The Only Delicacy

11 Her Adorable Retor

Being oblivious towards the girl's hand that was still holding on to his manhood, Kevin only thought of the fact that the girl had blushed at him for the very first time!

Every time he would talk to her, she would glare, ending up with a somewhat reddened face.

That was certainly a very adorable glare for Kevin. Unfortunately for him, her blush was nothing more, but a by-product of rage.

However, now was different.

The way she answered him in a poised yet slightly embarrassed manner was proof that he had chance, indeed. He had the chance to close the distance, leading them to become lovey-dovey and then, into a happy ending.

Thinking of that, he burst out with glee.

That time was coming soon!

He couldn't help but impatiently look forward to it. He would use up all means upon given even the tiniest opportunity. However, he had to be patient, or else his diligent efforts might change its course.

Bitterly, he realized that courtship was a double-edged sword. If caught unguarded, that sword may kill him any second.

From the thought of that, there was absolutely no doubt that he would die miserably.

It would lead him to a meaningless life.

However if he wielded that sword correctly, it would reward him greatly. That kind of reward would be his to keep and his to love for as long as he lived. He would do anything.

Yes, anything, for that single piece of benefit with no monetary value but delight and contentment.

Upon thinking of that, there was no doubt that he would be the happiest man alive.

A life without her was meaningless. Once those words were altered, he concluded that she became his life. The light of his world. His sole purpose in life.

He would rather die a meaningful death than live a meaningless life without her.

The path of his thoughts made him realize just how important the woman beside him was. Even the words she uttered were like an ancient music full of history in his ears.

He treasured every word, every moan, every glare, every blush and every smile that she nonchalantly gave without any ulterior motive at hand.

Most of all, he held dear her current response towards the deepest and innermost parts of his heart.

While looking at her as if she was the most delicate flower alive, Kevin tenderly uttered the most precious word in his vocabulary, which was her name, "Scarlet."

This was the name that he would never ever forget, for he believed that this was the name that would stay with him for all eternity.

Meanwhile, Scarlet did not know how deep the importance her name was placed on. She only heard a soft response following after her own and nodded in return.

However, just when she was about to pull his hand away, the wound on her two elbows made her subconsciously groan.

"Ugh…" While furrowing her brows downward and slightly biting her lip, Scarlet felt a light pain due to her bandaged skin grazing the soft mattress and feeling the cold breeze at the same time.

Through her so-called 'job,' a light pain like this was never even considered a real pain.

It was just something irrelevant and unworthy of her time. Every time a wound would be inflicted upon her, it would not matter to her, because the pain in her heart was much greater than that.

Yet now that her heart was tenderly eased by her 'new friend,' the pain on her body heightened, making her feel the hurt that was past forgotten.

Her slight pained expression and groan immediately woke him back to reality.

As the perfect gentleman, his woman should be treated like a princess. No, more like a queen.

He vowed that, as long as he lived, she would not feel any hardships under his turf. Because, he knew her pain equaled his pain from the harsh experience that took place a while ago.

Scarlet was his cherished gift in this boring and cruel world. A reason to throw away the past and start a new beginning.

If she became broken into a million pieces, then he would be the same.

However, his pain would multiply greatly, thereby breaking him into a billion pieces, for she was his responsibility. If she broke while being kept within his hands, he would commit the most regrettable mistake of his life.

Kevin immediately stood up from the bed and picked her up like a princess, making her subconsciously let go of her hold onto his manhood. He was too affected by her pain to even bother with his forgotten and angry hard rod.

His pleasures did not matter, since she was his first priority.

He gently placed her down and helped her sit upright on the chair, while undoing the bandage, cleaning the wound, and wrapping a new bandage with great concentration and anxiety.

His expression instantly darkened upon the idea of someone hurting his beloved. The aura around him became menacing and was now filled with murderously high killing intent.

However, he instantly changed back to his worried expression, thus making the girl oblivious towards his minor change.

Even with her skills, she could not spot the killing intent for it took even less than a millisecond.

This showed that Kevin was more than what he seemed to be.

Even though he could just simply ask about the person that had hurt her, Kevin did not want to bring back bad memories that would destroy the sweet mood and their first encounter between them.

