The Maniacal General With His Crazy System

Chapter 42 - Cats gazing at a mouse

"Hey Averill, this place is really awesome! There are a bunch of rooms and all of them are filled with stuff too!" Saitama was rather excited about living in the mansion, it was something he couldn't imagine before meeting Averill.

Averill only smiled in return of Saitama's excitement, he was deeply amused and had complex feelings of how such a strong person could be this simpleminded. Averill then turned his gaze towards Laura, and he could see behind her cold façade, that she was also liking their new housing.

"We can at least stay comfortable for a good while before interesting things will be happening. I've met with a clown named Jack Napier …" Averill then began explaining his small encounter with Jack and he told them briefly that they would act when certain signs are aligning in the city.

"Huh…" Saitama had a rather serious expression on his face after hearing everything, he turned his gaze towards Averill.

Both Averill and Laura felt that it was weird for someone like Saitama to even act serious. And they were quite right because Saitama was Saitama after all in their minds.

"Do you think that the Jack, the clown, can juggle?" And Saitama asked this in a serious tone.

Averill raised a single eyebrow as he returned the gaze back to Saitama, but Averill's gaze was much sharper than Saitama's. "… You want to see someone juggling?" A soothing voice couldn't be heard in the room, only a sharp and cold voice, which came out of Averill's mouth.

"Of course! It has always been my dream to watch a circus, juggling clowns is one of the things I've always wanted to see." Saitama didn't back down either as he stared back into Averill's eyes.

Laura couldn't help but to place her head in her palm, she was dumbfounded by how much of a simpleton Saitama was, and what could excite him were only basic things. Even whilst having lived in a laboratory, Laura wasn't someone that would look for juggling clowns, she had to prioritize other things, unlike Saitama who seemed to be obsessed with it.

"…" Averill kept quiet for a while, but it wasn't because he didn't have a response, it was only that his eyes narrowed for every millisecond and his sharp eyes were fiercely gazing at Saitama. Only after three seconds did Averill's lips part ways as his voice sounded out in the room. "I can also juggle, let me cut off your four limbs and use them to juggle in the air…!"

"Hahahah!" Saitama laughed as he replied in an energized tone. "You're so funny, Averill. I didn't know that you could really juggle, is that really true?!" Even whilst feeling the fierce gaze from Averill, Saitama thought that Averill was only joking because he thought that Averill was also trying to learn how to joke around and have fun.

Averill's fingers began twitching slightly whilst gazing at the laughing Saitama.

But it was then that Averill, Laura and Saitama all turned their heads towards the same direction, towards where the backdoor was placed at.

"Are we meant to have visitors today?" Saitama tilted his head slightly to the side as he asked in a low voice.

"How stupid can you be? We have barely been in this world for an hour and we're getting visitors that is coming through the backdoor? Obviously someone wants to break into the mansion the steal the stuff here." Laura couldn't help but to rebuke Saitama rather loudly as she was really annoyed with how idiotic Saitama was at times.

"Ah!? Someone is daring to steal from our house!?" Saitama reacted and stood up at once in shock.

Laura wanted to laugh and cry in despair at the same time due to how Saitama reacted. They kicked out the owners of the house not even an hour ago, and now Saitama was treating this mansion as his house that he grew up in since he was a kid. The only thing Laura wanted now was enough strength to beat up Saitama so much that his head would work properly!

"It's a thief of course, and that thief most likely has something that they want to steal." Averill replied, his fingers had stopped twitching, yet his eyes were still cold and sharp as ever due to the irritation he got because of Saitama earlier. "We'll follow along and see what's so important. The thief is either good or a moron as this place had dozens of motion sensors and alarms in each room before I ruined them."

Averill, and even Saitama and Laura could easily perceive the entire mansion if they wanted to and find every secret which is in it. But Averill wanted to know why someone came here to steal, it should at least be interesting and important. And perhaps, it could also tell him more about this world and what people are after.

Then the three of them suddenly vanished as they observed the thief that was entering the mansion without making a single sound.
