The Maniacal General With His Crazy System

Chapter 21 - Hey hey, do you see me, I'm right here!

It didn't take long before dishes came rushing towards the table where Averill and Laura were sitting on. Laura began eating like a hungry wolf whereas Averill took his time to eat slowly to enjoy it.

For some unknown reason, no one was gazing at Averill and Laura in the restaurant, almost like they didn't exist. This was one of the pseudo spells Averill created with the Magical Powers he had gotten recently; he was using his Magical Powers to make it so that they wouldn't perceive the two of them.

Time passed by and the empty platters were stacking up on their table. Only after having eaten ten platters of food did Laura slow down on her eating pace, she then began observing Averill whilst continuing to eat. Only after a minute did Laura ask in a low tone. "What are your goals?" Laura knew it; there are no free food in this world.

Averill gave Laura a glance filled with disdain as he smiled; his smile was mocking her for being stupid. "Do you honestly think I need something from you?" When Averill said this, he could see that Laura became dumb-founded for a small moment, he continued speaking in a mocking tone. "Let's just leave it that I'm just curious of you. There must be a reason why it is 'you', and I want to find out why. Nothing else and nothing more."

Laura felt a complex emotion when she heard Averill say that, but her complex emotions vanished as she had a strong will. As long as she survived and lived freely, she wouldn't care much. And this 'freedom' she had with Averill was much better than with the people in the laboratory.

The moment Averill finished talking, he turned his head towards the window and smiled, his mocking smile turned into a grinning smile as his teeth showed and his eyes turned sharper than swords! Averill had barely managed to control himself from releasing his aura and crush everything, but they hadn't provoked him yet, yet…!

A few kilometres away, a person was standing on a building as he looked through a sniper scope at a restaurant, he was looking at a man and woman sitting there and eating. But the moment the man turned his head towards his direction and smiled like a devil; his body froze, he felt death standing right behind him and aiming his scythe at his neck. He hurriedly looked away, and as sudden the pressure of death arrived, it vanished as quickly…

Averill didn't bother glancing around any longer, but he could sense people gazing at him and Laura. He only sent them a 'small' warning, he knew that it wouldn't work to make them realize to back off, as they would only send in more soldiers or warriors to defeat him. But that is what Averill wanted, he wanted all of them to attack him at once, it would save the trouble of them coming one after the other.

[Host, does Host remember the Infinity Stone Host touched?] The System asked out of the blue.

'… I do' Averill replied as he raised an eyebrow, he didn't know why that stone was important. Even if someone could see the future, it wouldn't do any good if all their outcomes are death.

[The Infinity Stone has been taken by an Asgardian God and is currently being used to create a teleportation circle to Earth from the universe. And, I have noticed other beings aiming their gazes on Earth for the other Infinity Stones.] The System didn't wait for Averill to ask why it was telling Averill this before continuing to speak. [The Infinity Stone Host used was not able to work perfectly because Host is not part of the Universe. But if someone else collects the Infinity Stones; that person could harm Host or at least banish Host from this Universe.]

Averill went silent for a few moments before a mocking smile appeared on his face. 'What does this have to do with me? So what if an alien tries to destroy this earth, so what if someone rules this Universe. I don't care if they slaughter the entire universe. Do not bother me with useless information in the future, I will only act if someone bothers me, is that understood?' Averill's tone went slightly deeper than usual towards the ending.

It had nothing to do with him if people died, Averill didn't know why, but he simply didn't have any empathy for other humans or beings. For him, they were all the same, a thing that didn't need to be regarded. "… They are all worthless…" Averill whispered under his breath before shaking his head.

"What did you say?" Laura asked as she heard something, but she couldn't hear the words he said.

Averill shook his head once again before gazing into Laura's eyes. "Nothing much. But you might want to know, the people who hunted you earlier are coming back sooner than later. And not only them, other parties are getting involved too, aren't you happy being this popular?" Averill couldn't but smiling even brighter the more he spoke to Laura.

When Laura heard this, she couldn't help but stand up hastily and her claws sprung out from the back of her hands. She gazed out of the restaurant with a heavy expression.

It was then Laura heard a voice not far from her. "Don't worry about them, just sit down and relax. I will deal with them if they are bothering me. Just make sure that you aren't bothering me till then, act nice, so sit down." The tone Laura heard was slightly deeper and colder than the usual mocking tone she heard from Averill, so she couldn't do anything else than to sit back down on the chair.

Laura felt like she had transformed from a tigress to a small cat when Averill was nearby. Her claws had soaked in blood and killed many men and women, but she would turn meek whenever Averill spoke. Laura couldn't help it though, she was no match for Averill in any way, a looming sensation of death could be felt from Averill whenever he spoke of people who would bother him.
