfruga family at the time.

There was only one reason.

This was because Viscount Schtrim was the richest aristocratic family in the vicinity, including the Duke of Valfruga.

There was a lake connected to the sea near Viscount Schtrim’s estate, where Lecallanda fishes lived, which was popular with the capital’s nobles for its rich taste.

Thanks to this, Viscount Schtrim was able to become the richest man in the neighbourhood.

‘But right now, we were the best!’

I didn’t know much about military power or anything else, but I didn’t envy Viscount Schtrim’s wealth anymore.

Even now, thinking of the gold coins that were gradually accumulating and the upcoming incomes, we could order chicken and grill Korean beef.

When I showed up, they stood up and welcomed me excessively.
