The Maniacal General With His Crazy System

Chapter 24 - Time for punishment!?

"What do you mean by that?" Laura's head was lowered slightly as she asked in a rather cold tone. Since the moment she could remember, Laura had been told that she was made as an experiment and her only reason to live was to kill someone. Laura hadn't thought of it till now, but if what Averill said was true, then her own life was meaningless.

The weird smile on Averill's face warped into a teasing smile as he spoke. "You heard me, and you understood what I said too. Now the real questions are; is it true or false? Is that man; Wolverine your father or not?" Averill suppressed himself from laughing out loud as he continued speaking. "But you also know that you have no reason to not trust me as I don't care about lying."

Laura slowly raised her head and gazed at Averill who was standing near the window, still gazing out of the window. "You don't need to explain yourself, there is no need for that." Laura shook her head slightly. "You think you are the only one who has been observing others these past few days? I have been observing you for the past two weeks, I may not be smart, but I am far from stupid…!" Laura's voice turned slightly colder than usual.

"You are doing everything possible to find ways to make me react. Why are you doing that, what is so important for you to figure out about me?" This time, Laura spoke slower than usual, she wanted to know why Averill was interested in her. She didn't doubt that Averill would have already killed her if she had no value to him. After Laura spoke, her body tensed up, she was ready to fight if Averill tried to kill her.

When Averill heard her say that, he couldn't help but to grin. He turned around slowly towards Laura, he gazed at her with his sharp eyes and the grin on his face which seemed to mock her. "Indeed, your life is pointless to me, if I wanted to, I would have killed you. But that wasn't the reason I came here to meet you, the reason I came here to find you is to understand myself. If I am able to better understand myself, then I would be a step closer of finding what I'm missing."

Averill continued to speak without letting Laura intervene. "You may be wondering about what I might be missing. Truly, I am wondering about it too. What am I missing, perhaps certain emotions, maybe a sensation, or just a tool for me to wield? For the current me, all these are meaningless and pointless, yet that doesn't mean that they are not worth my time in getting them, or at least finding information about it. And till now, you are my only clue. Because for some reason, my soul and your soul are reacting to each other." Averill's tone was rather calm yet hiding beneath the calm tone was some emotions he couldn't truly understand.

Laura went quiet the second she heard Averill say that, she wondered too, what could a powerful man like Averill be missing or wanting. She didn't feel troubled, angry or afraid when she heard Averill mention that their souls had reacted to each other, for some reason she felt calm about it. The calmness Laura felt from this was something she had never felt before in her life, not in the laboratory nor when knowing that she had a father.

After a whole minute passed by in silence, Laura asked. "What are you going to do?" She had sensed it, that Averill was barely being able to control himself whilst gazing outside of the window. Laura knew that a battle would appear sooner than later, and in that battle, Averill would flood the area with blood.

Averill's fingers began twitching as he silently turned towards the window once again, he didn't answer Laura for a few seconds before ultimately replying her in a tone that was filled with delight and expectation. "Everyone is finally moving around on the table, all of them are showing their worth and preparations. How can I be so mean to destroy their planning before it has even begun? I will continue to wait for them to come with their full force…!"

But when Averill finished speaking, he gazed upwards towards the stars, he narrowed his eyes slightly as he gazed through the universe. He managed to see an army coming towards Earth, and beyond that, he could see a couple entities waiting in the shadows. When Averill saw the entities, his eyes locked on one of them, a bird like entity made out of flames. 'Good good, seems like I do not need to hunt you down… You're worried of something, but what are you worried of?' Averill used his Magical Powers to see through the entity before finding something.

'You have a link with someone on Earth, that is why you are coming to Earth, to protect your precious host of your powers. Ahahahaha!' Averill laughed deeply in his own heart as he figured out that the entities in this universe could put their powers in a host. Averill then gazed at the other entities to check if they had a host or not, and all but one of them had a host, and most of them were also staying on Earth or coming to Earth.

"This is great…!" Averill mumbled as he continued to supress his aura and d.e.s.i.r.e to kill everyone in his sight.

[Host, a new mission has appeared. The title of the mission is; Protect Laura's life during the war. Does Host want to accept or decline the mission?] The System asked in its regular monotone voice.

"I refuse taking the mission." Averill said it in a deep tone without thinking twice of it. He didn't care about protecting others because of a mission.

[Understood Host, then a new mission has appeared. The title of the mission is; Destroy this Universe. Does Host want to accept or decline the mission?] The System asked once again after creating another mission for Averill.

Averill raised an eyebrow before narrowing his eyes as his voice sounded out in the room. "That I accept." A weird smile appeared on his face.

[Mission; Destroy this Universe has been accepted. The Reward for completing this mission is; Universal Force. The Punishment for not being able to complete the mission is; Host will lose one eye.]

'Tell me more about the Universal Force.' Averill asked the System, he didn't care about the punishment of not being able to clear the mission. He had not lost his reasoning because of his strength or was too arrogant, he was simply confident in himself in being able to destroy this universe. His strength had increased after learning about his Magical Powers, and he could sense his physical strength increasing for every second he was alive.
