The Only Delicacy

Finally hearing the answer Kevin concluded after quite a long time, Scarlet's face darkened by a hundred folds. The aura around her became so menacing that the clinic was now filled by murderously high killing intent.

Yes, as a born and experienced assassin, she could easily control her feelings and maintain her blank expression.

However, ever since the time she cried like a baby, her feelings were too out of control that she did not even realize it herself, thereby becoming unaware of the chaotic atmosphere she instinctively unleashed.

She had patiently waited for him to seriously decide on her nickname in order to not end up with an odd one. But here she was, waiting all this while just to end up with a way more odd, bizarre, and awful nickname that would stay with her for the rest of her life.

Right now, Scarlet used all her efforts to glare on the man in front of her and on the awful nickname he just gave, but her efforts were all in vain.

While staring deep into the girl's eyes with a smile that was shining even brighter than the sun, Kevin was currently lost in a million thoughts as to how amazing and special the nickname, which he diligently thought up for his beloved sweetheart, was.

Therefore unfortunately for the girl, Kevin was too preoccupied with his own thoughts to even bother with her darkened expression or with changing her new special nickname.

Why was Scarlet so unhappy, you ask?

Theoretically speaking, her reasons were actually quite simple, because she had darkened her expression all because of the word, "Li."

One of her reasons would be that, once she heard the new nickname he gave her, her instincts would become appalled as to how cute, endearing or even appealing it sounded to her ears.

At least her instincts knew of the actual meaning that Kevin thought of.

Her next reason would be the meaning of the word "Li." As someone who had learned of about 10 languages through movies she past watched, she knew the other meaning of "Li." She was not a Chinese unit of a distance that was equal to approximately one third of a mile or about half a kilometer.

How in the world did he end up with that nickname?

Moreover, because of her amazing intelligence as the 3rd placer of the batch for three consecutive years, she knew that "Li" was the symbol of the chemical element 'Lithium.' It was the chemical of the atomic number 3 and was the lightest of the alkali metals, a soft silver-white metal.

In fact, to greatly heighten her discontentment and contempt for the new nickname, the chemical element, the Lithium Carbonate or also known as the Lithium Salt, was used as a mood-stabilizing drug throughout history.

That seemed like a nice way of seeing things. She would happily oblige over her new-found responsibility, for she agreed to be friends with him ever since she first said her name. But sadly, she was not a drug!

Even though she was as innocent as a newly born baby, she knew of the meaning of drugs and their harmful effects towards the human body. As a matter of fact, drugs were part of the lessons that must be taught towards the students, so stated by the government, itself.

After angrily thinking of the disgusting thought of drugs, she moved on to her next reason, which would be the abbreviation of "Li."

In today's digital age, the world became full of shortcuts and abbreviations to make the sentences simpler and faster to type. Additionally, it was also a by-product of laziness due to how technological advanced the present was, making people's lives easier here and there.

Hence, "Li" was the abbreviation that came from the abbreviation, "Lol," meaning to "laugh out loud" at some given joke.

Since it did not seem real to actually laugh out loud towards something funny on the internet, "Li" became the famous term used by modern day people, meaning to "laugh internally" or to "laugh inside."

Last but not the least, another abbreviation for "Li" was "Long Island."

It was a place in New York where people would go during summer time. However, she was neither a place to visit in the summer nor a joke to laugh inside about!

She was just a human being. Literally speaking, she was a girl.

Just why and how did she end up with such a preposterous nickname?

Despite the fact that she was not quite digitally knowledgeable, the movies she watched, where her mother took part in, were enough to update her on the latest trends and news.

So, once she was placed in a group filled with the modern-day, popular, and updated type of people, she would not seem so out of place.

Instead, they would be like birds of the same feather flocking together.

Yet, since she was a shy and poker-faced girl who was never taught about the basics of human emotions, she had never made any friends up until now for it seemed way past her capabilities.

So, the least that her first friend could do was to seriously think of a new nickname!

Being literally oblivious towards the girl's angry thoughts, towards her darkened expression, and towards the thousand meanings the nickname "Li" actually had, Kevin displayed a very bright and handsome smile, showing off his pearly-white teeth and tiny but visible dimples.

Since the girl realized that he did not bother to change her nickname, Scarlet angrily replied with all her might, "No."

This time, Kevin was the one appalled by her reaction and response.

"Why?" Kevin thought while intrigued at the same time.

The special and affectionate form of address he made her was just perfect for him. He absolutely could not understand her way of thoughts that led to this disagreeable outcome, even for a genius like him.

Indeed, his woman was not ordinary, but someone even more exceptional than he had ever imagined.

Not realizing her simple thoughts that led to this outcome, Kevin, indeed, became a man blinded with love.

Unfortunately for the girl this time, Kevin would neither let go nor give up on the new nickname he had seriously thought of for a long time, despite how adorable her glare, her rosy cheeks and ears, and her pouty red kissable lips could be.

He had to persevere and endure with all his might in order to keep the last bits of self-control within him intact.

"Sorry, Li. You can only choose between 'Sweetheart' and 'Li.'" Kevin's response was, for the first time, childish.

This was yet another gift of first experiences the girl had unknowingly gave.

Kevin could simply change or think of a new nickname, but he did not want to. Instead, he gave her two options that would make her even more appalled and confused.

Hearing his bizarre and childish response, Scarlet's mind became jumbled up and chaotic from her disarrayed thoughts because of the only two undesirable options he gave her.

Right now, her eyes widened and her mouth slightly opened and then shut repeatedly, seeming like the words she wanted to say was stuck inside her mind and not leaving her mouth, again and again.

Scarlet finally realized that the nickname came from her name, the syllable "Let," leaving her with no choice but to keep her mouth shut and to glare at him like she was pinning him with a thousand needles.

She could not just immediately reply that she did not like the name because of the odd meanings it had. Moreover, she was not even sure if she had thought of the correct one he was currently thinking of.

If she ever voiced out her opinions, she might die from embarrassment of being too picky and inconsiderate toward his feelings.

Fortunately for Kevin, both of these options were intentionally in his favor, thereby leaving the girl with no benefit left to even choose. Kevin's eyes flashed with a mischievous glint while he displayed a handsome but devious smile.

This time, Kevin revealed his true colors.

Of course to his benefit, Kevin chose the nickname "Li," because the address "Sweetheart" was too common between lovers, he thought.

It did not sound special anymore now that he thought of a new nickname.

Meanwhile at lunch time, Kyle noticed that his first love was taking quite a long time outside the classroom that she even missed the whole morning classes because of it.

With his superior and godly skills in hacking the closed-circuit television, otherwise known as the video surveillance cameras, Kyle, who was in the classroom, had opened his laptop and used it to easily hack into the school's system of security. In there, he saw his first love in the clinic.
