The Maniacal General With His Crazy System

Chapter 65 - You are mistaken!

Whilst many things were unfolding on Earth and throughout the Universe, Averill didn't care too much about it. He knew what most of them were planning, but all of their plans were faulted due to one thing. All led back to if they had strength and power enough to defeat himself.

Inside of the Manor that Averill, Laura, Saitama and Harleen were living in, Averill was sitting on a chair, calmly gazing outside the window. His pupils were swiftly going from one spot to another, almost like he was gazing at different people very far away.

Averill had focused on many things since he had been resurrected by the System of Unyielding, but there was also a lot of things that he had completely ignored. He might not have shown it, but Averill had used all of his waking moment in stimulating his brain into shadow fighting against enemies as strong as himself.

No matter how long Averill was doing that, he wouldn't get exhausted, rather than that, he would feel refreshed and stronger for every passing second added on him passively getting stronger too. 'How about a break?' That thought appeared in Averill's mind for only a millisecond before it vanished into dust, like a human stepping on an ant, crushing it without any chance of survival.

'Not yet. I am still far from being prepared. I will not measure my own strength against those who lives in this Universe, I'm aiming for a much larger target…! After knowing of such unique universes and creators, I will not stop till they are all dead beneath me! They will answer the hatred inside of me that I can't seem to understand…' Averill wasn't bothered by the deeply integrated hatred of his for others, but he would release that hatred to the ones that are responsible.

It wasn't like that Averill didn't have a plan for that yet, but he also knew, it would be a long time till he'd be strong enough to confidently face all of them without losing his life.

Averill's thoughts quickly got interrupted when he saw something interesting happening somewhere far away on Earth… He saw inside of a laboratory with soldiers guarding the area around, and inside of the laboratory, he saw a human being turning into a giant of a human being with enforced muscles.

A grin slowly crept up on Averill's face. "It seems like they are still underestimating us…" Averill whispered in a soothing voice to himself.

"Eh, who is underestimating us?" Harleen appeared in the room like a ghost, she quickly placed a chair near Averill and sat by his side. Harleen had a unique fondness to gaze at Averill's face, the reason for that was because almost all of Averill's expression was fully managed by himself. Yet Harleen was able to rarely see expression popping up on Averill's face that he hadn't plan to show, which made it extremely interesting for her to continue observing him.

Averill gave a short glance at Harleen before answering. "The humans are."

Harleen furrowed her eyebrows slightly as she noticed something. "Why do you say 'humans' as they are something you aren't? Are you perhaps not human?"

"…" Averill didn't hesitate before nodding and shaking his head afterwards without it being confusing. "The reason I call people; humans, is because that is what they are. And regarding your question, I am not a human being any longer, but I see myself as a human being due to how I look."

It didn't matter for Averill if he was a Human Being, Divine Being or a God in that sense. Because he knew one thing, no matter what he was or what others were, they had similar traits as their body and one more thing; death always came in the end for everyone. May it be due natural reasons or by getting killed, everything had an end, and that was the reason why Averill never bothered himself by looking down on others due to others race.

Harleen went silent for a moment as she tried to fully understand what Averill meant. 'This is too weird.' Harleen thought it was weird for someone like Averill to not feel superior to him being something close to a God or something like that. 'Wait… The scene I watched about Averill's last moments in his previous life showed clearly one thing; he was either acting by himself or a leader for something bigger and greater.'

Inside of Harleen's mind, she was building up a puzzle made out of stuff she knew about Averill, and the rest was dark due to her not knowing or lack of information. It barely took Harleen half a minute before she came to a conclusion, her eyes went open as she gazed at Averill's face as he was gazing outside the window with his usual weird smile.

"Hey Averill, do you think you were someone that was leading others in your past life? You have an inbuilt charisma that doesn't lose to Superman even whilst the two of you have different personalities. And not enough with that, your mind work likes a machine, doesn't it? You aren't planning step by step, but dozens of steps at once. You place everything under your control, and if it isn't, then you must have deemed it is not worthy enough of your time." Harleen picked a few pieces of the puzzle and connected a few of them together.

How else would someone like Saitama who clearly had a different personality than Averill and very strong himself, be willing to follow someone else? Why would the craziest man on the planet; Joker, accept following orders from someone else? And why would Laura, a person who didn't have any experience with people, stick so closely with Averill like glue and follow all of his orders to the dot?

The more Harleen thought about it, the more she felt drawn in wanting to find more about Averill. She also felt something welling up inside of her, something that she wanted to release for everyone to see. Harleen was able to quickly figure out what she was feeling inside of her, it was; l.u.s.t. Harleen was yearning to slowly find more things about Averill as she was by his side at all times…

"I do not know the answer to your question, Harleen." Averill shook his head without even peeking a gaze towards Harleen as he continued to speak in his own pace with a soothing tone. "I may have the characteristics that you spoke of, but that doesn't mean that I was a leader of some group. Yet, I will not deny the possibility of that being true either. But that isn't something I am focusing on finding out right now as it doesn't change what is going to happen in the future."

Harleen jumped out of her chair and quickly went to Averill before placing her hands on his shoulders as she stared into his sharp red eyes. "You are mistaken!" Harleen's voice was rather loud and oppressive which made Averill put his gaze on her. But Harleen wasn't done speaking yet. "You are mistaken, Averill! It is important to find about your past; how else would you really know who you are? Don't think you can abandon your past because you aren't able to full remember it yet! As you have said so yourself, your body and your mind does thing in a specific way or has a dislike to other stuff, that means a lot! You can't just look aside from those things!" Harleen was about to yell, she wouldn't allow Averill to stop his search for his past.

The reason for Harleen's heavy objection was because she knew one thing for sure. Those who abandoned their past which they couldn't remember would never be able to fully recover as capable person no matter how much they tried. It would break them down slowly but surely, and Harleen wouldn't allow that to happen with Averill.
