The Necromantic Lord

Chapter 9 - Town in ruins!

John and the rest of the skeleton were walking through a small trail that was cutting through the forest more effectively. John noticed that Ulna started walking closer after finish talking to Skelly.

Ulna make a couple screeching sounds which were unbearable for John. She continued making the sound, "Sorry but I don't get what your saying, I can't understand what you are saying" said John, this situation was actually something that have been worrying for sometime, not to be able to effectively communicate with his minions worried him. Ulna put her hands on her t.h.i.g.hs and suddenly stopped. John curiously looked at Ulna and stopped walking as well.

A window appeared on front of John: Interface notification! Ulna wants to establish a soul communication with you, do you wish to make this connection possible? Yes/No. Two buttons appeared in front and he quick pressed Yes.

Language skill gained!: Soul Communication: "Able to establish connection via soul, communication between both parties will be done by transferring the essence of your thoughts".

"Master! I can finally talk to you... I am really disappointed to have such an inexperienced necromancer such as yourself, summon me" Ulna sighs in disappointment and looks down into the floor. "Sorry Ulna, there is so much I don't know at the moment. I have only been a necromancer for less than two days, you can consider me a novice necromancer" John quickly answered embarrassed. Ulna regained her composure and was even amazed by what John said. "My mistake master, I didn't know you were a novice necromancer. For a novice like you to summon two skeletons that contain strong souls is a great feat! Not even I was able to pull that off when I was a novice necromancer, it took me years of experience and luck to gain my first great summon. If you want I can guide you a little bit more in necromancy!" John was actually glad that she changed her view of him very quick, she has high expectation of me that I must fulfill "Ulna your tutelage will help me a lot, but that is going to have to wait for a couple of days, we got other stuff to worry! There is food and water in my case, and where you guys are going to be etc, etc, etc... Normal people will shit their pants if they see a skeleton on the streets"

John and his skeletons continued walking until they were close to the end of trail and the Town could be seen when he got out of the trail. "Skelly, Ulna, I want you guys to stay hidden from the eyes of other humans and guide the other skeletons, usually people don't leave the trails so hiding in the woods should be pretty safe. Skeletons, I leave you guys under Ulna and Skelly, they will tell you what to do when I'm not here!".

John had unwillingly left his skeletons behind and continued walking to town. He noticed that there had been changes thing he was there last time. A rough looking 10 meter tall wall was surrounding the town. When he walked to the entrance of the town, there were two guards standing by. They were wearing chain mail underneath their clothing and had a sword that was sheathed on their belts. The pair looked at him weird since he had his regular clothing on. One of the guards walk up to him "Hey kid, what are you doing out of the town? Don't you know it's dangerous out in the woods? Hurry up and get in!"

John awkwardly walked past them and went inside the town. When he took a peek inside, the town was in ruins! The wall was actually quite fresh, it seem to have been completely finished not too long ago. He started walking to where his guardian's house was located! He knocked at the door and his and Mr. and Mrs. Montague look at him indifferently and said "Oh! It's you... It's great that you're okay, but you no longer live here!" then closing the door afterwards. John wasn't really surprised by this treatment, they didn't really care what happened to him at all. That couple had been fostering kids for the money for many years.

He then started walking to the house of his one and only friend! He knocked on the door, and Mrs. Stainton opened the door. "Oh my god John! You're actually alive! Percival has been worried about you after what happened yesterday. He left early in the morning, I don't know where he went! Can you please get him, it's almost lunch time, if you want you can join us!" Mrs Stainton had been surprised and glad to see John, she knew what he had been going through with the Montagues. Mrs. Stainton said she wouldn't raise him many times because of the additional responsibility. In the end she was still caring towards him and let him stay at their house whenever the Montagues kick him out of the house which was actually very often. "Mrs. Stainton I'll go get Percival so we can join you and your husband for dinner!" John respectfully replied and took off.

John went to the park where he usually hangout with Percival. Percival was under one of the trees looking into sky, who knows what he was day-dreaming. John could watch Percival sighing from far away, just looking at him at the moment he look very pitiful! John sneaked behind him like Percival usually did.

"Heyyyyyyyyyyyy! what are you doing crying under a tree?" yelled John behind Percival and then started to laugh. Percival was scared the crap out off. "Where have you been you f.u.c.ker, do you know how worried I have been?" Percival was full of anger towards John at the moment, but quickly changed his mind "Kevin and his gang had been saying that you died and they buried you on the graveyard... Those f.u.c.k.i.n.g liars wait until I see them, I'll give them their just desserts!" Percival said redirecting his hatred toward that group.

"Percy, your mom is waiting for us, she said to go there for dinner" said John as he help Percival to stand up. As they walked to Percy's home John asked Percy what happened to the town. He explained that the town had been ruins because of the Earthquakes, the aftershock were too strong and destroyed almost all of the houses, most home had become unlivable. A lot of people died too, Percy started mentioning a couple people, but John really didn't care, no one that he can consider really important died. John "By the way Percy... Why is there a wall and how come they prioritized that over the housing." He changed the topic again "John, the town was attack by a group of beast that came from the forest. My people were able to fight against them and are currently hurt, all those people are on the hospital hurt!" said Percy suspicious at his friend, because he didn't know anything that happened at all. 'John was actually worried about his skeletons now, he was wondering how they were doing. Are they gonna be attack by those beast?'

John wasn't able to worry for too, since Percival interrupted his current train of though by asking him a question "So John... Where had you been all this time?" said Percy quite curious. "Well... you know what Kevin and his gang said, right? It happens that everything they said was truth except about me dying. They told me they were going to pick me up the next day, but they never did!" said John with a hint of anger in his voice. "How the hell did you agree to that? The next time we see them, we will need to teach them a lesson! Man you were lucky to not have been attack on your way here by those beasts, from what I heard they quite savage!" said Percival as the anger was reignited by John's word.

John and Percy had finally arrived at Percy's home. "Mom, I am home!" said Percy when he got inside the door. "Great! Just in time I had just finished cooking! Go ahead and sit on the dinner table and wait until I finish plating the food" said Percy's mom while she was plating the food for them.