So, he decided that he would handle these matters himself.

He intentionally never told her of his future plans, for she had no need to concern herself over such trivial matters. Yes. His safety and his life were nothing more, but trivial.

It was trivial for him because he was highly confident in his own abilities. No one in history had outdone him, even his brother, Kyle. Both twins were always on par with each other, none being better than the other.

Of course, his beloved future wife was another matter. It was not even an exaggeration to say that he would kill anyone who dared to harm her, more so slightly touch her from head to toe.

Once he set his eyes on them, Kevin vowed to brutally kill them and leave nothing but ashes. He only wanted her safe in his hands. This kind of vow was also one of the basics of courtship.

But, most importantly, it was his code of honor and pride as a man.

While Scarlet was mentally concentrating on easing up her own pain, Kevin asked her in an affectionate manner, "Sweetheart, does it hurt?"

Forgetting the pain from her elbows, Kevin's question made her ponder over whether he had heard her say her name or not. Since she heard him utter her name again after she replied towards his answer, she became confused.

Scarlet did not like the nickname he gave at all, for it made her feel like the most delicate and fragile woman alive.

She used all of her efforts to glare at him, "My name is not 'sweetheart.'"

Yet, all her efforts were unfortunately useless, because what Kevin's eyes could see was only the most delicate and fragile woman alive.

Kevin never tried calling anyone by names, more so use the term, "Sweetheart."

People would call him by his name, but he would only respond in a greeting of good morning, good afternoon, and good evening, never uttering their names once.

Hence, he was inexperienced in the 'affectionate addressing' department, but he did not care.

He needed to use words that could indirectly show his true feelings towards her, for he felt like his heart would burst from keeping them inside for too long.

He needed it for his mental health. He needed it to close the distance.

Too much waiting would literally kill him.

Kevin turned a blind eye to her adorable retort and affectionately replied back, "If I do not call you 'sweetheart,' then it would not be 'special' anymore."

The 'special' he meant was the affectionate form of address only he could use to call her.

If he called her through the name she was given with, 'Scarlet,' he was sure that he would be like all the others. He would be no different from her friends, her family, and the other people who would casually use her name without any special meaning at all.

However, what Kevin did not know was that Scarlet never had any friends, family or other people who would casually use her name, more so chat with her.

Moreover, she never once stated her name to anyone other than him, aside from class introductions.

This proved that Kevin was, in a way, 'special' indeed.

Sadly, Kevin never knew this fact. If he knew, he would burst out with so much joy, making him secretly utter her name a million times to himself.

Meanwhile, Scarlet was confused about what he had just said.

She tried recalling more information about friendship from the movies she past watched and pondered, "Do friends have special ways to call each other?"

Since her mother never took part in any romantic movies, Scarlet was left utterly clueless on the fact that 'Sweetheart' was a term of endearment used for lovers.

She was ashamed of her limited knowledge about friendship and thought that Kevin had a point.

Friends were the kind of people who would stay with her for life. They would trust her and help her, no matter the consequences.

She, too, would help them and trust them in return, whether there were benefits or not.

So, it was basic for friends to have a special way to call each other, she thought while intrigued.

She brimmed with joy upon knowing that her first friend cared for her to the point that he was willing to guide her on the basics of friendship.

While thinking of how caring he was, she became a bit guilty towards him for her inconsiderate remark and bashfully replied back to him, "Use my name, please."

She politely declined his way of address, because it sounded embarrassing to her ears.

At least her instincts knew the meaning of 'Sweetheart.'

When he saw the pleading look in her eyes, Kevin's heart raced towards the finish line!

He was literally helpless and defenceless against her adorable and sweet expression that was instinctively used in asking him for a favor.

This was her first time asking him for a favor in such a cute manner, moreover using the word, 'Please!' In the evening, he must record this moment in his new diary, with the date noted and the page entitled, "The Day We Met."

He never had any passion for writing diaries. It seemed way too girly for him.

But since he was now a man blinded with love, he had to record every step and development they took before becoming the perfect lovers. Indeed, he had high hopes, ambitions, and dreams for the future.

Experiencing her puppy eyes first-hand, Kevin couldn't help but succumb to her plea, thereby sadly giving up his affectionate form of address towards her.
