I stuck my hand into the bag and rummaged around for the ID card. I couldn't feel anything in the bag but when I thought about the card, it was suddenly in my hand. I pulled it out and stared at the bag. Did I just need to think about what I wanted to take out while my hand was inside?

I stuck my hand back in and thought about the sword. Immediately, I felt the sword hilt in my hand, though there was no weight to it. I pulled it out of the bag and as soon as the tip of the scabbard cleared the bag, I dropped it as it was suddenly heavy. Seems like weight doesn't matter in the bag. Good to know.

I put the sword back and picked up the wooden card I had dropped on the grass. Turning it over, I saw something that surprised me. The letters on the card were English letters. It seems I wouldn't need to learn a new language. The ID card had four different fields: name, age, profession, and level.

It seems God decided to let me keep my identity from Earth. I guess that makes sense. Anyway, the ID card was very easy to understand. it was shown as such:

ID CARD

Name: Lucifer Arnova

Age: 22

Profession: Wanderer

Level: 4

I was momentarily confused by the profession field, but then I realized that it probably generalized whatever it is that you do as a job, even if it isn't strictly an actual job.

I stuck the ID card back in the bag, and after getting the straps to sit comfortably, I headed straight for the town gates.

After nearly twenty minutes, I finally reached the gates of the town. There were guards standing guard right outside the gate. as I walked up to them, they crossed their spears and one of them asked if I had any form of ID on me. I took out the card from my bag and passed it over to the guard who had spoken.

He went into the guard house and a few minutes later returned with my card.

As I took my ID card back from him, I started talking to him. "I'm sorry if I'm bothering you, but I'm not from around here. Do you know any inns that are clean and cheap? I'm looking for a place to stay." [Lucifer]

The other guard chuckled a bit and responded instead of the one who gave me back my card. "If you are looking for an inn to stay at, I know just the place. I'll be right back." [Guard #2]

He then ran into the guardhouse and a moment later came back with a map of the city and a small piece of parchment. On it was a recommendation from him to the innkeeper.

"I'm Fendal, the captain of the guards in this here town. Give this to Marielle, the innkeeper of Long Road Inn, and she will definitely try to accommodate you." [Fendal]

After looking at me a moment more he said, "I don't know why, but I can tell you are thinking of registering as an adventurer. I have a hunch you will succeed as one, so come see me if you need help with anything. Just ask for me at the central guardhouse. Also, enjoy your time here in Desil." [Fendal]

I was somewhat surprised at the kindness he showed me as I walked through the gate into the town of Desil.

Following the map, I walked down the main road for a while. After reaching the third right turn, I took a right turn onto a street filled with food carts and the smell of cooked meat. I was sorely tempted by the smells, but reminded myself that I had limited money at the moment and it was more important to get an room at an inn.

By the time I found the inn, the sun was already hovering just over the horizon, and night was coming in from the east. I could see the moon and even a few stars. I opened the door and was greeted by a woman who appeared to be in her mid-fourties working behind a counter.

"Welcome to the Long Road Inn. How can I help you?" [Marielle]

"I was recommended by Fendal to stay here. He told me to give you this." [Lucifer]

I passed the small parchment slip to her and after a quick look, she said, "If he gave you this, he must have seen something in you. Anyway, I'll give you a discount since he recommended you to come here. Normally it'll cost you three silver a night. I'll set you up for two." [Marielle]

I took out fourteen silver coins and placed them on the counter. "I'll stay for a week then. I may extend later, if that's ok." [Lucifer]

She slid the coins into her hand and after counting the coins handed me a key. "Your room is number 107 on the first floor. You can get meals in the room to the left of the stairs, though it'll cost extra. Enjoy your stay!" [Marielle]

I thanked Marielle and headed up to my room. I unlocked the door and started looking around. There was a bed against the wall to my left with a small table by it's head. Along the opposite wall and on each side of the door there were shelves for my use. On the shelves by the door, were small wooden boxes that reminded me of security cameras. I assumed it was a security device.

I placed my bag on the table and went down to the cafe style kitchen in the inn. I was really hungry. I sat down and almost immediately a waitress came to take my order. I just asked for the recommended dish as I was too tired to think. A few minutes later, a steaming stew was placed in front of me. I thanked the waitress and started eating.

"Oh my God. This is amazing!" I said as I basically devoured the stew. It was really that good. The meat was so soft and the vegetables were just right. The spices tingled as they went down my throat. I finished the stew before I realized.

I brought the bowl over to the kitchen counter and thanked the chef, who smiled in return. I then took out one silver to pay the waitress for the food. She took a moment to do the math, and gave me sixty copper coins in return.

I thanked them again and returned to my room. While laying on the bed, I finally gave some thought to everything that happened today. I died, met God, was sent to a world with monsters and magic, and was now staying at a medieval inn in a medieval world.

After a moment, I pushed all that to the side and started to decide how I'd continue from here. First, I had ten silvers and sixty coppers left.

In this world, one hundred coppers was one silver, one hundred silvers was one gold and one hundred gold was one platinum.

Second, if I decided to be an adventurer, God said I'd have a unique skill, which should give me an edge compared to most new adventurers. I also would get help from Fendal, the Captain of the guards here in Desil.

Third, I had a bag that would get bigger as I got more levels. From what I gathered by asking people on my way to the inn, the easiest way to get levels was to fight monsters.

Last, I was able to use magic. I just didn't know how yet.

It seemed that everything was pointing at becoming an adventurer as the best idea. It's decided. Tomorrow I will register as an adventurer! For now though, I want to sleep.
